(Admin's note: Chapter 2, days 3-6 are skipped following this thread.)

The buffet area was every bit what you'd expect it to be, waiters and cooks jogging between tables and the stainless steel buffet, trading out trays and clearing away dishes from tables. Jack settled in at the long table Hoji had staked his claim in for them, setting a tray which she'd filled with the best of the breakfast buffet. She sat herself down across from the raccoon in the motorcycle jacket. She sat quietly pouring syrup over her french toast.

"I reckon we should start sniffin' around, see who the heck this Vince feller is," she offered, looking away from her pancakes at the raccoon she had no choice but to work with at the moment.

Hoji let out a long sigh as he sat back in his chair. He looked up at Jack with an arch of his brow.

"There's plenty of time for that once you get eliminated from the qualifying match." He said with a coy grin. "When was the last time you had a vacation anyways?" He asked, looking out one of the windows at the steel canyon outside, then at her again. "Surely there's something here you'd like to do."

Jack starred at the raccoon, how could he be so laid back about this. "Uh, what? I've taken plenty of vacations."

Target slid into the seat beside Jack, looking between her and Hoji.

"That stay in the hospital doesn't count as a vacation, Sheriff."

OOC: Anyone should feel free to presume your presence at the table.

Mako all but invited himself over to the table with the various shades of law enforcement, setting down a tray with all sorts of food. What sorts of food, exactly? ... it was impossible to tell, as they'd been reduced to a vague lump covered with sickening amounts of syrup, jam, and powdered sugar. This right here was a healthy-eating boy!

Either having gotten over or consciously ignoring the fact that he was thoroughly convinced that Dr. Henshin was trying to kill him, he seemed in high moods this morning, if only because he wasn't going to be killed today. "I'm with stripey," he stated (referring to Hoji, of course), taking a seat and shoving a forkful of breakfast-condiment-drowned food into his mouth, and seemed satisfied with it, as he scooped up another bite, but he spoke first.
It was important to note that he hadn't swallowed yet.

"W'haffnt haffal--" he paused, swallowed his food, and then continued. "We haven't had a lot of time to, uh, you know. Not be nearly-killed, in a while."

A forbidding prescence seemed to pentrate the cheerful air of the table of comrades. Like a summer storm it approached without warning and crashed onto the scene in the form of a cheery voice.

"Is this seat taken?"

Behind Mako was a bird with a large, almost unsettling, grin on her face. On one hand, she balanced a breakfast tray carefully on her fingers; a glass of juice held in her other hand. Her eyes scanned over each occupant at the table and took in their features.

"You three seem less likely to throw me out a window sooo...yeah.", was her explantion.

"We may not have been almost killed lately, but those ghosts sure made me feel like I was about to kick the bucket," came the voice of Sheffer as he appeared at the table, a well-filled plate consisting of a good serving of eggs and pancakes piled onto it clenched in his hand. "You seriously don't want to know what it feels like to see yourself cut in half..."

He took an open seat at the table next to Mako, looking up and giving a nod to the red stranger in greeting.

"I saw you last night... I think. Who are you again?"

Hoji chuckled at Target's comment, and was about to add to it when Mako, and someone he wasn't entirely familiar with joined them, and Sheff returned with a plate full of breakfast.

The raccoon looked back at the others as they shuffled toward the table with a friendly smile as he leaned lazily against the back of his chair, which his jacket was hanging on. He looked at Ember.

"Hey. No, no problem. Claim a seat." He said with a nod to one of the empty seats.

That reminded him, he looked down at his empty plate, and sat up, grabbing said plate and standing up to go refill.

Encourged by the postive answers she had gotten, Ember slid right into a seat next to Mako. The bowl on her tray was filled with what looked like melted cheese with some scrambled eggs for texture. Slowly stirring her spoon in the 'soup' she examined Sheffer from head to toe.

"Who knows! I can barely keep track of anyone in this place." She paused for a moment to eat some cheese. Looking satisfied with the taste, she swallowed and went on, "Oh so tasty. Call me Ember, everyone else does. What's yours? Unless you want me to guess that is."

