A peculiar little robot much akin to a dragonfly, but with all a real dragonfly's elegant graces removed, bumbled and buzzed its way up, colliding with just about anything that could be collided with on the way to its target.
Once within range, it emitted a series of loud, horrible beeps, then began to speak with the artificial voice of an answering machine (replete with awkward stops, hesitation, and strange pronunciation).
"H e l l o, _recipient_," greeted the tiny robot. Yes, it actually said recipient; apparently the programming to make it say the individual's name failed. "Your presence has been requested by _DOCTOR HENSHIN__," the old man's voice suddenly and abruptly blared through, "for a meeting to be held at _WILD LABORATORIES_" —there it was again, at a volume that suggested he didn't know how to talk into a microphone like a normal person— "tomorrow, at 2:00PM South Island Standard Time. For more information, please listen to the following message from _DOCTOR HENSHIN_."
There was a crackle, beep, then fuzzy audio.
"IS THIS THING ON?!"
...
"HELLOOO?"
It almost sounded like a phone call. If one tried to respond, however, they'd soon find that it was indeed just a recorded message.
"Okay! Hi! This is DR. HENSHIN," he announced (unwittingly for the third time, at ear-busting volume), "and if this message is going to the right place, you're hopefully ... one of the people on this list! M... Murk... oh, I can't read these tiny little words...!"
*Rumple. Rumplerumple.*
"Mako! Mako Gale, Sheriff Jack Clarke, Keeeeeelie Ryan, or Ember... ... ... Ember." He soon discovered a lack of a last name on that one. "I'm trying to reach anyone who's available for a special task. I've worked with some of you before, but I know I'm a stranger to others. I'm simply looking for anyone who's proven their competence in upholding justice! All of you helped my protege, Wild Badge, in some way or another on his last assignment on Westside Island, so I'm hoping you'll be willing to help us out again!"
He went on to explain.
"I have reason to believe a very dangerous enemy may be gathering his forces, and I need capable young men and women to investigate. It's no small journey, and certainly no small task, but I do hope you'll come to my meeting and learn more about it. It isn't safe to say more in this message!"
There was a pause.
"IS THIS THING STILL ON?!"
...
"Okay. Well. Uh."
...
"I forget what else I was going to say, so just come to the meeting!" he shouted emphatically. "Two o'clock! Tomorrow! Wild Labs in Spring City!"
He added one more thing:
"Oh, and this message will now self-destruct."
The messenger robot was at this time likely hovering dangerously close to its recipient's face.
"Just kidding. This thing's expensive! I wouldn't do that. Speaking of which, bring it back in one piece, would you? You break it you bought it!"
The little robot then fell to the ground and deactivated.
... And exploded in a puff of smoke and spark.
