Sonic Spindash RP is closed.

Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.

It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

As much as Rock felt he should have been insulted by being called Monkey Man, it rang true that he was both a monkey and man, and he thus dismissed with the smallest of shrugs to himself, and hopped down from the tank.

He stopped and peered up at the squatty tower that loomed overhead.

"Look."

One of the building's two big spectacle "lenses" (or rather, huge, round windows made to look like Eggman's trademark specs) slid open, revealing the target of all their ire standing with arms outstretched wide, greeting them with great flounce and panache, all while staying out of reach.

"Welcome," he shouted grungily, "to the humble roots of an empire! Everything begins with a good supply chain, you know?"

A platform extended out of the "eye" of the building, and he walked out along it, peering down at them. He held something in one hand behind his back; it looked like a bundle of fabric of some sort, innocuous enough, but odd.

"Logistics are key! And before you, you have the single greatest logistics network known to the history of all mankind... A portal to anywhere. However, I don't expect the likes of you to appreciate this kind of hard work, technology, and sophistication, though, no, nonono. Tch." He folded his other hand behind his back as well, and held his head high, trying his best to look smug, but grinning a bit too much to fit the part. He eventually looked down again. "Well... perhaps you'll appreciate it, Tails." He almost seemed to spit the name. "Seems you were one of only two of my most favorite friends who decided to come and pay me a visit today, weren't you? All these strangers and nobodies... Has Sonic sunk so low he can't show his face anymore? Maybe he knows when he's met his match!"

He began ohohoho cackling, like always.

"But it seems you people... don't. So I'll take a moment to show you what you're up against! I'm just all sporting like that."

He raised a hand, snapped a finger, and the other eye of the building lit up like a giant screen, giving a view of events occurring far away. It appeared to be... Central City. And sure enough, one of those giant, puffer-fish-like vessels was in the picture, looming down over the city, though only its mouth was visible, since the camera was too close.

"As you can see, the least weapons in my arsenal are preparing to crush the world's most powerful capital. Let's ... hm. That's not a very good view at all. You can hardly see the destruction it's about to wreak. Hang on a second, would you?" he asked so politely, then giddily added, "You've gotta see this," as he pulled out a remote and made a few button presses.

The camera view switched a few times, then panned out, and revealed... the same puffer fish airship, actively on fire, missing its right eye, streaming pillars of smoke, and barreling over the city, on a crash course with a distant mountain range.

Eggman stood frozen in utter shock, his jaw practically on the floor. He pressed buttons rapidly.

"I have more! I have more. That's just one. Someone got lucky!"

Camera views changed rapidly, until another was found. This one was chasing what looked to be a red biplane—A much older looking biplane than the one Tails had flown in... In fact, it looked like the original Tornado. Eggman's brows raised and his mustache bristled at the sight of it.

The biplane climbed high into the air. The bulky puffer-shaped airship attempted to follow, but just as it pointed its mouth at the more agile airplane looping overhead, something blue leapt out of the pilot's seat, dove out of the plane, and straight into its mouth.

The puffer twisted in the air, and bulges began appearing in its sides one after another. One of its big, glassy eyes shattered. More bulges appeared. Finally, the rear end of the ship burst in flame, and the spinning blue ball emerged from the other side just in time to fall back onto the biplane as it looped beneath.

Sonic the Hedgehog had just single-handedly loop-de-looped an airship, disembarked from an airplane, attacked said airship, exploded out the other side of it, and timed it well enough to land back in his own plane at the bottom of the loop.

Eggman's face was frozen in aghast horror. He emitted but choking and gurgling sounds.

"Hm... impressive..." said Sheffer, having just chuckled his way through the footage. He currently stood just outside the group, leaning an arm on his propped board, staring up to the eye-screen, seeing the destruction caused by the blue hedgehog.

His eyes then darted to the rotund doctor, seeing his utterly shocked expression, laughing lightly. With a shrill whistle from his lips to catch the man's attention, he yelled up to Eggman in a mocking tone.

"Hey, Doc!" he began, waving his hand a bit. "Remember me?"

Sheffer then pointed a finger towards the giant screen, still fixated on the burning puffer-fish-robot-thing.

"Completely called that!"

Mako let out a low whistle as he lifted himself out of the tank and jumped down, at last, to the ground. He flashed another grin as he looked up at the screen, eyes darting side to side to take in all the action, almost as though he were at a summer popcorn-muncher movie, not standing in a subterranean base watching footage of real things exploding at the hands of a world-class hero.