Jack turned in her seat, sitting almost sideways with her arm over the back of her chair. She looked around at the small group then at the bird that asked to join them, she motioned towards the empty seat for her with a smile.

"There aint much chance of one of us tossing ya out a window." She said with a half smile. deciding introductions where in order. "I'm Jack, This is Hoji, Sheffer, and Mako."

She shuffled a bit then grumbled. "Target!" She said sounding insulted. "She forgot me, I'm Target."

"So," She began, ignoring Target. Though it was in response to Hoji, it was directed at the group at large. "What'er yer plans for enjoyin' our time off then? Other then emptyin' the buffet?"

Shuffling quietly into and through the luxurious Buffet area, the hungry jet-pack toting raptor piled huge amounts of piping hot food onto his plate.

Turning away from the buffet itself and looking for a suitable spot to sit, Randall scanned the room attentively, his eyes falling upon a large table seating the shark, sheriff, hedgehog, and others. Something about at least a few of them was familiar, he knew.

'I saw one of them on the news, I'm sure. But which one and what did he do? If it was the news they're probably famous, like an actor or something. What's an actor doing at a boxing tournament? What am I doing at a boxing tournament? I'm getting that emerald, obviously, so I can upgrade the pack with the Chaosol emerald. But will it even work? The t645 Chaos matrix is only tested with--'

His train of thought, of course, wandered into quite boring territory. Needless to expand on it as the raptor had begun moving away from the buffet and toward the table in question.

"Howdy" came the slightly raspy voice of a raptor that had likely not been to sleep the night before. "This seat taken?" He said, not actually motioning to any seat in particular, his brain too busy figuring up hypothetical adjustments to inventions he never actually got around to making.

Mako, having scooched aside for Ember, may have been about to say something to the Sheriff, or tell the bird his name... but that train of thought had skipped the rails, crashed into the metaphorical old man MacGregor's barn, and gone up in flames at the arrival of the raptor.

"Uh," he said blankly, blinking his wide orange eyes a few times as his gaze flitted to each part of the newcomer in turn. Was that a jetpack?
A slow realization hit him that he was distinctly reminded of a certain old moth, and the grinding of his teeth as his jaw locked into a grimace was almost audible.

With a sort of nervous smile back at Hoji, Sheffer, and the Sheriff, he shrugged. "Uhhh, I guess we're pretty popular, huh?"

Sheffer only first gave a quick glance to the reptile, too busy stuffing his face with his breakfast.

"No, it isn't. Go right..." The hedgehog suddenly did a double take, seeing the device on the stranger's back. "...ahead."

Was that a jet-pack?

"Um... interesting thing you got there," said Sheffer, his voice laced with confusion. "Didn't know they even sold those... wonder how well they work."

It didn't take the raccoon very long to refill his plate with hot breakfast edibles. But in the few moments he'd been gone, it seemed someone new had joined them. Not that Hoji minded.

"Hi." He nodded to the jet-pack wearing newcomer, his facial expressions seemed to state that he was less surprised than the others by the jetpack. After all, he lived with a mad scientist. Such technical marvels were commonplace. However, a question did pop in his mind regarding the newcomer...

"Do you ever take that thing off?" He asked as he took a vacant seat, which may or may not have been the same one he had left moments ago. He motioned to the jet pack, of course.

As Jack listed off the current members of the table, Ember gave each one a nod. It was rather nice to not be turned away like the other tables. Then again, most of the other tables consisted of men who smelled as though they haven't seen a shower in quite a while.

"Nice to meet ya'll. Best of luck in the punching stuff." With that, she returned to her cheese.

When the next newcomer approached though, Ember glanced at him. There was nothing much to see about him save for the-oh that was a jetpack. A jetpack.

Possibly a source of fire if the old cartoons she adored as a child were correct.

Discarding the breakfast for now, Ember craned her head to try and get a closer look at the machine strapped to the raptor's back. "Heeey! How are you great to meet ya have a seat pal." The rush of words came out fast, not even a pause between words almost.

Jack smiled at the red bird as she settled in, then another new comer came up. Jack blinked up at him and motioned towards a vacant seat for the raptor.

