It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

"The only thing 'secret' about the company party is the room they're holdin' it at." Corrected Mary flatly with a shrug. "Its supposed to be only for staff, but they'll let in anyone so long as they come in with the right people." She said, emphasizing just enough on those words to cue Jack in on where she where she was getting at. "A party's as good a place as any to meet new people and to get to know folks, right? Safe bet its just whatcha need to get your foot in the door with a certain someone, Sheriff, so lets get a few things straight so we won't waste each other's time: I'm not puttin' my butt on the line for a cause I'm not even trusted with." Said Mary bluntly, arm's folded, giving Jack a hard look. "Either you tell me what everyone's up to with Vince, or forget my offer, altogether."

Mary seemed to have things in hand, and may well be the key to getting the snooping she wanted done, done. Jack let out an exacerbated sigh at Mary when she demanded to know what was going on.
"To be honest, Mary. There ain't no cause. I'm not lookin' to stur up trouble. But I need to know if Vince really has one of them rocks, an' if he does, all I wanted to do... Is stop another Yellow Desert from happenin'. That's it. That's all I'm after. I can't let somethin' like that happen to a place like Casino Park... An' there's folks here, who I recken, would sell that rock to the first egg-shaped man who offer'd em a buck fer it."

Once the number was entered, Ember came to a realization.
She had left before she could get any numbers.
Staring down at the phone which was now ringing on the other end, she gave a groan. Snapping it shut, she slid it back into her pocket while softly chiding herself. "Really really now, gotta slow down. Hope they haven't have left." Leaning back, she did a half-flip to face the ground and started to glide back down. Once on the ground, narrowly missing a bystander, she jogged back into the building.
A flood of relief sped through her when she spied Jack and Mary still in the same place as before. Strutting towards them with her arms open wide in a welcoming gesture she greeted them. "Well hello ladies! Did ya miss me?"
Hopefully they wouldn't be too mad.

"Assuming pin-cushion didn't pay em', first." Mary suggested. "And if he did that, then what'll you do?" She said, prodding the griffon further. Mary had a nagging suspicion that Jack was still holding back on something, but oddly said nothing about it .. outright. Nifty lesson learned from being a reporter was the unspoken skill of slowly dragging accusations to surface in the forms of questions. It might not have been her preffered approach; Mary was much more accustomed to just calling people out on crap when she confronted them, but had over the years discovered and internalized the importance of at least trying to be patient with people, especially when the stakes got as high as they were and having too careless a mouth could make for some lame last words.
She eyed Jack expectantly, waiting for an answer -- or more appropriately, observing for one. Some uneasy glances, or stuttering here or there -- any sort of abnormal gesture that could clue her in on intentions no one was willing to tell her and that ultimately, she never got anyway because of Ember bursting back into the dining hall.
"Well hello ladies! Did ya miss me?"
Mary bit back an expletive and winced. Turning around, she flicked the sprightly bird a contrastingly wary expression. "How could anyone miss you when you've only been gone for like, three minutes?" She retorted, groaning. "And wait, how did ---- what're you doin' back so quick, anyway? Don't tell me ya let the raptor get away!" Mary accused.

Jack is not an easy person to read. Years of wringing the truth out of suspects as the Yellow Desert Sheriff gave her a more then capable poker face. Most people (particularly suspects) would never know if she lied while looking them right in the eye. Not that it was something she did often, but she is an officer of the law. In a nutshell, Jack is the last person to ever give a tell. About to reply to the grave possibilities of some sort of porcupine-Eggman cooperative effort when the cheery red bird returned. Jack spun around and greeted the bird with a wave.
"Dearly." Jack said with a bit of a smirk. Then rummaged through the pockets of her skirt until she removed her business card. Which couldn't be more plain, It just has the Yellow Desert Sheriffs Department logo on it and said 'Sheriff J. Clarke' with her number underneath it along with an emergency contact number listed as '911'. She of course offered one to both girls.
"I reckon ya probably shouldda taken this with ya." She said without really sounding concerned before she shifted to look at Mary and her obvious displeasure with the bird.
"Vince wont take nuthin' he says seriously, anyway." Jack said with a shrug. "He's a raptor with a rocket on 'is back yellin' about conspiracy an the power of science. Who would listen ta him? If ol'Randell is lucky, Vince'll just throw'im out. We'll keep'an eye out encase he ain't so lucky, but he's made his bed."

