I dunno. I used to kinda be a showoff. Didn't get me too far with anybody worth goin' far with, though. If a shiny trick is enough to impress'em, they'll only stick around until the next shiny thing passes by, if you know what I mean.

More important to be friends first, I think. Don't have to impress a friend.

----

The female mind is a mysterious thing. The only way to outwit it, the only way to upset it and make it remember you is to be more mysterious. You gotta bewilder her senses, besmirch* her expectations. (*Juke may not know the meaning of this word.) I just do what comes naturally. Stare at her. Let her know I'm looking at her. That the hunt-master is on the prowl, and he likes what he sees. But then, shake it all up. I offer to buy her a drink. If she accepts, order for her, like a man. If she doesn't, order for her anyway. And then ignore her. You can't act interested in all that lady crap. They don't say any interestin' stuff in the first encounter. Gotta cut through the swath, through the curtain, get past the runaround. Show'em you won't take no crap. Maybe get up while she's in the middle of talkin', and go start a fight. Make sure to pick somebody who'll run away, o'course. That looks better. You don't wanna traumatize the lady with all that blood. Blood makes women scared.

Mm. Yeah...

I'm pretty sure this would work. I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet, though.

----

Impress a lady? I would be a liar if I said I never considered it...! But, I would like to think I'm not roving about, trawling for women.

Still, surely it can't hurt for one to dress neatly; mind one's manners; show respect; even be a bit romantic about things... without overdoing it, of course—Petrarchan sonnets compared to bawdy romance novellas, really. I would much rather be an Astrophil than a Flabio.

NEW QUESTION OF THE WEEK (this one was mostly for Greens):

What are five songs on your playlist? List any five, as long as you like them.

OOC:: I encourage these to actually be real songs, as most of us will probably not get the allusion if you try to parody the title or band name for the sake of not using "real world" stuff. Use the YouTube tags if you want, and if you so desire, you can have the character talk about why they like the song (as this will give insight into their personalities)!

"I won't bother tryna pick favorites, but in the well-thought-out order of 'it came up on shuffle, and I don't hate it,' first we haaaave -- Ooh. This one probably does at least rank in the top ten, if not higher: Peace of Mind. Sick orchestration, legendary guitar riffs, and good moral, or whatever. Also, the bassline may or may not be incredible.

Next up, we've gooot ... Oh, man. Pure bassgasm: Runaway. I love this song so much, it was like the first song I tried and failed to learn. Now I can play it in my sleep.

Moving along, we've got -- Uh. Aheh. Er... Silly Love Songs. Shut up, it's the bass part... Really.

Anyway. Maintain Consciousness; Powerchording, head-banging, musical junk food. I love it.

Ooh, last but not least: Billie Jean. Bass. Bass. Bass. 'Nuff said."

"Music is rarely available to me, I have little experience with it. There are only few instances in which I have been able to focus upon a song. Most music I encounter is frequently filled with distracting lyrics, words: irritating.
Few have been encountered which are enjoyable.

Song: Halo theme. It effectively blends genres I would have thought impossible to combine. It is fast moving, good build up and maintains a steady rhythm.

Song: Heart of Courage. Theme sufficiently conveys grandeur, the vocals do not detract from the music.

Song: Sunshine.
...
Indescribable."

... Playlist? Uhhh... yeah, alright. Don't expect much commentary.

- Rope

- Deliver Me

- Foreplay / Long Time (Choose this one to skip the huge-ass intro.)... Me 'n Jam always argue over which one's better—this one or Peace of Mind. My dad actually knows the Hammond part for this one note for note. This song's the only reason I ever laid hands on an acoustic guitar, too.

- Saturday Night's Alright ... My childhood in a song, but hey.

- Banks of the Deep End. I actually picked this one up pretty recently... Found it on the pilot's ePod when I commandeered the ship to fly everybody off ARK.

----

Aw yeah. Lez turn this thing up.

- Still of the Night. ... CAN'T TAKE NO MOOOOO, YAW.

Lessee. Next.

- Can't Be Touched. Yeah, I heard this tune at the boxing championship over on Westside. Was Velo Wilder's entrance theme. Sooo hardcore. I might make it my new theme song.

- Behind Blue Eyes. I identify with this song on... so many levels. You have no idea...

- Here I Go Again. ... *Sniff.* ... Always gets me right here.

- Whip my ... ... what, no. That's— my sister's.

Eh, sure, can't be too hard. Let's see 'f I can find some good ones.

T.K.O. Good start, here. It's a T.K.O.! Like halfway onna the dudes starts bustin' into bilingual rhymes. I can't understand a damn thing he's saying, but, I'unno. Listen to this when I work out, sometimes.

Flathead. Hella fun song to get wasted to. Kinda hard to listen to now, though... 'Minds me o' someone I'd, rather forget.

