Vince was quite a busy bee for several minutes. In but an instant, once his glorious surprise was unveiled, the line of reporters was almost staggering. The only thing that made it easier for everyone on-staff was the fact that not everyone in line made it to the head honcho. Per Terra's direction, only every other reporter was allowed on-stage to have a bit of a one-on-one with the resort owner, and everyone else was simply handed a trite, little gift bag, and redirected towards the dance floor.
The porcupine rose from his chair, and wrapped up his latest discussion, graciously shaking the hand of the latest speaker before he turned to see who else was currently in line. Vince quirked a brow as he saw a particular lamb waiting amidst the generic rabble off-stage. Walking soundlessly to the line, the resort owner mulled over his thoughts, a hint of familiarity ringing a few bells in his head...
It would appear that he realized she was actually contestant in his current tournament, on top of apparently being with the media. That alone was enough to interest him further.
"Ah, Terra, if I may..." Vince gently waved his employee aside, as he then gestured over to Mary, who was but a few feet away. "You there -- A wonderful evening to you. I have decided that you will be next to go. Please, accompany me to the seats, so that we may partake in the discussion you're after."
A freebie to cut in line? As if anybody would so quickly turn such a privilege down! Should Mary accept, Vince would then escort her to the chairs resting at the back of the stage to begin the media's highly sought-out interview.

Far be it from Tank to not notice a wing-ed purple body tumbling from the skies above in between he and his sharky companion (and making a really big splash on them all, at that). But his reaction was not so lenient. For as he raised his finger to explain to Mako their predicament, the best example of why they were doing what they were doing seemed to fall from the heavens.
"HENEMY SPAI," he exclaimed, and instantly thrust himself upon the unfortunate creature in a most impressive display of underwater man-grappling.

Juke, practically already drowning without being grappled, accidentally drank more water than was healthy for his body to even process, all while trying to scream for help.
Failing this, he followed his first primal survival instinct and began to rapidly bite Tank's arm.

"You must have some sort of death wish..." She said to Ember before glancing out into the crowds, Vince drew her attention by motioning someone from the line up to the stage. Odd, but it was his party, and for all Tracer knew he could have a thing for sheep.
Tracer immediately turned her attention to the party goers around the buffet table then the dance floor, finally she spotted her partner in crime. She didn't understand why he was dancing with the bird woman nor did she care. Tracer threw her arm around Ember and lead her out to the dance floor.
"Move, and I will kill you." She whispered to Ember as she released her and tapped on Archers shoulder, interrupting his dance.
Jack blinked at the llama that interrupted her enjoyable dance with the deer. She almost pouted when she glanced at ember. The joy drained from her face, something was wrong here. She glanced at the llama again and released her dance partner with a forced smile.
"If you have other thing to attend to, I understand. I enjoyed our dance. Lets do that again some time." She said stepping away from the deer and standing beside ember.
Tracer gave a curt nod. Then turned away from the bird and griffin, her arm locking around Archers.
"We're going to make our move soon." She said to him in a hushed voice.

(OOC: Going crazy with Matt's express permission)
The tortoise seemed to be struggling a bit more than he probably... ever should have handling a fellow with wings under his arms in water. Perhaps he was just too caught up in the moment, in the drama. But before Juke could be effectively put out of his misery, and not terribly long after the initial skirmish, the poor bat probably found himself hoisted above Tank's shoulders, and heaved out (once again) to flop unceremoniously along the ground beside the fountain.
...Not long after, would Tank's mighty feet stand at either side of his waist.

"Uhhhh," Mako interjected, inviting himself over alongside his compatriot, and said compatriot's... uh... captive. He was going to suggest that it had sounded like the bat was being thrown out of the hotel, but at that moment, it struck the shark that he could well have been a spy and a clever ruse... or maybe he was some other evildoer's spy.
It also struck him that he was spending too much time around Tank, if this was how he thought.
He took it up, however, like the sidekick's sidekick he was this night. "Or someone else coulda sent him, too!" Mako exclaimed as he looked at Juke with suspicious, scrutinizing sharky eyes.

The bird was standing still as a statue with her hands clasped behind her back. Upon seeing the sight of Jack she gave a joyful smile that faded away once she saw the woman's dance partner. As Tracer's hand left her shoulder she did let out a sigh of relief.
When the partners in crime turned away Ember gave Jack a wink. "Having a good time?", she whispered. Just being near a friendly face cheered the bird considerably.

Archer abruptly stopped dancing when Tracer stepped in to interrupt. He adjusted his glasses a bit on the bridge of his nose. He nodded to the griffon lady, before turning to address Tracer. He nodded,
"Alright. So...do you have a plan?" He asked absently. He glanced to the table where he had hidden his briefcase. It contained something he simply could not leave home without. But he didn't want to jump the gun in bringing it out. First, the plan.
The masked hero wasted no time in making his way down the building as the underwater struggle took place. He stood to his feet and lept off the side of the building, catching a flag pole on his way down, and swinging around it to bring his inertia to a grinding halt, and then slid down it. He planted his feet on the ground, and ran toward the scene at the fountain outside the building they had been staking out.
Just in time for the interrogations to begin. Compounding on Mako's observation, he chimed in, "It looked as though he was being kicked out. I doubt that he's on Vincent's payroll."