"I got out at the right time, didn't I? Don't wanna miss the explosions," he said as he stretched out his arms and legs, swishing his tail a few times to make sure it hadn't suffered any damage from whacking it against the side of the tank.
Satisfied, he turned his attentions to the man and he raised an eyebrow, grinning. "Hey, that's the mustache-guy," he remarked nonchalantly, rubbing his nose a bit, almost as though he didn't care that he was looking up at a mechanical-genius would-be-dictator, particularly one that had caught him and stuck him in a tank for who-knows-how-long.

Heck, he didn't know what was going on, so why should he bother himself with it? Though all these people seemed to care... quite the conundrum. One that the shark would be pondering if he weren't distracted by the "oooh, explosions" factor.

"So, uh, what's the big deal?" he asked of no-one in particular, not expecting an answer as he looked around.

Of course, the first instinct the cat could experience when the glorious 1080p wide screen began broadcasting the cityscape was a very blunt and humor-dropping concern for the mole he left back home. In fact, he was already beginning to conjure up the most vile of threats to spew at the doctor, when lo and behold, what should Eggman's projector show other than Sonic the goddamn Hedgehog. Making an utter fool out of his nemesis once again.

"Mmmm...," Ace hummed thoughtfully as he rubbed at his chin, and clicked his tongue in mock-disappointment. "Ooohh, that don't look good..."

So it was with a well-hidden sigh of relief that Ace re-evaluated his opinion on the hedgehog as a whole, and put extra effort into rubbing the doctor's defeat rrrriiiight in his face.

"Yo, scales," he called to the newest new guy (and taking note of the head that he held so high in the clouds). "See that blue thing? He's the good guy. He's fightin' a' all mustache-guy's machines. And he's winning, too!"

"Yeah, meanwhile, we're trapped in a cavern about to collapse under five hundred million metric ass-tons of magma, and we'll all be suffering or dying if we don't make good on this opportunity to take out the 'mustache guy' then get the hell out," the primate explained brusquely, following Ace's comment, never shifting his eyes from above. To be a guy who enjoyed causing damage as much as he did, Rock seemed markedly unamused by the show of Eggman's failure. It only meant more trouble was to come, and as of yet, he could determine no safe way to climb the tower without definitely getting shot down.

"See, this' just gonna piss him off," he added in a low voice. "If things start to go south, that huge hole has a portal out of here in it." He pointed at the aforementioned hole that the big, squatty, egg-eiffel-tower-like building was straddling. "I just don't know where it leads, so..."

The "use at your own discretion" went unsaid, but heavily implied.

If Toby's jaw could've reached to the floor, that's where it would've been. His mouth was gaping wide as the fish-ship got it's butt totally busted by the blue blur himself. "That was SICK!!" Both of the kid's hands balled into fists and went straight into the air, and his mouth formed a perfect "O" as a "Whoo!" escaped his lips. His elation wouldn't last long, though, as he and the others' celebration was brought back down to earth by Rock's reminder. Toby's eyes widened, and then his brow furrowed. Stay on task, Cotton! Come on! "Roger!" Toby was officially in action mode. His head whipped around to Kyle. "Kyle! We give 'im the old one-two! You go left, I take right!"

"Da tu mi!!" Kyle nodded, and his little expression changed to match that of his counterpart. His tiny shield flared up around him as he readied himself.

"Let's roll!" With that, Toby's foot slammed on his board's boost, and he shot up into the air, serpentining as he went. Kyle hung onto the boy's neck, and about half way up, cut away to the left. Who knew what their plan was, but they seemed to be speeding at the good doctor from two different angles.

"Wait!"

Tails jumped after the duo as they sped towards the top of the tower, and the dangerously thin ceiling with the bubbled, broken crack that ran all the way through, over the top of the tower.

He began flying again, but didn't chase them any higher than thirty feet.

"Wait—Ohhh!"

He dropped down closer to ground level again, with a intensely agitated expression on his face. It was very little surprise. He had just seen Sonic.

In the past, it had been very hard to tell when Sonic would be around and when he wouldn't. This was okay. Tails had always just assumed that Sonic would be back in time to save whatever needed saving from whoever it needed saving from. There had been a couple times when Sonic hadn't, but it was okay too because he got there in the end.

This time, though, it had been.... different. Things had gone wrong, and kept going wrong, and Sonic was no-where in sight, and Tails—however he had tried not to—very slightly began to wonder if Sonic would come back at all, and if he did, what would it be like.

He had visions—well, he had a few—of Sonic coming back in five years time, and what it would be like. Would the hedgehog just plonk himself down into the life he had occupied for so long or would everything be... different.

