Even still, you're misinterpreting. The jet booster is, well, a jet booster. That's just some fan-rubbish speculating that it hovers behind him because of anti-gravity technology. It seems a bit redundant to use antigravity technology to hold a conventional jet engine in place, doesn't it? That's why not too much credence should be given to gameplay power-ups if you're going to try to take anything seriously in RP.

Because they have no damned idea what a laser looks like. Lasers are light. Go do yourself a favor and turn on a laser pointer, or even a flashlight. Be sure to tell me if it shoots something that flies and curves slowly through your room. (protip: light doesn't curve)
For the record, however, we were referring to his "missile launcher" as being a plasma launcher. Again, we were ignoring the gameplay-related upgrades. If you want to get truly pedantic and try to expand upon fanon, though, one could suppose that internal lasers are used to excite the necessary gases to a plasmized state prior to magnetic acceleration. But I don't really care to justify Sega in anything. Chances are they just don't know crap.
