Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Toby stifled a chuckle as Jam stumbled over how she would classify the crow and his cavalry. However, that changed very quickly with the addition of a few different things. Thing Number 1: That "...and possibly of us," Jame just spat out was seeming to come true very quickly, as Toby noticed Rock losing his cool, and the whole situation going downhill. Thing Number 2:
"...Aw, s**t.
The kangaroo rats ears perked up, and his gaze flew back from Rock to Jam, and from Jam to... "Oh, son of a b**ch..." ...an incoming army of undead bots. Thing Number 3: The rising doom-tower that spelled out E-V-I-L--P-L-A-N in bright, bold, neon letters clear enough for Toby to get the picture. Now was not the time to be fighting. Cotton's head shot backwards towards the bickering two-some.
"Yo, Rock! Hate to break up the reunion, but we've got company down here!!!" The boys finger shot out like a hunting dog's at the incoming swarm of zom-bots.

Even an outburst like that could not induce a reaction, for the Major neither smiled nor frowned at it, looking as immovable and impregnable as a fortress all his own. He had dealt with far too many swaggering thugs in his career to be frustrated into careless anger by a civilian who looked and behaved like he'd had trouble graduating from junior high. Ultimately, the only real repercussion Rock got from losing his temper was that he was again ignored. Besides, for one thing the crow's question was more or less answered somewhere in the diatribe, and they had more important matters to deal with. "Sparky, call the shuttle back down here. 'Bride." He jerked his head to the incoming bad guys at nine o'clock, the same ones the yellow guy had just pointed out. The alligator and his BFG, a big ol' honkin' minigun of some brand, were more than happy to oblige the implied order. McBride got this look on his face, and for some reason it seemed to unsettle a few of the others because they stepped away from him as he took up position, hoisted the giant, multi-barreled weapon at the baddies, aaand DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD-- "WOOHOOOOOOO SUCK BULLETS MUTHUFUGGAS YEEEAHAHAAA." It was an interesting spectacle to behold, because the other troops were just sort of held in awe, either by the sight of the incendiary rounds raining fire down on the emerging zombiebots, by McBride's colorful and increasingly tasteless language, or by how the sheer noise may have scrambled their brains worse than anything Eggman could conjure up. Was it any wonder the alligator was reputedly half-deaf?

"F***'em," Rock spat eloquently as he started into a run in the opposite direction of the incoming machines, and motioned for the others to follow. He was soon scanning the rows of structures, but for what, he wasn't entirely certain. Huffing from the movement and the hot, ash-thick air, he added between breaths, "Let the magpie deal with it—We can find some wire, or cable, or somethin', and if that fails, we'll just lay low until we can grab it off their corpses."
He wasn't kidding, either.

Incendiary rounds, as dispensed in the volume any conventional weapon would provide, would have probably been insufficient against the seemingly unstoppable machines. Conventional was not the name of the SSD's game. There were probably over a hundred rifle-caliber rounds per second burping, buzzing and farting out of McBride's weapon (with all the aforementioned pleasant, hog-like sounds a minigun comes with), and the sheer volume of fire completely slagged the front lines, and the lines behind them, and the lines behind them, for quite some time to come.
—Except not too long. So many rounds per second certainly meant a supply of ammo on the order of seconds long, and it seemed that, for the moment, there was yet no end visible in sight. The tail end of the parade was still well around the bend, and, refusing to be sheep to the slaughter, many of the machines, especially the more agile ones, were darting up ladders, making rocket-assisted leaps, or otherwise maneuvering their way up to higher ground, and zipping along through the cover it provided. In what seemed like no time flat, the catwalk was rocking and buckling under the force of multiple small squads of rusted, bedraggled-looking Egg Robos that landed all around with such force they nearly broke their own legs (not that it'd matter, since they'd pull right back together, anyway). From the looks of the streaking blue-white lights that followed, their beam pistols still worked fairly well. (At least one seemed to be shooting nothing but sparks, though.)
The humming of the tower meanwhile grew louder. It had long stopped at a mammoth height that looked to be about forty stories, but it wasn't done moving. Lights ignited all over it, while panels began to slide and flip open, platforms all along its sides stretched out, and machinery clicked, whirred, and unfurled. Defensive measures, or functional measures? Hard to be certain yet, because they weren't active—There were a lot of systems in place that needed to rearrange and move around, probably owing to the fact that the whole structure was submersible in magma.

