If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

Rock may have been short tempered as hell and plenty bothered by various contraptions trying to beat the crap out of him in the middle of what was otherwise a peaceful night on the town a day or so ago, but unlike the hedgehog guy, he actually seemed pretty unmoved and unperturbed by the speech.

"This guy exaggerates a lot," he explained quietly to Toby as he walked back toward that destroyed warehouse door, and nosed around some. "Don't let it psych you out. He—"

... And then Sheff started making the equally theatrical hero-response-monologue, and Rock just stopped talking, and groaned a sigh. They didn't need direct attention.

But then it occurred to Rock that it may have been a good distraction. With renewed fervor, he began searching for that rope, or cable, or whatever of that nature that would work. However, instead, all he found was... a two foot wide industrial spindle of moderately thick, high-tensile chain, right inside the bay door. From the looks of it, it was used for securing machines to transport flatbeds.

Sub-optimal. He couldn't tie chain, and it'd be heavy for the chao. It was long enough, though. With a grunt, he heaved the hefty roll up onto his shoulder, exited the way he came, silently motioned for the others to follow as he took off running around the deadly lava-pitfall's perimeter.

Jam returned the serval's greeting with little more than a congenial nod as she strolled up to the growing assembly of characters at a decidedly casual pace, considering the situation. With all the distress of complete and utter redundancy, she inclined her head towards the not-so spectral Eggman, looking more empathetically embarrassed for him than concerned about whatever fit he was throwing.

"Wow," she'd begun to mutter with a sigh, only to suddenly find that Rock's attention (more specifically, the focus she was most concerned with) was no longer on the big, fussy baby, brandishing his shiny new toys, but very obviously working out something dangerous, fun, reckless and stupid that she wouldn't want to be a part of if she was of sound reason. Being Jam, she followed quickly, with an impish grin, offering little in the way of personal space.

Eggman looked around as if confused about where the voice was coming from at first. He could hear someone yelling at him, but spotting the individual wayyy down there was difficult, especially with the poor lighting.

"Wwwhat?" blurted the Eggman aloud, as if genuinely confused. Squinting hard behind his dark shades, he seemed to have finally found Sheffer out. "What is it with you hedgehogs and Sonic? Is he all you pointy-haired, obstreperous little rats have to be proud of?" His mustache bristled, and he sat back in his seat, tall and full of his own puffery. "Maybe, just maybe, I should point out that he isn't here, if you somehow didn't notice. But, I'd welcome anyone else to try something incredibly heroic. —And stupid."

He quietly pushed the Sol Emerald safely into the Egg Mobile's console, and smirked surreptitiously.

Far be it from Ace to ignore the pseudo-orders of his team's designated leader (or closest thing they had, in any case.) From the corner of his trained eye, Rock had crawled out with some foreign kind of object, and silently called for him to follow. Better than listening to Eggman drag on about his stolen superiority.

The cat sneered at the doctor's unknowingly appropriate use of words. "I'll get back to you on that," he rasped in a half-mumble, turned around and began running after Rock and Jam. "Figure we'll bow to him around the same time he shaves that ridiculous mustache," he remarked as he ran, catching up to the primates on the island. "I'm guessing that chain is part of a plan?"

The white primates words did a good job of alleviating the kangaroo rat's temporary tremors. "Oh... Heheh, good to know." Toby nodded and chuckled, and was soon back on his board, riding along side his make-shift team. "...Still, I hope green-bean over there knows what the heck he's doing." Pulling right up alongside Ace just as he made his comment about Eggman's mustache, Toby couldn't help but chuckle. The thing looked like his nose-hairs had been soaking in miracle-grow for weeks. How he ate, slept, or heck, even breathed through that thing was beyond the boy.

Finally, Toby got a good look at what Rock was carrying. Cotton almost ate it on some scrap metal while distracted by the spindle of heavy-duty chain, but managed to recover himself, momentarily grabbing onto Jam's shoulder for balance. "Whoops! Sorry about that, dude! My bad!" As he sped on, listening to the cat's comment, Toby started piecing the puzzle together in his head. "Is that what we're gonna attach to Kyle?" He paused for a moment. "How heavy is that junk?"

Sheffer could only have his eyes give an uncaring roll.

"Overly optimistic bastard..." he muttered, his eyes wandering behind him, taking a moment to stare up the incline of the crater. He immediately spotted the small group of people from before, now two more stronger, watching them move around a building a ways away. They seemed to be busy with something, and whatever it was, Sheffer had to presume it was productive. Maybe even to take care of a certain doctor...

If this was true, the group would be quickly screwed over, to put it bluntly, if Eggman managed to spot them. If whatever plan they had concocted could actually work, the last thing them, or Sheffer, needed was for it to be ruined. Maybe he himself could do something to assist them, an idea already forming.

"Hey, egghead!" he yelled across the expanse, hopefully getting the doctor's attention. "Those big words fit ya, you know. Going by the fact of your own size!"

