It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

As the first wave rolled up on the beach, there was something glittering, gleaming in the foam:
A pair of purple sunglasses.
And then came a second splash—Or more like a groan, followed by a thunderous roar. The first sizable roll of surf did not in any way compare with the utter tidal wave that followed; were the Tornado parked anywhere near the beach, it'd soon be parked somewhere else entirely when a shimmering, towering wall of water descended from on high, and flopped its chaotic mass onto the shore with crushing force. The full extent of the wave's reach was some distance into into town, though its destructive power was well broken before it reached its first building, threatening only to moisten the carpets of a restaurant here, or a bank's vestibule there.
Once the waters receded and drained away, there was utter silence, and certainly no sign of Knuckles.

Rock had indeed walked off with Ace, and soon counted himself lucky for it.
"Not easy, but not that ha...rrr...d."
That was what he said when he heard that sound and saw the shadow flooding across the ground before the water hit. It should come as no surprise that he bolted for it the split second he looked over his shoulder, raced into the nearest parking lot, used a parked car as a springboard, and made quite the dramatic leap for the balcony of a nearby hotel.
Which he missed. His mind had the will, but his legs had not the power; he thudded into the wall and window beneath said balcony, and though he had the presence of mind and control to make it not be that painful of an ordeal, he had no good handhold, and thus fell down to the ground just in time to end up fully submerged in the rolling tide.
By the time he got his head above water, he was two blocks away from where he started, and had collided with no less than three cars, one fire hydrant, and one bus.
The side of the parked bus was where he stopped. Spitting water and looking caught between being surprised and ready to punch the ocean in a fit of rage, the battered monkey clambered to his feet (with the support of the bus's fender), coughed his lungs clear, and then quietly composed himself without a word spoken or curse shouted.
He reached into his sopping wet pocket, his eyes dark, circled, and weary (or just blackened by repeated facial trauma experienced during the undertow—hard to tell) and pulled out a dripping cell phone. He turned it upside down; an improbable amount of water, looking to be somewhere around a quart, gushed from its every orifice.
"... Yeah, screw you, too, sea monster."

Jam's hopeful, otherwise high-spirited expression soured at the face of the blue coyote, whom for some reason, she felt could no more sell her jerky if she was starving than he could oxygen if she was suffocating. She couldn't help but raise both brows as she cast a half-lidded glance to the mole's pathetic desperation.
"Er, you kin have it," she said feigning a gracious sacrifice, thankful that she didn't have to explain to the CT (who'd obviously slaved over a hot stove for hours for her benefit) why she'd rather eat dirt than his Born to be Stupid beef snack.
"Maybe since I'm in better adventuring condition'n you, I'll jus' make a run for th' Burger Emperor; see'f I can find my missing yeti while'm out."

Tails gaped up at the arc of water as it loomed over the beach, higher and higher, blotting out the sky.
Then he turned and ducked, holding out his arms at his sides as if he was about to try and fly, and squeezing his eyes shut against the inevitable...
Deluge.
The wave hit the shore with an infrasonic 'thoom'. The stringy, teal-olive water surged up the beach and through the docks and the city streets beyond those. The tornado wallowed in it, drifting and grinding and making the screech of metal under intensely abrasive friction. It bore down on one wing, driving it into the ground as the other wing tilted wildly up into the sky, and then it finally succumbed, tipping over its front and nose-diving into the frothy brown murk.
Somewhere in the now rapidly-subsiding flood, a figure bobbed. Tails dog-paddled feverishly, having finally broken the surface of the water long enough to get his breath back. Resolutely digging away at the water, he managed to keep his head above water through several collisions and one incident with a series of unfortunately themed restaurant decorations.
Eventually the water deposited him with bad grace against a pair of recycling containers, the immediate vicinity of which was now awash in tin cans and sodden card-board, and left him struggling with a length of foam wrapping which had managed to get wrapped around his head.
After some time, he managed to disentangle the packing material from his head and got up, staggering a little.
"W-" he began, before spitting out a foam peanut. "Whoa!" he continued, "That was huge! That was--"
He saw the albino monkey at some distance across a parking lot, beside a couple of forlorn-looking buses.
"Hey!" he shouted, hurrying across the inundated pavement, "Are you OK?"