He wasn't sure what sort of different it would be. He had preferred not to think about it.

Then Sonic arrived on the screen, and Tails had punched the air and spontaneously shouted Sonic's name before he even knew what he was doing. He'd cheered and he might have jumped up and down a bit, although he couldn't quite remember at this point, because the action had started.

Eggman had gotten Angry, and the rat and his chao had gone capering away off at top speed and everything had become intense and fast-paced again, and there were a lot of new variables to process, a lot: the portal; the state of the ceiling; the upcoming threat; but that was ok, because...

Yeah, because Sonic was back.

Tails' mind raced.

He dropped back down to the ground.

"Um, um, um," he looked around at the crowd around him, and looked back at the rapidly unwinding situation up above, and began speaking as quickly as possible, "okay! Eggman might be really careless but he's really smart, so whatever he has won't shake up the crystals too much!—theylookreallyunstablebytheway—and this crystal is everywhere so he's probably going to use something based on it, so it's main weakness may be to light! There's not a lot down here, but if you can see anything with crystal in it try to get it out in the open!"

He looked back up at the tower above, glancing back at the group only once to see how they were taking the information. It had to be said though, that his attention was a little bit more on the TV screen than it was on the rest of the scene.

The situation's many twists and turns rolling out before their congregated audience like a carpet hit one right after the other to the point where Jam had grown increasingly quiet, contrastingly to the chatter bubbling around her. Just taking it all in and trying in vain to analyze what it all meant for them took far more brain power than the monkey probably would have felt comfortable admitting, given her opposite-end-of-the-spectrum super-computer-like counterpart's multitasking prowess.

She'd just barely processed that some bad stuff happened, then something kinda good, and then a whole dump truck full of "we're screwed" seemed to deposit its load somewhere after that. Unlike Ace and Sheffer, Jam could only see poor outcome on their end from Sonic's successes, and her stomach sunk just a little with Rock's confirmation.

As if their morale really needed any more damage on top of that, both he and Tails then proceded to remind them all just how precariously perched their well-being was, and the miscolored monkey flopped her head backward and sighed up to the ceiling.

"S'it's gonna be onna those days...?" she asked, her voice dripping with trepidation, as, more feebly than it had all day, her lightning-woven sphere sprung forth from her right wrist, and wound its way around her with an equally enthusiastic bzzrt.

"This' all the light I got," she spoke up, looking around. "Anybody else got anything?"

Tails looked at the crackling, sparking monkey; this was really the first time he had had the opportunity to notice what it was that she could do.

"That's a lightning ring!" He stated, impressed and mildly awed.

"You're all so happy Sonic came through in the end, aren't you."

It was a question, but he said it oh, so flatly, with bubbling rage underneath.

"Well, I have baaad news for you. He's out there—Not down here saving you!"

He was angry. That much was for certain. However, his rage was contained, bulging and frothy, behind a thin veil of composure, reinforced by what confidence he had remaining, which was actually substantial. Whatever his trump card was, it was that bundle of fabric he had been hanging onto. He picked it up again and hurled it carelessly off the platform, down to the others. As it plummeted, its form became clearer: It actually looked like a body, wrapped in bandages.

Did he just throw a mummy at them?

It wasn't very big, barely even near Jam's height from the looks of things. It struck the floor with a fleshy, bony sort of *tunk* noise, almost painful to hear, and laid there a second.

Eggman meanwhile hustled away, those spindly, spider-like legs whisking him back into the safety of his domain. Toby and Kyle were actually not that far away, thanks to the flight boost of the rat's gear, but before they could reach the altitude necessary to confront him, all the artificial lighting around the structure went off, and things became dark.

Correction—They became unnaturally dark. The glow of the magma outside the distant crystalline walls and ceilings faded to black, and there was a raucous whoosh, and a blast of wind powerful enough to dismount Toby from his board and very nearly knock everyone on the ground level off their feet. Strange, shrill laughing noises pierced the air for just an instant, and everything grew very cold.

The blackness slowly went away, and the glow of the walls returned. When light levels returned to normal, the mummified figure standing in front of them was on its feet. It seemed to have long spikes hanging from its head, each individually wrapped in fabric, and large, blunt fists, each with a set of spikes... and when its eyes snapped open, they were vivid purple.

What a familiar fellow that was. With the way he raised his fists and started forward, though, it was clear that familiarity didn't mean friendship at the moment.

Then again, even some other members of their own party who were friends began to posture themselves a bit strangely toward the others—Specifically, the members of the party who had pocketed some extra crystal treasures along the way. The bluish gems pulsated visibly through the fabric of Jam's pouch, the inside of Ace's jacket, and Toby's pocket.