The descent continued for a nearly unbelievable amount of time, the near pitch black not helping at all with the trek. Sheffer continuously had to swerve and turn back on his board, buildings and machinery constantly blocking his path at times, not wanting to risk the chance of possibly leaping over anything to only crash painfully in the dark.
Finally, the reddish glow he had seen before began to grow more intense, lighting his surroundings, objects becoming more visible. Soon, he found a straight path to the center of the pit, loose dirt being whirled behind him as he sped past, now comfortable with his form of travel in the new area.
What he found came as no surprise; a giant pool of glowing lava, its heat rising greatly from it. The existence of the island had more sense behind it now, seeing the volcanic activity before him. Yet what lay within the pool's center was what caught his attention. A giant metal tower, lights and contraptions moving all around it. What was this thing, and more importantly, why was it here?
A sudden racket interrupted his thoughts though, throwing his hands over his ears in pure instinct. Regaining his composure, he glanced over to the source of the noise, yet did not see it. Strangely enough, it sounded like the chattering of gunfire, echoing across the crater, almost unbearable to the ears. Sheffer wondered if he should take caution now, with an obvious threat now being heard, but remained calm, deciding to take a peek at the new, unseen situation.
Before he had the chance to move though, a small group of people appeared, dashing in his direction. He could make out three normally sized figures and one other smaller one, the latter almost seeming to float after them. Now confused, Sheffer remained where he was, stepping off his board and holding it in one hand, seeing that if he remained unmoving, the trio plus floating blob would arrive close to him.
And maybe they'd have some answers.

As Rock wound down his brisk sprint and slid to a stop in front of the loading bay of one of the factory-like structures, he found himself just a short stone's throw away from some lanky, spiny guy clutching an XG board. The simian's mind shot straight to the orange pincushion he had to deal with earlier, but he shook it off. He was already in a foul enough mood from dealing with Cross. (Funny how that name worked out.)
"Toby—That one'a your friends?" he asked with half-hearted concern, presuming because of the mutual boards. He meanwhile took to the task of pushing the door open. He had selected a structure that looked easy to enter; the power had apparently gone out while the big, sliding, garage-like doors were in the process of opening or closing, so it didn't take him more than a couple seconds and a good, brute-force heave to roll the bay the rest of the way open, metal panels clack-clack-clacking on their way up.

Toby shrugged at Rock's reply, glancing back at Jam. "You heard the man!! Let's book it!" With that, the kangaroo rat took of after the monkey, holding the board under his arm for the moment. Although he couldn't say he liked the idea of plucking the necessities off the corpse of the crow and his crew, they seemed to be doing all right for themselves, and frankly didn't seem to have any interest in helping the motley crew plus chao.
Before long, Toby spotted what looked like another person in the distance. When Rock asked him whether he knew the guy or not, he was a bit taken aback... until he saw the board in his hand. "No man, I've never seen the dude before in my life. No clue who he is." Cotton continued to gallop after Rock, Kyle clinging to his shoulder all the way.