Hold On John. Ssshhhit, I forgot I had this one. This $%@& was like an anthem to me after high school. Some people said it was nothin' but a poem, but... maybe there ain't enough poets around, anyway.

Saving Grace. Yeah, 'nother goodie. I'mma big fan a' the guy who plays it. He's not famous enough for all the work he does.

Ain't Nothin' Wrong With That. Oh yeah. Dis my jam, right here.

I have been waiting for this question my entire life. So let's get to it! I will let shuffle be my guide. (But I'm skipping over the video game songs, those don't count.)

First up: Canned Heat. Aw, crap. I don't know if I'll be able to even top that one. This song is like sex on wheels, on fire. It's that great.

Nextly: Reeeeflection. ...Well, I didn't say I'd skip movie songs. And it is the original, of course. The radio version mucked up all the lyrics, and the singer just didn't have the same heart. Such a pretty song.

Followed by: ...

...D'well, just consider this one 'Ego Insurance'.

Moving on, we have: Suzy. Talk about funky fresh. A friend introduced me to this one. It's so fun to dance to, and so intense. Like I'm somebody else for four minutes. Somebody in charge. (I've considered showing Jam this one, too, being the bass-enthusiast she is.)

And last but not least... Oh, hahaha. This one's great. I like to tease Ace with it 'cause it reminds me him, bein' all Mister Coolguy.

May or may not edit this later for Rodolf.

"H'oookay, let's give this a shot. ... I donno, I just kinda listen to music when it sounds good. Usually loudly. I don't think I've got any real big explanations, y'know?

All My Best Friends are Metalheads. Awh yeah.

The Fire. I swear, there's nothin' like-- I mean, Reel Big Fish? ... totally not intentional. Yeah.

The Rascal King. I've heard people say there's another song by this group that reminds them of me, but Iunno...

Anthem. One of my friends back home is practically in, like, marriage-level love with these guys, but this is just about the only song of theirs I've ever really cottoned on to. ... still, it's pretty sweet.

Jab-- ... how on earth did this get on here...? Okay, this is better."

Ah whaddaya want. Music? yeah I don't listen to no %&$*# $%@&. Wha', y'still wanna know? Fine, whatever gets y'off.

Can't Stop It. Hm. This'un's sorta a black sheep, far as it goes. Wha'ever.
Look Pimpin'.
Survival.
Move. Know a couple really annoyin' idiot pigs who won't stop listenin' to this one, tho'.
Ain't That Funny. Ahw, hell yeah.

... Well, whatev'r. Y'happy now?

"Ho, man. Where to start... It's funny you would ask me that, because I try to update my helmet's play list once a week so I'm never caught in battle without the proper music. Okay, okay. The playlist:

Burning Finger. Sometimes, you just need a theme for one good hit. That's where this comes in.

A-Team. Classic.

Superman ... Shut up.

Gatchaman. This is what you should hear when I enter the room. Seriously.

Flash. Yyyyyyyep. This one is there, too."

Sorry it took so long, guys. Mother Hubbard's cupboard is barren.

New question of the week: Why do you wear what you wear?

Author:  psikeout [ Thu Sep 01, 2011 4:15 pm ]
Post subject:  Re: Question of the Week

'Cause it's all durable and won't catch fire. I try to never wear anything that burns. Same goes for the boots. The SIAF likes over-engineered stuff. The joints where the EVA-suit connected to the boots and gloves were flimsy in some of the first prototypes, so they "fixed" them. Now, alternative uses for SIAF's magboots include... I dunno, driving railroad spikes.

... One thing I've actually been asked is why we were issued uniform shorts. I guess it seems a little weird, but, they're actually a part of the "multifunction utility uniform." The important part of the getup is some really uncomfortable, black, skin-tight, mechanical-pressure extra-vehicular-activity suit, but that's usually worn with this blue "outer shell" garment, y'know, to protect from dust and finer debris, provide better wearer visibility—stuff like that. To save on weight, so the crew doesn't have to pack separate "cabin" uniforms, those outer parts can be worn without the pressure suit. The legs zip off the trousers, for comfort, exercise, so on.

----

'Cuz it looks badass. How often do y'see yellow leather vests, anyway? S'got all these awesome tribal mark things. I think they mean somethin', I dunno. Probably means "Badass" in Mazuri. If it doesn't, it should.

And my boots have fire on'em. I don't even have to say why. I wear'em 'cuz they're boots with fire on'em. Need more spikes, though...

Oh. And the shades. Cool-factor. That and light kinda hurts my eyes. Creature of the night.

"Attempts to find replacement outer shell: unsuccessful. I am forced to repair what damage there is to my current one.
I am only able to find inferior metals to help with this task but they are a short term solution to this problem.

Discarded raincoats are occasionally worn to help prevent rust when they can be found."