"HOOF." (More at the oof, less at the hoof. He wasn't blurting an ungulate body part or anything.)
The bat, still in his tattered (but now soaked) crushed-red-velvet tuxedo jacket and opaque sunglasses (which seemed incapable of falling off, judging by that last encounter), laid there limply for a few seconds, water running out of his nose and ears.
Something about him working for somebody eventually got through, though.
"Whgghat?" Juke choked, spitting some more water and coughing before finally achieving a clear voice. (Or, as clear as his gritty, nasally voice got.) "I don't work for nobody! I'm the boss!" declared the purple bat most unwisely.

Tracer looked down her nose at the deer, then motioned towards the stage, stealing a glance at it and the trophy. It's a shame its splendor was lost on one such as herself.
"It's right there," she said firmly. Apparently a smash and grab was Tracer's only plan.
Jack examined her dance partner and his friend while Ember spoke. She faced toward her only to address her, her eyes remaining on the pair. "He's not a bad dancer. You seem kinda pale, do you know these two? Should I be concerned?"

"Ooh, that bitch!" Mary hissed. Ember was just about to pick up when the damn llama made a gesture for it to be given it to her. She nabbed it out her hand, squeezed it, then returned it -- as a crumpled pulp. Bad news. Bitch was bad news made worse because Ember was too obviously powerless to do anything. What the hell could she, unarmed against a broad that could throttle a cell with her own bare hands? Mary looked at the line. Then back at them. It was dispersing, but it'd still be a lengthy wait if she left it now. On the other hand, she couldn't just leave Ember with that she-hulk, she was an obviously threat to her objective and just downright suspicious. Mary had seen her badge from before she'd went in the line, but what kind of reporter went to a job to do nothing when they got there? Unlike Mary, whose standard materials were in her purse, Tracer hadn't come with anything on her; no camera, no notebook to write with, nothing, which made her even more skeptical of the woman. The buck too, come to think of it. Neither of them made an effort to look into the story. A sly grin crept against her face. What the hell was she getting tied up in knots for? She could be taking advantage of this! First thing was first, though, thought Mary glancing at Ember. She had to get the girl away from that woman to set up a new game plan. The lamb jabbed her thumb, fiddling down her contacts list for Jack when a familiar voice made her jump and stop her dead in her tracks
"Oh.."
Crapdammit.
Her eyes flicked with alarm, but only for a moment. 'Come on Mary-girl, Get it together, willya? He aint onto ya yet.' She reassured inwardly. Because if he had been, she wouldn't have gotten invited here. Nah, Vince just recognized her as one of his contestants, she reasoned. And what could she say? Lambs were a damn good-looking species to boot. But Mary dismissed the thought since there were more important things to think about than goad over than her looks (Good as they were, and high a priority on her mental list). It was time she got down to business!
"Let's get this started, then." She said finally, and with that, removed herself the line. The lamb sauntered towards him, slipping an arm with his -- in a tight lock. Vince lead the way towards the stage, meanwhile Mary's other hand had trailed to his sleeve and pulled, leaning the porcupine forcibly, but only enough for him to hear her grate underneath her breath: "Stuff ya interview for later, red. We got a different scoop on our hands, now."

Ember was stuck in between a rock and a hard place with Jack's question. She could easily answer but what would the sheriff's reaction be? The last thing the bird wanted was to have her newest 'friend' get injured. But if she didn't she could end up getting worse done anyways. Decisions decisions.
Knowing that Jack wouldn't wait for her to run through the pros and cons of each one, she just decided to take the plunge.
"Its a long story but I do know them. And yes. Being concerned would be nice so let's just go ahead and go so my tail feathers don't get shot off.", she whispered quickly. As an afterthought she attempted a smile to ease up some of the tension.

As Vince led his new friend to their designated seating arrangement, he was mildly caught off guard when she pulled him a bit closer to issue a mild voice of concern. Something about a different scoop altogether.
And like that, his interested had been piqued.
Raising his eyebrow, the porcupine spoke audibly enough for the lamb to catch his reply. "A different 'scoop', you say...? What do you mean, exactly...?" To keep onlookers satisfied with the appearance of an 'interview' underway, Vince led the reporter to her chair, and motioned for her to take a seat, before placing himself upon his own chair. No need to stop right in the middle of the stage just because their conversation started early, after all...

But Mary didn't answer right away. Instead, she wordlessly took the seat Vince offered, and slipped out her notebook to write. She knew better than to talk back and risk someone listening in, and doing that around reporters, was just asking for trouble. They -- well, the good ones anyway, had super heightened senses just to stick a nose in someone's else's business. A simple whisper could tip some of them off or worse, cause a riot amongst the group if they freaked out which was the last thing Mary wanted. She quickly scribbled something and tore the sheet off, slipping the contents towards Vince:
"I MEAN YOU GOT BOGEYS HERE, PINCUSHION." It read. "TWO OF THEM, I THINK. SOME PURPLE LLAMA RUNNING AROUND WITH A BUCK. THEY SAY THEY'RE REPORTERS, AND BOY DID THEY SOUND INTERESTED IN YOUR ROCK, BUT HAVEN'T DONE ANYTHING WORTH THEIR 'JOBS' SINCE THEY GOT HERE. PRETTY SUSPICIOUS, DON'TCHA THINK?
OH, AND PS: THE LLAMA'S GOT THE STRENGTH OF A TANK. NO JOKE. CRUSHED MY PARTNER'S CELL LIKE IT WAS PAPER. MIGHT WANNA BE CAREFUL AROUND HER."
