It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

"N'oh, jheez..." The first thing that came out of Ace's mouth as soon as he realized exactly what Rock's "plan" was. He hand smacked up against his temple and subtly slid to the back of his head. He didn't look down on the monkey's plan, not in the least. His closed teeth and peeled back lips seemed to say nothing more than what he did already. He almost felt like he should propose throwing somebody to that destination himself, but, thought better of it.

"So on this little chao does the fate of our world rest. God help us all."

He busied himself checking out the situation. The guys in the SSD shuttle were being about as useful as a screen door on a submarine, and the hedgehog was taking on Silver Sonic by his lonesome. While Ace could compliment the new guy's abundance of balls (or lack of brain matter), worried what this meant for society even after this adventure was over. Either way, he was a lovely distraction, so he at least cheered the kid on mentally, if not out loud.

Kyle's tiny head tilted to the side in typical puppy-dog fashion as Rock explained the plan. The tiny ball above his head turned into a question mark, and the chao made a soft cooing noise. As the monkey finished up his pep talk, the gelatinous orb shifted into an exclamation point, and Kyle wrapped both of his little arms around the heavy chain, struggling not to lose altitude.

"Jiji ba, Roca!! Hmmmph! Tu mi ka biju!!"

As the Toby's tiny doppleganger turned to fly off into the dangerous pit, the boy stopped him momentarily. "Hold up, little dude. Here..." With a little effort, Toby slipped his remaining ring over Kyle's squishy and malleable head, making it look like a makeshift collar. "...This is just in case." Toby smirked, and patted Kyle on the head. "This time, you don't have to behave. Go make a mess of things... Just be careful, okay?"

Kyle's face conjured up a smirk to match Toby's, complete with furrowed chao-brows. As he floated in the air, still working hard to keep the chain up, Kyle coughed up an almost devious little laugh. "A biju biju re, Toba! Hee!"

With that, Kyle was off, crackling with static electricity as he bolted down into the giant lava-filled pot hole. One chao. One desire. This summer, Kyle the chao is... The Chain-Carrier. Summer 2011.

"So, don't wait—Act now!" said Eggman in his best as-seen-on-TV voice, and concluded sinisterly, "I'll be waiting."

He shut off the transmission and dismissed the camera bots, which promptly buzzed back to the safety of the tower. Attention then returned to the matter at hand: His guests. Conveniently, Sheffer still seemed to be soaking up a lot of attention—So much so that Eggman looked on aloofly with mild amusement, resting his elbow on his ship's side, and his cheek in his palm, and just taking in the action. For a moment, he wondered why Silver Sonic looked so beat up... He had missed what did the damage, and pondered for a moment if the green hedgehog had actually been the culprit.

"I think he needs more spikes," he thought aloud. "Spikes always work. Everybody hates spikes! ..." Nod, nod, contemplate.

His brow suddenly twitched, and he snapped out of his daydreams of robotic improvement and world domination, and quickly craned his neck (Or whatever stump of something on his shoulders his head was partially embedded in) to look at the SSD's transport.

"You're still here?" he blurted, then realized no one could hear him. Oops. (Insert a choppy, arm-flailing snatch of the microphone.) "You're still here?" he repeated, and loudly. "Was there some part of something I said that you little ditch-diggers didn't understand, hm? Or maybe you were hoping I'd offer you a position in my new government... You know, if that's the case, I just might consider it!"

His grin spread.

"—But there are tryouts!"

*Click.*

... None of the gun turrets activated, surprisingly enough. Instead, the top of the tower looked like it began to reconfigure and open... and an all new gun, about five times larger than any of the others, sprang up quickly, flipped down with an extreme, heavy-metal clank, and hummed loudly as it tracked the SSD craft, both from the whine of the powerful electric motors that rotated it, and from the charging capacitors. It didn't have a perfect range of motion, but it was plenty for following aerial targets.