[ Not sure if their in a location to notice the wave offhand, So... Yea. ]
Mnn.. “ He shrugged, turning his focus towards Teck again only to have it drifted off into a general look about his own surroundings as he spoke” To be honest I'm not entirely familiar with the majority of this city.. not entirely fond of urban environments to begin with myself... , The current state of things isn't much help either.. “
He paused a moment, glancing towards the general direction of the coast line a moment as if he heard something only to dismissed it for the time being.
“As for the name, It's Juneau, And your correct on the traveling part.. “ he lifted his flask again as if to drink in mid speech, but instead groaned lowly upon realizing the container was empty, curling the left corner of his mouth into a frown as he continued to speak. “Makes life easier to keep the personal 'n trade essentials compact and with me when possible..“
With the flask now empty he quietly tucked the container back into his vests inner pocket while glancing towards Velo a moment prior to resuming his focus towards the direction of the shoreline again, mumbling lowly under his breath. “Meh.. Surprised it lasted as long as it did.. “ “..Eh.. Any of you hear something, ...or is Myr playing another trick on me..?” Reaching back with his free hand he tapped his pack lightly a few times before returning his arm to his as he glanced over his shoulder a moment before returning his focus towards the direction of the coastline again.

"EeeeYES," the mole happily exclaimed, grabbing at the dried meat not too desperately to add a "thank you" at the end. "But the joke's on you, my friend. I only need six more Pleasure Points™ until I can afford my own Rugged Red cowboy hat! Ha-ha..." And she began wrestling with the plastic package to reveal her prize within (with a very small degree of difficulty).
"Pleasure Points for my beeeef jerky, eheh heheh."
*POP*
"Hey, I'm cool with sharing some with you," she said to the departing monkey, producing a strip, putting it in her mouth, and using every muscle in her head trying to chew the rough hide. "'Dese shings urr shupposh'd t'be rearry goo' f'roo, y'dow."
---
And as Caz busied herself attacking a slice of beef jerky, Ace was under attack. By the ocean.
Luckily there was only a brief, fleeting moment where Ace experienced the painfully stupid, hate-yourself-later phenomena known as deer in the headlights syndrome. It was hard not to be simply amazed by the sheer mass of H20 coming to crush him. ("Oh, crap.") Thankfully, it was shook off quickly enough (he hoped), and he started hauling ass towards the only form of cover he could find.
A lamp post.
...No, that wasn't going to work.
But he was out of options and out of time, so, hey, he improvised. He whipped off his jacket, wrapped it around the lamp post, held on to the sleeves with a kung fu grip, and as the massive wave came crashing down, he braced himself. He was almost very literally blown out of his socks as the mass of water set him in a waggling horizontal posture, his stomach level with the ground. But his 'plan' actually seemed to be working for a bit, at least until a stray whiskey bottle of all things came to greet him. In the face.
And, as expected, he was subsequently tossed about the streets, smacking and almost smacking into a number of things. As luck would have it, he would eventually roll (back-first and upside-down) into the bus that the others stood by, coughing out the water in his throat.
"...Why is it, that when I have a bad feeling about something," he hacked, standing himself with some obvious aggravation. "I'm always right?"

"Yeah, I'm good," answered Rock with a voice that sounded like he was saying it to reinforce the thought for himself, rather than convey it to somebody else. He started to ask the same question, but the kid looked better off than he did. Perhaps having a propeller butt helped with that sort of thing.
He took a quick look around and realized the headcount was one short.
"Where's your buddy?"

