| Post subject: | Question of the Week |
About this topic You have the itch. We've all been there; you're feeling particularly in character, but the story's held up, or for whatever reason, there's not much posting to be done. And you're climbing the walls, because you feel like writing something. Enter the Question of the Week thread. Here, once a week, every week, a new, open-ended question will be posed for your musing, and subsequent in-character response (however, if it's a question your character would be dismissive about, you can amend an out of character response, if you wish). This is not an obligation; just a thought-provoking, character-exploring, completely optional, for-fun writing exercise to play with every week for us folks who want to do it. The Rules 1. Avoid asking questions already posed in the 100 Question Survey, as most of us have already done that. 2. Avoid closed-ended yes or no questions. 3. There's no posting deadline for the questions, and you can answer old questions after new ones have been posted. However, for readability's sake, if you think you possibly might maybe potentially want to respond to a question later, but don't have the answer immediately, just reserve yourself a post, and come back to edit it later. That's it. For now, it's pretty simple, but we'll add to it if we need to. If you want to volunteer to come up with a question on a recurring basis, PM me, or hit me up in the chat, and we'll get a rotation list going. Otherwise, if you just have a question or two you'd like to see come up, send it my way, and I'll add it to the bank. |

FIRST EVER QUESTION OF THE WEEK ((In honor of Sheff's name predicament)): If you could have picked your own name, what would it have been, and why? If you wouldn't change your name, why do you like it? |

OOC Note: I'mma go ahead and post just to get the ball rolling, but I've already had questions about how I expected this to be done, formatted, composed, etc. My answer is as follows: This is an itch, so scratch it however you want to. If you want to write narrative, go for it. If you just wanna do a quote, that's fine, too. And don't worry about purposefully trying to be funny or witty or what have you. Some people are just very bored, and very inquisitive, and will just enjoy the trivia. Those who don't probably didn't want to participate in this, and won't read it anyway! So relax, and have fun. "Anything that doesn' start with a damn L. ...Just about anything. Nnnno, not really. I mean, my middle name's worlds worse, but seriously? Mel's ridiculous naming meme or whatever got old after Lenny, who, FYI, was first born. Plus, should hell ever freeze over, and Rock and me ever get hitched, it'd work out better for my sanity in the long run; he can pull off the whole Super Pig first-and-last-name-start-with-the-same-letter BS, I can't. Anyway, I'unno. I've always been partial to K's and C's for some reason. Maybe it's just a 'grass is greener' thing." |

"Uhhh. I donno what, just, not Marcus. It makes me sound like, I donno, like a big ol' hunkin' football player who could piledrive a refrigerator. ... I'm not one of them. ... buuuuut on the other hand, I'm kinda used to it. And people only started callin' me Mako because of the M and the A (little kids ain't the most creative), and I like 'Mako'. Huh. ... I'll just stay with Marcus. Yeah! still wish Mimi would stop callin' me it, tho'." "I'm fine with my name the way it is, if only for lack of caring, not for any 'my name is so great' reasons. I just wish people would spell it right, and that nobody ever calls me 'Rudolph' ever again. (If I never heard that novelty song again, I'd be happy.) That aside, I've no complaints." (No answer could be procured from Murdoch, as he was intoxicated and took the insinuation that there was anything wrong with his name as an insult.) "I AM SIR CORIN REGINALD SIDNEY THEOPHILUS DUPONT QUIN--" "We know." |

"Ember. Yeah I know. Already Ember. Its cool like nothing else you know! Waiting to change my name for sure soon! I hate being Erica. Who names their kid Erica anyways? Just a cheap knock-off of Eric and so what if dad wanted a boy. Its a stupid name. Whoever came up with needs to get their head checked. I mean I don't want to have some dude's name hanging around me and whatever. Feels weird man. Like I have to be a guy or something. Sticking with Ember! Woo!" |

I swear to God my middle name has to be some kinda sick joke. I mean, thank my lucky stars I ain't some kinda... un, ungulate... er, equine... horse-person or, whatever. 'Side from that, I'm fine with my name. Never really gave it much though. Don't need to, anyway. Most people just know me as Ace, an' I'm fine with that. Not to toot my own horn, but I happen to think Carol is a very pretty name! It feels kind of charming and old-timey, like it'd be written in cursive from a feather pen. Onna the few things I have to thank me ol' mum for, really. |

"Eh, I don't know. I guess Geoff is an alright name... but seriously, did my parents just know or somethin'? 'Oh, I bet our boy is going to grow up to be a fine, rock-toting gentleman.' Pfeh, oh well, I guess. At least it's spelled a bit fancier than all the other Jeff's out there. It does get kinda of annoying on how common it sounds. Something flashier would have been appreciated, but a guy can't ask for everything, eh? When it comes down to it, it's better than Bob. Yeah, my parents actually considered that one." |

"Question: irrelevant. The data file containing this unit's identity was corrupted. Original name lost. Substituted with titular protagonist of Dynamic Comics #34 Apex - The Amazing Electron Man! Chosen name occasionally provokes laughter upon introductions. Exact reason why is unknown." |

"Hehe, well its certainly fun doing it. You know, see what he likes to do and work around that. Knew a guy that liked hiking, so I took him hiking. Got all willy though when we got to the end. Dunno why, was a great view of the forest fire going on. I mean stunning. Other than that, just keep them entertained. Maybe spruce up a bit. Take them out somewhere, maybe roast some marshmallows over a bonfire. Don't try surprising someone with an indoor bonfire. I learned that real quick. It was even contained, no reason to get all huffy. Stupid hawks. Usually works out swell for me! Though this one guy, let me tell you, he was the prime example of hot. Nothing worked though. Had the personality of a rock. Had to back off when his sister got ticked and came after me with a knife. Now, she had personality. Ain't that how it goes though?" |

"Well, obviously, I go to the item shop, buy myself an Attract TM, and -- What? No jokes? ... Oh, hell. This is so not up my alley. Look, I'm not really the titter-and-fidget type, you know? I mean, I ain't such a ridiculous tomboy that I've never considered how to attract guys, but I definitely lack insight on any method more sophisticated than 'have boobs' and 'don't wear much.' ... (Depending on the guy, you could prolly throw 'don't be fat' in there too.) I think I fit that criteria pretty okay. Seemed to work on Rock, for what it's worth; either that, or it was my side-splitting, internet meme and video game-related sense of hum-- Yeah, I'mma go with boobs, too. I have gotten the weirdest impression, though, that he -- for whatever reason -- gets a kick outta watching me beat things to a (sometimes) figuratively bloody pulp. Go figure. " |

Oh-Well I... uh... Well I ain't got any right clue really. I don't put much effort in presentin' myself in any way ta attract men. I never thought bout it, when all the men ya know work under ya you can't go about tryin to attact them. I don't know how I'd attract one that I liked, maybe spendin' time with him? I figure if theres someone I like, and I knew enough of 'em ta figure I had a chance I'd just... go ask him. If this was some sorta planned thing I might put on a dress. guys like dresses right? ...It's no wonder I'm single. |

"I don't have time for women. Being a hero is a full-time job. ...But if I had to, I dunno. Strike a pose? Invite'er on a ride on my motorcycle? Sounds like a good time to me." "Arr... If I knew that, I'da done the exact opposite... Now I gots a lady and a ship full'a brats, an' I don't even know how it happened!" |