They had mere seconds before an armored, protective lens cover on the gun snapped open with lightning speed, and a blazing beam about a couple feet in diameter—A laser, obviously moving at the speed of light—suddenly appeared in the air, and attempted to cleanly dice off the rear of their craft (and with it, presumably, its main thrusters). Eggman was brutish and liked overkill, for sure, but preferred to play with his victims in that way.

Meanwhile, it seemed the group of punks off the side weren't warranting any attention at all, not even for their electric chao carrying his chain. On the trip there, thanks to the lowness of his flight, he only came within range of one gun; there was a nerve-wracking moment in which it panned and followed him, lined up a shot, then opened fire with a couple shots, but both blurts of burning plasma projectiles bounced off his little electric shield harmlessly. Seconds later, when he arrived against the tower, he was pretty much out of range of everything. Several guns swiveled and tried to point at him, but none were able to fire without hitting the tower itself.

Kyle pumped his tiny wings as hard as he could, lugging the heavy chain the last few feet of its journey. Looking a bit like a claw machine, Kyle moved back and forth, and finally looped the chain onto one of the large antennae, successfully completing his little mission. "Chaa-o! Yaa!" The strawberry jelly-belly bounced around, apparently doing a little victory dance before he flipped around and beat a hasty retreat right back the way he came.

"Haha, yes!! That's my man!" Toby grinned from ear to ear as the little guy pulled it off. The kangaroo rat's eyes locked on the chao and traced him as he made a beeline for the group.

The SSD drop-ship lurched as the super-hot beam from the tower connected and began to cut through the metal sheeting like a knife through butter. Alarms wailed ominously inside the aircraft as piece after piece of electronics smoked, and then wilted and fell apart in the face of the sun-like glare of the laser beam.

The starboard engine roared as uncontrolled fuel lines began pumping. The turbines inside the engines whined and screamed as the whole craft began, under the mis-matched power of the engines, to roll. The pilot apparently tried to compensate, because the port engine throttled up almost as quickly to match the thrust of its twin, raising the ship out of the line of fire of the beam.

The damage had already been done, however; the ship, now listing horribly, and unable to lower power on any of it's controlled jets, veered off to the side, and began to slip through the air as its inertia turned it further and further into a dive.

It roared off to the west, vanishing over the lip of the massive bowl of the island, and out of sight.

OOC: Taking over Silver Sonic for the moment. Sorry for the delay, Sheff.

--

After all the ruckus of trying to shoot Sheffer until his insides leaked out in seared, caked-up chunks, things suddenly got quiet on Silver Sonic's end of the fight. The large amount of clutter in on their battlefield had made projectile attacks and target tracking difficult, so, Silver Sonic arrived at one of those deadly, robotic, logical conclusions.

And so, he just stood there a moment as the hedgehog rapidly approached him, to see what exactly it was the guy was going to actually try to do to the armored hulk when he got there.

OOC: Eh, it's fine. I don't have any complaints.

---

Halfway through his already projected path, Sheffer heard the gunfire stop, taking a glance over to the metal hedgehog. It now stood there, no guns a-blazing, just watching him in silence. It turned with his movements, only tracking him for the time being.

This wasn't right. Through that metal shell and within its circuitry, he just knew that robot was trying to plan something or another. Whether it was simply to think ahead for its next attack, or wait for an opportune moment to do so, Sheffer now felt at unease from the mechanical being's inactivity. He himself would now have to contemplate on what to do next, not wanting to close the gap between him and it for the time being.

But what else was he supposed to do? Sit here and have a staring contest with the thing? No. He had intended to try something, anything, to stop the robotic creation, even if he failed in process. And he definitely could not do that sitting there like a bump on a log, useless. He had his one, easy, pain-free try clasped in his hand, and the sturdy pipe in the other; a shield and a weapon. No guts, no glory, they always say.

Without a moment's hesitation, Sheffer twisted his board, now aiming straight for Silver Sonic. He immediately shot forward, accelerating quickly, dirt and dust being thrown up behind the board. This would a be a headlong offensive strike if anything, Sheffer not allowing himself to back out.