Tails was bent over double by the time he had crossed the parking lot to where Rock and Ace had washed up. He gasped for breath, bracing his hands against his knees--the shock had worn off and the strain of fighting a thousand or so cubic yards of rushing water was beginning to catch up with him.
"Huh... guh.... whew.... huh.... hooo.... huh...."
The white monkey spoke. Tails continued to stare at the ground as the sounds sank through his ears and into his water-logged brain, and gradually distilled themselves into words.
"Huh... wh... what?"
He looked up.
No Knuckles. He looked around, he looked back. There was still no Knuckles to be seen. He took a deep breath.
"KNUUUCKKUUUUULLsssshuh--HUHK--hoo, hoooo, huh...." he trailed off, panting.
"Knu... KNUUUUCKLEEEES!!"
"He... huh... he must've been out in the ocean when the wave hit! I... what if it crested right on him! He...!" He stopped, mid-panic, "No. He's a good swimmer. He must've felt it coming and dived down so it wouldn't get him so bad. Maybe... huh... he's probably around here somewhere..."

"He was in the ocean?" Rock echoed in near-monotone as he paused from taking his wet jacket off. He sighed, finished removing the article, slung it over his shoulder, and rested his free hand on his waist as he contemplated how to best phrase his follow-up.
"... There were waves when the ships disappeared, too," he explained. "Whatever got them probably got him."

"What?" Tails was once again totally upright.
"He... What? He can't...! But what if something happened to him? The Master Emerald..."

“Is gonna need a new damn guardi...”
Ace trailed off. In the middle of what would've been a rather grim report, the grungy cat seemed to have realized, that for all his famous technological exploits, this two tailed fox was still a child no more than eight years old. And while he deserved a bit of respect, he was still just a kid. Who was Ace to just dash his hopes like that?
He shot Rock a quick glance and shook his head lightly, hoping he'd see the message.
“Well...” he began again. “He's a real tough guy, isn't 'e? He's not goin' down down without a fight.”

Tails looked at Ace, and then looked down.
"Yeah..." He said, blandly. A piece of debris drifted against his ankle, an old water-bottle, half-crumpled. He let out a vehement sigh--a concentrated burst of air--and kicked the plastic bottle aimlessly. It splashed down a few feet away.
Then he looked a little closer at it. It drifted in the water, relatively harmlessly, for all the beating it had received.
Tails looked up at the two of them again, nervous with a kind of jittery enthusiasm.
"What if..."
He stopped again, an uneasy suspicion creeping over his face as something crossed his mind. He turned and looked at the beach. His jaw dropped.
"The Tornado!" He took off running towards the beach at speed, "I have to find the Tornado!"

(We're downtown. We'd notice the noise and maybe some traveling flooding waters but not as much of a brunt as those at ground zero. At least this is what I recall, correct me if I'm wrong.)
"Not much I don't hear, m'boy, I've just been... putting it off, though. Several hours in this cracktown and you accustom yourself to odd noises. Either way, it's quite a pleasure to meet you, Juneau, you can call me Teck."
But when someone else couldn't resist posing their curiosities to this bizarre sound, that's when Teck's attention was officially drawn. He peeked over Velo's shoulder seeing as how the Basilisk was in his way from gazing out into the direction of the beach. The tidal wave had already hit the ground by then, and all Teck could see with his horrendous vision was a light glisten from the somewhat-distant flooding waters as the afternoon sunlight beat against them. It made it look as though they were close to the ocean even though he was certain they weren't. "Is the water supposed to be that close to us, guys?"

The monkey looked on with some sympathy at the harried boy as he twirled from one concern to the next, first from Knuckles, and then to the Tornado, which Rock could only presume was the aircraft he'd seen the kid flying moments before.
"He's probably gonna need help," he commented to Ace, with a suggesting look. "You mind? I gotta make a call."
He jutted a thumb toward a nearby phone booth, which miraculously still stood (though a little crookedly). It was partially filled with murky water, and looked to contain seaweed, and maybe a fish, but it'd have to do.
OOC: Assuming nobody has objections, I'll probably skip us ahead to the evening or something and open a new thread after closing this one up with another round of posts.

OOC: Oh, and I didn't mean that as a "stop RPing in this thread now," by the way. If you've got something to react to, by all means proceed on. I was just letting you know I haven't checked out, and that I intend on moving things forward in a meaningful way for us, but circumstances have not been conducive to spending time on RP stuff.