Target looked the reptile over then put her head in her hands, her elbows on the table. "I suppose being the least scary in the room makes us popular."

"It's nice to meet ya'll, So yer both here for the tournament, huh? Ya'll don't seem much like boxers." She noted looking up from her plate as she cleaned the last of the syrup off her plate with the last of the waffle. She smiled a bit, a little wary of the two, one she was sure she saw with Rock the day before, and the other had burn marks and a rocket strapped to him. "I recken we don't much look like boxers either though." She added.

"Enough with the small talk!" the eager robot said lifting her head up and looking around the group. "I wanna go gamble, we could play the slot machines!"

"They call them 'One Armed Bandits' for a reason, Target."

"Blah blah blah, 'Gambling is bad' I get it. Sheriff Jack doesn't gamble, but that doesn't mean the rest of us can't!" Target then made a noise that might of been an attempt at a raspberry, but since she doesn't have a tongue or even a mouth it just came out as her making a fart noise. Jack rubbed her head as if she was getting a headache with a sigh.

"how about this, Target," She said looking at the group at the table. "Who here is gainfully employed with an excess of money for gambling?"

Meanwhile, on some isolated corner of the casino's roof, across the resort from the others, was a classic sight: A boy and his dog. Or, rather, a boy and his... ten foot automated recon drone.

Seven seemed preoccupied with some small net-top device, and had been for quite a while. In his right hand, he held what looked like a very small satellite dish, which he occasionally pointed in just a slightly different direction, then held with iron rigidity in that position for a long time. He seemed to be deep in thought the entire time.

Eventually, though, his eyes squinted, he blinked a few times, and then he looked up from his work.

"BIU-D?"

"Yes?" replied the drone.

"Didn't I ask you to tell me when those morons woke up?" he asked, as if genuinely uncertain.

"By 'morons', do you mean Sheriff Jack and her party?" she asked for clarification.

"Yeah. Them," he confirmed, looking back to his work. "It's late. They should already be up by now."

"The signal hasn't moved," BIU-D replied placidly.

Seven looked up again, befuddled. "Give... me the feed. I wanna see."

The lens over his right eye flared up with color as he looked over toward the competitor lodging areas attached to the arena. A few levels of zoom later, and sure enough, there was one big glowing spot, unmoving.

"I don't get it," he mumbled. "Get me a clearer image."

The glowing spot expanded in his vision until... it took on the fuzzy, glowing shape of Dr. Henshin's face, as the moth laid still in bed, mouth wide open in a snore. His mouth glowed brighter than any other part of him.

"... Why is the old man the only one showing up?" Seven asked flatly, as if he already knew the answer.

"It may be possible that he ingested the entirety of the nano-tracker aerosol," the drone replied, matter-of-fact.

"..."

Seven looked down, and frowned lopsidedly with his mouth all twisted up. His only opportunity to tag each and every member of the party for surveillance had been foiled by a decrepit old windbag who didn't even know what he was doing.

"Well... piss."

"I'm... not certain I understood your command."

"It-... it was an expletive," stammered Seven, flustered. "I don't-- I don't mean-- ... just nevermind..."

The boy sighed and went back to what he was doing. The saucer-like drone continued to sit just as it had, silent and unmoving.

...

"Shall I add this definition of 'piss' to my internal--"

"Just forget it," he groaned.

Feeling quite verbally ushered by the red-feathered female's sudden burst of words, Randall took a seat next to her, shoveling a few mouthfuls of potatoes into his mouth before washing them down with a large gulp of Orange Juice and answering each of their questions in turn.

"Yes, actually, it is a jet-pack, a model of my own design. It is powered by a customized t640 Chaos energy matrix connected to twin propulsion turbines with. . .uhm. . " His voice trailed off as he realized no one in the vicinity had any real idea what he was talking about. "Yeah, I made it."

To the blue Raccoon's question he simply sat there with a thoughtful expression, stroking his spike-beard thoughtfully. "Uhm. . . I think I took it off like a week or so ago for repairs, yeah." he said matter-of-factly.

With that he grabbed the salt shaker and covered his potatoes and eggs in a generous covering of the white crystals, returning to his feasting.