"C'mon, c'mon, c'mon... do something!" he muttered under his breath, his eyes fixed on the robot, just waiting for it to make its move. He was completely alert, ready to avoid anything thrown at him in a moment's notice. He wasn't going to lost the ring just yet...

Silver Sonic's arms remained at his sides, just barely bent. There was a slight movement of his horrifying, gun-fingered hands, too slight to really likely notice or even be alarmed by (since they didn't move to aim directly at the hedgehog, anyway). Then, just a couple seconds before Sheffer was to get within range, there came a single, sudden blast—Not targeted at him.

Ten plasma bolts simultaneously blasted the ground a short distance ahead of Silver Sonic, and an utterly obfuscating and disruptive plume of dust, smoke, dirt, and fine gravel exploded high into the air. The robot had timed it such that, by calculation, Sheffer's momentum would almost invariably carry him at least to the other side of the curtain of debris... but once there, the hoverboarder would find the robot conspicuously missing.

There hadn't been much time to react to the new gunfire, but Sheffer was surprised when he saw the projectiles not aiming for him, but the ground before him. He instantly twisted his body, and the board, sideways, his speed immediately dipping as he braked through the cloud of dust.

Coughing lightly, he suddenly emerged from the cloud on the other side, finally coming to a complete stop. It was gone. The robot had up and vanished, having used its own weapons as a convenient distraction. Sheffer wildly looked around now, not knowing where it had gone. Having absentmindedly slipped the ring over one of his fingers, it dangled there as he gripped the metal pipe, his senses on alert as his eyes searched for Silver Sonic.

Just a second after Sheffer came to a stop, there was an ominous whoosh from directly above, and then about a tenth of a second later, a wrecking ball of steely spines dropping right on his position like a bomb. Silver Sonic was done playing games; rather than chase the speedier hedgehog around or try to counter him in any kind of direct way, he had launched himself skyward along with the creation of the makeshift smokescreen, with every intent to just land on the kid, then go on with business.

Meanwhile, Eggman smiled at his handiwork, and relaxed in his ride. A quick look around revealed nothing but that green hedgehog, and the others were completely out of his sight.

"Hm... They're gone," he half-sighed as if disappointed. Perhaps he had wanted an audience for a little longer, or just someone else to pick on. But, just then, the communicator in his Egg Mobile rang with a series of shrill, high-pitched beeps. A press of a button later, and a volumetric display appeared in front of the doctor, with a video-phone image of President Towers.

"Oh-hohhh! So nice to hear from you—And so promptly, too."

There wasn't anytime to even comprehend was going on, the area that had been still around him now a twirling mess of brown, black, and gray, feeling wind rush past his body as he was airborne. His body still having not reacted, he remained limp, a helpless rag doll as he flew. Suddenly, he felt solid earth once more, crashing into his side and skidding for a few feet, but strangely enough, did not feel any pain, just dazed.

Shaking his head in dizziness, he slowly looked up, seeing a certain golden ring bouncing across the ground. His vision blurry, he lifted a hand, but the circle of gold was too far as it was, and after a few more skips, suddenly vanished into thin air. Groaning, not out of agony, but disappointment, he stumbled to his feet, the disorienting feelings finally disappearing.

Looking over, he saw Silver Sonic standing in the place where he had just been, staring over to him. If robot's could have facial expressions, the metal hedgehog probably would have one of utter shock at Sheffer's well being, but he would never know what things truly did click through the creation's head.

His thoughts immediately snapped back to the situation at hand though. He had lost his only protection from a foolish move, the ring now gone, and from what he could see, his board was lying on the ground right behind the robot. Fortunately enough, the metal pipe had landed only a few feet from his current position, the green hedgehog swiping it up quickly, holding it tightly as he faced Silver Sonic once more.

He truly didn't know what to do now, eying his board behind the menace...

Did the hedgehog think he would have time to lay there, and that the elaborately ambushing robot would then cut off his attack after scoring a blow? On the contrary, before Sheffer even hit the ground, the burly machine crouched, emitted a whining sound as its heel wheels spun and threw up gravel, and its rockets roared. Silver Sonic whizzed briskly across the ground, skidded to a stop right over the hedgehog, and rammed his hand down to try to grab the spiny one by one of his legs before he even had the chance to make that slow, slow, dazed rise to his feet.