The SSD's drop shuttle reappeared and navigated its way up to to the catwalk where the soldiers had taken position. The mean-looking main gun/cannon situated on its roof swiveled and began lending McBride a hand as he piled it away at the waves of robots by targeting the increasingly frequent stray. With that and a capable missile system at its disposal, the carrier was an added and well-appreciated boost of firepower. Mainly during its development the task force had wanted to lower the chances of it becoming a multi-million dollar coffin.
Its door flipped back open and the troops hopped back in as the catwalk began buckling with the added weight of several unwelcome baddies. Well, most of the troops hopped back in. "'Bride," Cross called.
DDDDDDDD-- "YOU LIKE THIS YEAH I DIDN'T THINK SO OOPS SORRY YOU DIDN'T NEED THAT FACE ANYWAY."
"McBride!" It may have taken a lot for a civilian to provoke the Major, but when it was one of his own troops, the fuse was not of great length. "McBRIDE!!"
DDDDDDDD-- "WHERE YOU GOIN' HUH WHERE YOU GOIN' YOU AIN'T GOIN' NOWHERE WITHOUT SUMMA THIS OH MY GOD DID YOU GUYS SEE THAT."
... The shuttle honked loudly.
DDDD--click "AAAHAHA huh oh crap." And the gator whirled around and lumbered into the shuttle after them.
The main gun continued booming until the door finally flipped shut again and the carrier whipped around to speed away. The monolith more or less appeared to be the chaos zone's epicenter--For the moment finding a way to access the interior was the goal, but judging by the noise the thing was making as well as the appearance changes it was undergoing, most of the men were thankful for their vessel's defensive capabilities.
As they hovered past the monkeys and their buddies, Elegant Joe leaned out the window and waved amiably at Jam.

Not one to argue with Rock, especially when her list of better ideas was in the red, content-wise, Jam was already hot on his decidedly less utilized tail well before the yellow kangaroo rat needed to tell her to. And while she spared a glance for the prickly green newcomer, she didn't seem to think it nearly as consequential, or even as noteworthy as anyone else did, and merely shrugged indifferently, ducking as she approached the door the cloud-colored simian was in the process of breaching.
She paused half-way through, however, upon hearing the shuttle passing, and cast a glance over her shoulder, succinctly returning Joe's parting gesture with a simple flash of an open palm. What could she say? She had a soft spot for CTs.

Sheffer remained where he was as the group passed, noticing the uninterested looks thrown his way as they hurried on over to the structure nearby.
"Oh, don't worry about me guys... just checking out the scenery..." he muttered, an unamused expression shadowing over his face. He'd just literally climbed a mountain, both ways in fact, and the trio couldn't even bother giving him a second glance. Yes, they seemed to be in a hurry, but they could still be a little more courteous to actually give some sort of greeting...
Having nothing better to do, Sheffer began to follow them to the building, stowing his board under his arm. On the way, he happened to notice some sort of ship circling above, cocking an eyebrow at the vehicle. First gunfire, then the random group, and now what appeared to be a military shuttle. He didn't know if he should be worried or just confused.
Making it to the structure, he stepped inside, taking a glance at all three people. Two he could instantly tell were primates, one male, one female, white and pink respectively. The third appeared to be some sort of rodent, his species not quite obvious just yet. In the meantime, Sheffer finally learned what the mysterious being that had followed the trio there was; a yellow Chao, having a strange resemblance to the rodent. Not exactly a mismatched group, in the hedgehog's opinion... not from what he knew, that is. Why they were here was his main question at the moment though...
"Uh, hey there," he said, hoping to grasp their attention, standing casually within the bay doors.

Somewhere in the shadows, a grumble turned into a long growl; finally, there was a ragged, frustrated, but quiet roar of sorts.
"This is taking for-ev-errr," hissed Eggman from within his Egg Mobile, hovering between a pair of smokestacks on a nearby building. He was still wearing his costume makeup, with all his cobwebs, and his general ragged appearance, but it was as unconvincing as it was in Giant Floating Head form, it was just that much more fake-looking in person.
"I didn't want to reveal myself just yet," he continued, talking to himself (as was unhealthily par the course when he didn't have a Henchman of the Month), "but... Hnnnggggghhhhno. I won't wait. Agh!"
And with that, the rotund grey and black pod rushed forth from its hiding place with a spew of blue thruster wash. Speeding quickly, it made its way out over the battlefield, and stopped abruptly at about the midpoint of the tower, where a platform jutted out, and a door quickly opened. He didn't rush in, though, but instead paused there for a moment to yell things with his loudspeaker. Nevermind the gunfire and constant explosions; his grating voice had a certain ability to cut through it all. However, while he was out there, some of the chaos seemed to relent, and his forces laid back a little, as if to give him more stage presence. All the various, strange-looking weapons on the tower seemed to stand at the ready, panning and whirring, as if anticipating the need to defend their creator.
"You're aaall wasting your tiiime~!" he taunted in nyeah-nyeah-quality sing-song. "I already have all the emeralds—Again—But this time, we play hardball! And no, Sooonic isn't going to save you all today! Even if he did show up, it's already over. This time, you'll be happy to give control over to me, because you won't want me to take it the hard way, heh heh hehhh."
"So!" he shouted as he suddenly stood up in his seat, and thrust a giddy, jittering finger toward the transport ship. "You military mmmmorons!" (He seemed to have a hard time finding any particularly cutting alliteration for that one, but did not lose step despite the frailty of the insult he ultimately came up with.) "Stand at attention! I have a message for you to deliver."