Mako had let out a little yelp that was anything but manly, having fallen soundly on his tail with the gust of air. About to make a smart remark about the lights when they came back on, he blinked a few times and chuckled. This stopped fairly promptly when the form was thrown at them, and he raised an eyebrow when it rose up.

"Friend of yours?" he muttered to nobody, pushing himself to his feet a bit clumsily, before he blinked, rubbed his eyes a bit more, and a small bit of confusion, maybe a bit of apprehension, rose in him. He did not think peoples' parts were supposed to glow. He cleared his throat:
"Y'know, I've been in the dark this entire time," yes, all five minutes, "and so I think someone owes me an explanation on what the heck's with the glowing and the mummy-dude, dudes."
Then again, did he really expect them to know...?

"What, this old thing? I guess it's pretty cool."

A reckless, but flashy trick or two high on the wow-factor would follow.

Normally.

That was how Jam customarily responded to the Lightning Ring Envy her beloved trinket usually garnered.

Today -- Right now, her response was decidedly different.

Tails' admiring was received with silence, and the monkey's previously slouchy posture had straightened drastically, becoming rigid, and unnatural. The shield itself seemed to have responded in synchronization with the monkey's wordless, but slow and purposeful advance, snapping and spitting ravenously, as its long, lashing tongues of 30,000 amps searched blindly for some quarry.

It and its wielder looked considerably darker than usual, save for that off glow bleeding through her hip pack.

The theatrics or boot cycle, or whatever it was that had produced those unsettling first steps forward ended abruptly, culminating in sudden lunge forward spearheaded by both electrified fists one right after the other, both irrefutably aimed for the boy genius' face.

In case anyone was still uncertain, something was very wrong.

Sheffer, in all honesty, wasn't at all affected by the sudden darkness of the chamber, thinking it was just another one of the doctor's tricks. But then, some light returned, showing the spike-fisted figure now before them, covered in the wrappings. This shocked the hedgehog somewhat, the person having a... mummified look to them.

But his attention on the newcomer didn't last long, hearing a high crackling sound, his head whipping around to find the red-hued monkey. A large sphere of what appeared to be electricity spun around her, Sheffer feeling the energy in the air even from where he was standing. The first thing that could have come to mind was that the primate was preparing to attack their new threat, but no, she was instead aiming for someone else.

Acting hastily, the green hedgehog rushed over, diving into a straight-on tackle at the two-tailed fox he hadn't even given a glance before. The force of the impact would sure give the fox a bruise or two, but that didn't matter when fists filled with amps upon amps of electricity were heading straight towards one's skull.

Landing with a painful thud onto the metal ground, Sheffer rolled to his back, then jumped to his feet, facing the monkey. Something wasn't right here... not right at all. This primate was out of her mind, and from a few glances, so were a few others.

He began to wonder what caused this...

So close, yet so far away. As the lights dimmed, Toby state of boarding nirvana was accosted by a huge gust of wind that completely uprooted his balance, sending him soaring through the air. "Wh...WHOAAA!!" Flipping and spinning, it looked by all accounts that Toby was going to go somersaulting to the ground, and add a few broken bones to his high score of eight. Not so.

Tumbling through the air, Kyle quickly recovered himself just in time to notice his buddy plummeting to the ground below. "AH! TOBA!" The little guy darted as quickly as his tiny wings could carry him, and grabbed onto the scruff of the boy's shirt. Kyle tugged with all his might upwards, straining to slow Toby's fall and help his big buddy avoid some serious injury. Like a gelatinous parachute, Kyle's flapping wings set Toby down on the ground soflty enough to avoid injury, though it was still enough to knock the pair of would-be heroes to the ground.

Kyle hovered over the boy's body, checking him out. "...Bija ba ji... ju?"

Unfortunately for the chao, the purple glow in Toby's pocket meant the boy was not "ju". He was not "ju" at all. As he slowly rose to his feet, Toby's eyes blankly met his companions. An uncomfortable silence hung thick in the air between the pair. As sudden as the gust that had caused his fall, Toby swung at Kyle, just barely missing the jelly-belly's squishy form. Tuning immediately, Toby's brows furrowed. He wasn't stopping.

"Ahhh!" Shocked, Kyle darted around, narrowly missing Toby's blows as they just kept on coming. For the life of him, the chao had no clue what was going on, save for the fact that his care-taker had full on gone bananas. The little guys squeals could be heard quite a ways... easily in the hearing range of a certain white monkey. "Sa! Saaa!!! Miji tu mi!!