Sheffer quickly threw down his board, hopping on and beginning to slowly ride around the perimeter of the lava pit, seeing if he could lead the doctor away from the others. He continued to speak, trying to be as attention-worthy as possible.

"C'mon, you big glutton, don't you have another cringe-worthy speech available?! I'd love to hear it!"

The armada of zombiebots had remained pretty quiet in the midst of the doctor's outbursts. Even the big bad itself, the "boss monster" of the outfit, had apparently put the brakes on, wherever it had gone. As such, the group was left to its own devices, for the time being.

Naturally, that didn't last long. When Eggman's silvery Sonic counterpart reappeared it had stomped its way to the top of a bundle of gray metal shipping containers. Burn marks scorched its tough dark spines, remnants of the blast it had endured, and there was no way the thing hadn't gotten out of that without some of its insides scrambled around, but overall, the big old thing was still kicking. Even a megablast like that hadn't stopped the machine, and if that were the case, what could?

There was the question of why exactly it had reappeared, and the answer should have been obvious given who it seemed to have taken an interest in. Evidently it had heard enough of Sheff's boasting. When it reappeared it was clutching--clutching--a gigantic and unsettlingly heavy-looking shipping container not unlike the ones it was standing on, holding the entire thing over its head before hurling the makeshift projectile down at the noisy green hedgehog, looking like a mechanized version of a necktie-wearing ape throwing the world's biggest barrel.

Before any sort of answer could be given to him from the rotund doctor, Sheffer heard a crash from above, whipping around to find a figure high above. From what he could see, it just so happened to be the now-charred robotic hedgehog, a giant container held above its head. It appeared to be looking straight at the green hedgehog as well, Sheffer feeling paralyzed as he watched the machine toss the object his way.

Snapping out of the frozen state of mind, he quickly urged his board to accelerate, the vehicle obeying. And just in time too, the metal mass slamming into the ground only a few feet behind him, nearly setting him off balance. He could feel earth and metal fling past him, obviously caused by the impact, still gaining distance on the area of current destruction.

Regaining himself, Sheffer threw a glare up to the robot, hands clenched. He was quite sick of this contraption, whatever was, and the trouble it was causing him. It had been his main source of pain ever since he arrived, and it was downright annoying. The hedgehog now wanted to do something, even it would be to no avail.

With a grunt, he twisted his body, and the board, around, aiming up the crater's incline, straight to the robot. With the golden ring still tightly clenched in his hand, he shot up the pit, his goal clear. Yes, the robot did outmatch him, but thanks to that recent assault with the monkey's grenade, who knew what condition it was in now? He hadn't even been able to get a proper look at the thing since then, and anyway, he had protection, even if it was only a one-time thing. If he could do anything, he'd go for it, keeping in mind his very small, limited advantage.

With the large crashing noise echoing behind them, Toby couldn't help but swing around to get a look at the carnage. What he saw was unsettling. There was the source of their agony, back in action. And down below, the half-cocked hedgehog was mounting an assault.

"Oh sh**, there he goes! He's gonna kill himself! Geez!"

The chain, part of a plan? A formal "plan"?

"Uhhh, yeah. ... Sure," Rock replied to Ace between breaths as he sprinted, being vague, yet probably succeeding very well at clearly conveying that "plan" might not have been the right word for the improvisation taking place.

The run to wherever-it-was-they-were-going was of the typical Eggman-base-BS affair. Hazards, posts, spikes, clunky machinery, and just about everything else. But, it was short, and soon, he trotted to a stop by the chasm's edge near a cluster of pipes, sat the big spool on the ground, and began reeling out some chain.

"Jam, c'mere."

He thrust the end of the chain to her. He had it almost "tied" (more tangled) into a sort of loop, or noose, or lasso shape, but it was clear that it wouldn't hold.

"I want you to try to pass as much amperage as you can through this section," he explained very briefly, pointing to the makeshift knot. "Everything you got."

Sheffer had insulted Eggman's weight.

He insulted the weight of a man who preferred to be called Eggman.

While the rotund doctor bore his best haters gonna hate face, he found himself at a loss for a scathing enough reply. But, Silver Sonic took the task upon himself, and interjected for his creator in a more than satisfactory fashion. While he was smiling at that small victory, however, there came a few quick beeps from one of the hovering camera drones. A twitch, a couple blinks, and a speed-lines-caliber double-take--Eggman looked at the machine in dread and horror, and spat, "We're still live?!"

Oops.

"Ahahrhrrm hrrm, ohoho... ho." ... He cleared his throat and laughed awkwardly. "Anyway. I believe I've made my point. The plot of today's episode is bulletproof, Mr. President, so you have, ohhh, three minutes to pick up the phone and dial the number on your screen, and 'negotiate' your country's peaceful surrender. Believe me, theeese guys aren't going to save you."