"Hhhhhey," Rock replied to Sheffer in a breathy, distracted mumble as he squinted into the darkness. "D'this place just draw people with hoverboards, or ... ... what..."
That last "what" might as well have been a separate thought. In fact, whatever it was made him stop dead in his tracks. He was the first in the door, and his eyes doubtlessly adjusted to the low light sooner than the others, so it went without much explanation or apparent reason when he suddenly lunged backward, arms spread wide, and pushed anyone who was following him back, including the new hedgehog arrival, if he was still close.
"Back up back up back oh $%@& back up."
In that same motion, he jumped up, seized the bottom of the door he'd just opened, and practically dropped flat on the ground as he moved to slam it the heck shut.

Despite the door dropping shut, there was a sound coming from inside not entirely unlike that of a runaway express train blaring the horn at whatever was in its path. And this sound got louder and louder and louder until it finally couldn't possibly be any louder without its source having to do something about that door.
And if you don't think it did, your crystal ball's batteries need changing, because Silver Sonic smashed right through it Juggernaut-style without so much as slowing down. An explosion of door fragments rained everywhere around the group as the biggest, meanest linebacker any of them would ever see came careening right into their faces. Cue absolute chaos unraveling before them as its fist started swinging at every monkey, kangaroo rat, chao, and hedgehog in sight, while the left hand spat plasma toroids all over the place. Dust and debris still hung in the air, byproducts of its choice of entrance.

The initial explosion of metal dazed the hedgehog and he repulsively ducked close to the ground, feeling the shrapnel of the bay doors zinging by him. Fortunately, he was only battered by a few small, blunt pieces, anything deadly luckily avoiding him. His shock was quickly replaced by the ever present confusion, wondering what in holy hell had managed cause such destruction.
Standing up, he was only greeted by a thin haze of dust, nothing else visible. Against common sense, he accidentelly took in a deep breath, sending him into a fit of coughs, the dust chokingly dry. Continuing to cough, the hedgehog did not happen to notice the sound of an approaching object, and when he did, it was too late.
Sheffer's eyes snapped up just as a metallic fist collided with his gut, feeling any air he had in his lungs rush painfully out as he was thrown back onto the ground. Gasping for air, but only receiving more dust, he coughed feverishly, great pain pulsing around his stomach. Groaning in agony, he did not feel another assault come. Not caring why that was the fact, he slowly tried to regain his composure...

Jam didn't really have time to process the sudden downpour of activity that followed Rock's stepping through the door; she failed to notice that the green guy had followed them, and was in fact, much like driving with the overhead light on at night, was still trying to fight with the back-lighting of her crackling electric orb as she attempted to make sense out of the inky darkness they'd stumbled upon. Therefore, to say the suddenly harried imperatives of the brighter primate jarred her was a serious understatement, since, by her experience, when a situation was unfavorable enough to warrant an "oh s**t" from the normally unmovable Rock, they were likely to be knee-deep in a newly fertilized field.
The flustered monkey just about tripped in her haste to stumble backwards out the way they'd come, and she lunged off to the side just in time for the door to explode behind her. Jam didn't even skim the ground before she was back on her feet and speeding off into whatever direction the Egg-Shinkansen (or whatever it was they were fighting) wasn't.
"WHAT THE F**K IS THIS THING?!" she yelled to no one in particular after she scrambled up a boxy structure with a series of sloppily executed double jumps, and began hurling her own fistfuls of super-heated plasma at their shiny new visitor.