Taking the sheep's wrath with a smile, Ember shrugged. "Weeell I tried. But you know how men are. Though that thing of his makes has some speed." Sensing that the woman may still be upset, she continued on, "You should've seen it. That guy has a nifty toy."
Even before she could explain why she hadn't called like planned, the business card was offered to her. Taking it she gave Jack a wink and said, "You read my mind!" before slipping the information into her jacket pocket. "But like Jack says, that dude is going about it the wrong way. Doesn't seem to know how to charm. He's a blast to talk too though! Can't wait to see him again!"
It seemed that Ember was rather quick to forgive-and forget.

As if responding to the Myna Bird's wishes, the sound of a pair of reptillian feet landing outside the door to the building, before kicking it open and striding into the area he hadn't left 20 minutes before. "Miss me ladies?" He asked, his eyes centered on the group of women that were -unbeknownst to him- chatting away about him just that moment.

"Flying dude!"
Turning around on her heel, Ember threw an arm around the man's shoulders. "Hey hey now. I like that thing strapped to ya. Glad to see you alive and what have you." At Mary's jab, Ember gave a chuckle. "Don't be so cruel girl we don't even know what' he's said yet. Which reminds me...what did you say flying dude?"

A bit startled by the sudden physical contact across his shoulders, Randall politely removed the offending arm from his countenance and regarded the curious bunch and shrugged his shoulders. "I have no idea what you ladies are on about. I was simply off informing our resident billionaire of a lucrative buisness proposition-which he foolishly turned down- and to warn him of his impending danger." He paused a little bit for effect, waiting until each of them had their barbs out and ready to strike. "The impending attack of a group of rabbid eco-terrorists I met several dozen blocks from here is something he of course needed to be made aware of, is it not?" A horrendously obvious wink came from the raptor, doing his best to convey the quite-obvious message.
He's not very good at this 'sneaky' thing, you see.

Jacks arms crossed slowly over her chest as she examined the reptile in his return. She didn't know what happened any more then the others did, and while outwardly she smiled at the raptor and snorted at his ridiculous wink, inside she wondered just what he was playing at.
"Well, nice to see you back so soon. Ya ran outta here like you was late ta milk the cows." she said as her arms fell to her sides. "Ya coulda been hurt rushin' off like that, 'er worse. Think 'for you go leapin' off buildings..." she scolded him gently since she didn't know him, but she still would hate for him to get in over his head and subsequently hurt because of it.
Jack looked around a moment, as if she was missing something, then looked around Mary and Ember continuing to search for something that wasn't there. It was just the four of them.
"Dangit... Target's done run off." Just what she needed, something else to worry about. "Hey Mary, are robots allowed to pertis-pate in this here tournament?"

"What?" Muttered the lamb disinterestedly, cocking her head. She didn't answer Jack right a way, flicking back her way instead a blank, possibly bored expression before quirking to something else. Brows furrowed, lips curling she eyed the girl, annoyed. "Aw, no ya don't." She started slowly. "Heell no. Girl, don't tell me throwin' yourselves at the tourney to win it was your idea at a game plan." Shot Mary belligerently. "Uh, news flash in case ya forgot already, Sheriff? The contest's rigged so none of ya comin' on top's worth a damn thing, anyway. I'll bet Vince's just using the matches to wear people enough to finish em' nice and easy." She shrugged. Its what she would have done if she were him. "So just save the rustbucket, Sheriff," Mary suggested, waving a hand dismissively. "You don't know what Vince's plannin' on or how you'll leave a match so its better to have someone in our corner backin' us whose not battered up from a fight."

Not even the smallest bit put off by her arm being rejected, Ember gave a short laugh when the raptor mentioned 'eco-terroists'. "Heh. Nice dude nice." Giving him a thumbs up to show her approval, she turned her attention to the other conversation taking place.
"Aw don't be such a downer sheepy! It isn't about winning! Its about having fun!" Placing her hands on her hips, she gave a smile that resembled the one a teacher gave little kids. "That's what life is all about after all!"
If anything, at least she could get a job later writing motivational posters.

Jack turned her gaze the the lamb a moment who went on about something and it took the griffin a moment for her brain to catch up, she raised a hand shaking her head.
"Fer a reporter yer jumpin' to a lot of conclusions," She said, sparing Mary the lecture on making assumptions for now. "Target is 'er own... uh, Robot. She does what she wants, and I recken she's run off ta either enter the tornament 'er gamble away her savin's. Possibly both."
Mary's quickness to draw conclusions from things made the sheriff more wry of of whatever she was planing. It was possible the lamb was making a mountain of a mole hill. But Tanks warning was enough for Jack to see the sense in exploring whatever leads the lamb came up with.
"It's too late ta go find'er now. We've got stuff ta do."