One camera drone was hovering around, following the SSD transport, and the other was buzzing around and watching Sheffer's battle. By the time both live feeds reached their audience, it can be assured that they had party hats, clown noses, giant buck teeth, and other flattering things digitally superimposed. Yes, even the SSD dropship itself. Insert raucous, grating Eggman laughter.

Once the big would-be barrel had left its grip, the robot evidently saw little need to do anything but watch the result. It exhibited no perceivable reaction upon the passing of said result, content to stand in place and watch as the hedgehog righted himself and began racing to where it had perched.

There was something to be said about something coming straight at you, though. And that was that, ultimately, Sheffer made for a relatively easy target. Silver Sonic II's gunhand rose nonchalantly and the cannons-for-fingers began spitting those little suns on full auto again, straight at the incoming hedgehog. One long, endless noise emitted from the hand as the plasma toroids burned their way through the atmosphere.

"What's the hold-up?" asked Cross in that polite, friendly way of his.

"Looking for a safe spot to unload, Captain," said Crash the Kangaroo, the Special Services Division's pilot of all things pilotable, through a cigar he had been chewing on for about the last three or four years. "Lots of defenses on that bugger; don't want to get swatted out of the air. Having a hard enough time finding a safe route without gettin' painted as it stands."

"It's Major," sighed Cross. "Well, take your time, it's not like we have a time limit or anything." He and the others had heard the good doctor's most recent statement...

"Certainly, sir. 'Course, y'may want to have your barf bags on stand-by anyway. Depends on when they decide to open up."

"That's very encouraging."

"I live to please, chappie."

Elegant Joe leaned out the window and waved again, except this time he was waving at that camera pod hovering around the shuttle like an obnoxious gnat. No, he had no idea that to the viewing audience at home he looked like he was riding in the world's fanciest clown car.

Sheffer had at least enough logic to know he couldn't just walk on up to the robot merrily without any trouble, and had been on alert since the beginning of his still-to-be-determined assault. When the plasma began to rain down, he swerved quickly, hearing the weapon fire landing only feet behind him. Feeling the beginnings of panic seeping into his mind, he hastily dove behind a nearby building, its concrete structure protecting him from the attack.

Jumping off his board for a moment to catch his breath, he happened to look down, what appeared to be a pile of unused equipment before him. An idea coming to mind, Sheffer shuffled through the pile (mostly containing metal objects) with haste, eventually pulling out a metal pipe.

"Hm... better then nothing..." he muttered, hopping onto his board once more.

Without anymore hesitation, he blasted out of the hiding spot out into the open, already looking ahead and tracing a path that would send him into a wide loop... hopefully a trail that would lead him straight to the automation. Without getting seriously injured in the process, that is.

OOC: Too tired to proofread, and I just finished watching like three hours of superhero movies. Expect a void of sense.

Willing though she was, initially, Jam couldn't help but allow her zealous grin to falter, evidently having expected to be tasked with something a little cooler than "ghetto weld this for me."

Despite whatever internal disdain she had for the job, however, she wasn't absolutely certain how capable she'd be as a means to Rock's end, seeing as how she'd only ever tried anything even remotely similar with empty soda cans as a home remedy for her chronic too-much-free-time-and-not-enough-to-do-itis. She eyed the knotty chain dubiously for a moment, before casting that same look of uncertainty to the paler primate, which quickly ebbed in favor of her nearly infamous overconfidence.

What then began as an entirely unimpressive series of lapping, licking sparks became evident as the destructive (or more accurately, for once; constructive) force it was around the time the sections of heavy chain Jam gripped started to turn bright orange as the metal tangle's distinction literally melted away, and the characteristic aroma of burning leather wafted through the air. Their makeshift lasso dropped to the ground with a clatter soon after.

"As a general disclaimer thing," muttered the strawberry-hued simian impassively as she glared irritably at the blackened, still-smoking cigar-burn-like holes in the palms of her gloves. "I assume, y'know... no liability if this thing breaks and drops all our asses in lava'r some s**t."

"It won't," Rock replied to Jam. "I don't intend for anybody else to have to climb it."

He collected the chain from the ground, and held the cooler part of the loop toward Toby's chao. Having noted that the little thing seemed proficient enough in people talk, the primate hoped he'd be able to understand. "Alright, little guy, this is all you. Go low," he gestured flatly toward the tower, "then fly up its side, and put this," he motioned to the chain, opening the loop, "around one of those pointy things." He then pointed a black-gloved finger at one of the many antennae arrays that jutted off the side of the tower, pointing skyward. Fortunately, the lava was a pretty great distance below the edge of the killer drop, meaning Kyle could approach from a low angle to avoid getting a lot of attention or fire, and then he could go fly straight up the tower's side, and probably get there without even needing to strain his little shield too much.

As soon as the chao took his end of the chain, Rock grabbed the spool, and prepared to unreel slack for the little ball of electricity. He meanwhile silently wished the whole process could have been averted, and contemplated how nice it would be to have a jetpack, if it wouldn't burn his tail off. Or maybe even one of those grappling hook guns stealthy superheroes are always using in the movies.