All things going as planned, the metal hedgehog would be holding its fleshier challenger single-handedly inverted in the air in front of it, like an overpowered bully dumping the change out of a victim's pockets.

Panic instantly shot through the hedgehog's system as he was lifted from the ground, dangling upside down as he looked to the robot in fear. Their faces were almost even, Silver Sonic's steel grip digging into the flesh of his ankle, a hiss of pain escaping his gritted teeth. He matched the robot's artificial stare with his own, a new, growing fear appearing in his blue eyes.

Thoughts ran through his head. How stupid of him it was to even imagine fighting this monstrosity, to go against it head to head. He should have known he didn't stand a chance, the ring having been useless in the first place. He should have thought it over, should have been more logical, an anger of himself igniting within him.

Which instantaneously was directed onto Silver Sonic.

Giving out a growl, he began to flail, his free foot kicking into the metal hedgehog's head, the hand grasping the metal pipe swinging wildly. He felt metal hit metal, but did not know the damage, his foot now digging into the thing's head, trying to pull away. He knew it would be to no avail, but he had to at least try, continuing his assault with the pipe while he was at it.

Rock pulled what little of the chain remained off the spool, and clutched it as he stood at the cliff's edge. As he stared down at the distant lava, and then over to the distant tower, he was able to determine whether or not what he was about to do would put him at his destination, or plunge him into lava. Apparently, conditions were favorable, because rather than doing what he'd originally thought of (Tying the chain off and letting everyone ascend it), he looked back to the others—Jam, specifically—and said, "Sorry."

"I'll be right back."

And with that, he leapt off the edge, leaving the others behind as he quite literally tarzan swung out across the gaping chasm.

It was a gigantic swing. It felt like he kept going down, down, and farther down, until the lava, even though distant, was unbearably close; the heat was ridiculous, and would have killed a human. The cannons on the side of the structure immediately swiveled to point at him, and opened fire, but the movement was too fast. With feet swung forward, he collided against the side of the tower at high speed, and, with the way he bounced off, and slid down by about ten links, hanging on by a single hand, it probably looked very painful from afar. And it was.

He got a grip, though, like he always did, and began free climbing the dangling chain. He was fast, so it wouldn't look like it to onlookers, but it actually hurt. He had spent all of the previous night punching, fighting, struggling; he did the same thing the next morning, and then pushed an airplane for who-knows-how-many-blocks; and before it was all said and done, he had climbed up the face of a sheer cliff well over a hundred meters high.

And now, this. He was tired, the heat stung his throat and lungs, sweat was pouring down his face, and his arms quaked, but somehow, he made it up to one of the gun platforms jutting off the tower, and promptly dismounted his chain onto it, and landed in a panting, pained-looking crouch.

The gun turret rotated and pointed at him.

He uppercutted it.

If anyone was still watching by that point, they'd see the extent of Rock's force of will endurance as he raised pulsating, energized fists and proceeded to punch a five-foot-wide plasma turret, dinging it, then denting it, then crumpling it, and after about eight direct, alternating left-right blows, leaving it a crooked, sideways-hanging mess of sparks and scrap metal.

... which he then stomped off the platform, and into the lava.

Then he rested a moment.

As much as Jam sorely wished she could say Rock's choice of action surprised and bothered her, she could really only claim half of those sentiments, as she (regrettably) knew it to be perfectly within his character to go running off alone to swing over a pit of molten lava to scale spindly structures of outrageous height to punch turrets in the face (or whatever equivalent they have).

Yup, she didn't bat an eye at any of it, though they did narrow considerably as her head swung slowly back and forth in disapproval, her humidity-drooping clumps clumps of red fanning out feebly in the process, while her arms folded snugly over her chest, as she mumbled something to contrast Toby and Kyle's excess jubilation.

"F***in' kill his ass if he lives though this. Masochistic douchebag."

... She swears because she cares, really.
