It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

Jam skipped lightly in as though she was welcome there, hands behind her back, and a distantly observant air about her, as her head swiveled about on her shoulders, apparently taking in the layout of the station, before something Rock mentioned drew an amused-but-unamused snort.
"Might be better if he goes in alone," she corrected, at last looking back to the pair with a hand on her hip. "Correct me if m'wrong, but she totally strikes me as the type t'get all clingy with her authority if she feels like she was tattled on. Which, she basically was. But, who knows -- Maybe she'll be in a better mood today."

Meanwhile.. despite all the panic and commotion Juneau quietly continued to fumble through various screens on his hand held until a few moments after the CT turned it's attention.. and weapon, else where. Following such He'd simply begin to quietly stuff his hand held into one of his vest pockets and collect the stone fragment in a similar manner then proceeded to fold up the cloth map to do the same.
Myr had remained as quiet as his green companion the entire time.. though it wasn't like he was one to speak much to begin with. He'd move to hover over the top of the map as the items were collected as if supervisor their collection and watched as the map would later be carefully folded and packed up.
After collecting the map he'd stuff it in his vest as well as he climbed to his feet as a hint of annoyance was laced in his next words " ..So.. Maybe next time we just camp out again, Yea? " He'd shift a glance towards Myr before giving his dark hued companion a nod as he hovered towards him with his pack and leaned to the right a bit to allow Myr to sling the strap across his shoulder.
It was about this time the 'Hostess' had moved towards the door and informed every one the free ride was over, to which he'd shake his head. " Ah well.. We can find breakfast later.. " By now the annoyed tone in his voice had faded to more of a defeated one and given he didn't know any of them, and the fact the majority of activity occurred out of sight he figured it was probably best to leave what ever the hell was going on to those involved with it.

A lot transpired in the short time in that police station dorms. Though somewhat curious about what was going on with Sheff, he waited outside. First, a cat with a bloody muzzle came out, and walked by. He put his hands in his coat pockets.
He watched Ace walk by with some donuts, then back at the bathroom. It wasn't too long afterwards that everyone started shuffling out of the bathroom. And someone looked different. That tumor engulfed Sheff's body! It looked... like armor. The raccoon looked on in awe. And...fright.
He quickly started moving after them, catching up beside them. "Hey, guys...recap for the audience?" He said, walking through the door, then stepped aside, turning to face Jack.

Rekk nodded. "I think Jam's on to something. You guys hang back. If I need help, I'll give you a shout. Otherwise," he adjusted his suit and pushed his sunglasses up. "Back in a flash."
He strode forward, with confidence to his step befitting a cat of his position, reaching a hand into his pocket.
"Excuse me, sir," a young peacock said, suddenly blocking Rekk's view with an impressively colorful array of feathers. "You can't just go pa-"
"Department of National Security business, ma'am." Rekk shoved a badge into the bird's face and walked right past him, ruffling his feathers.
"....why's everybody keep callin' me a girl..."
Rekk started to slip his badge into his pocket, but paused as something caught his eye. Pushing his sunglasses down, he saw what was unmistakably the sheriff and...a hedgehog covered in rocks holding an emerald in his hand. It didn't take a genius to guess that Rekk had found who he was looking for.
"Hello, there. I hate to intrude, but," he flashed his badge again. "I'm with the Department of National Security. I was investigating Eggman's recent attacks on Central City, and got a whiff of him developing some kind of highly unstable energy source." He pointed at the rock in Sheffer's hand. "I'm going to guess this is it, and - " He pointed at Jack next. "And you're this town's sheriff? Name's Rogers. I understand you've been having a pretty hellish 24 hours. I'm here to help."
All said just too quickly to allow for rebuttal until he was putting out his hand and trying to shake Jack's, but not so fast they'd have any trouble understanding him. Just a little trick he'd picked up.

Jack spun around when she heard some one talking to her, she indeed wasn't far from Rekk as he went into his introduction and reason to be there. From behind him one of her deputy's looked up shrugging as his feathers closed behind him. She smirked with a nod to her man. Then looked at Rekk.
"Ooooh! Lordy, it can't be!" She said much louder then what was needed. "REKK RODGERS!"
Oh and the stir that caused. The press, milling around the station still waiting for a statement on what's happened suddenly surged forward, the peacock had no way to stop them as they rushed towards Rekk, demanding answers, sticking all manor of recording devices and cameras in his face.
"Was Eggman responsible for the attack in the park?!" "Has Eggman a base in the desert?!" "Where will Eggman strike next?!" "What's your favorite color?!" And so one. Each one yelling their question over the last.
Jack crossed her arms laughing softly as she walked away heading towards the back door, motioning the group with her. She didn't like the press, at all. And if anyone was well suited to dealing with them it was Rekk, him taking over means he must have something prepared, right? She would however, wait outside for him. She wasn't dumb, she liked her job. But any lawmen hates when the Feds stick their noses in their business. Even if its the King Fed himself.

Apparently, a giant horde of reporters who hadn't been noticed a couple minutes prior stampeded by Rock at the lobby of the station in a cartoon-like cloud of dust bristling with microphones and cameras. He beheld spectacle for a moment with a vaguely concerned face, then scratched his neck in a deliberate, slow manner.
"That there is some random bull%#*$," he did declare.
Something suddenly occurred to him that went beyond the distraction of the reporters, and his head immediately swiveled to check out the lot and nearby street just outside.
Newsvans. He counted three unattended, plus a lesser news car. (Probably the local station.) They would all contain the necessary equipment for broadcasting the live signal.
He tapped Jam lightly on the arm with the back of his hand, and gestured. "Be doll and cut'em to commercial break, wouldju?"
Couldn't have them successfully broadcasting anything about the emerald, should they stumble upon a shot of it.

It was a good thing Rekk was wearing sunglasses, or the press would've seen his eye twitching like he was about to go on a killing spree. His first action, while they were still distracted, was to put a smile on his face and move backwards. While he said something about how everything was under control, and they would have a press conference in due time, he threw one hand on the crystallized hedgehog's shoulder.
"Don't say anything. Move quickly, don't get seen by the press, and stay somewhere I can find you later." He then gave him a little shove, just to get him on his way, and went right back to paying some lip service to the slowly growing throng of reporters. The absolute last thing he wanted was for that hedgehog and the big rock he was holding to be noticed right now.

The press seemed more focused on Rekk then the hulking monstrosity of walking rock, but since the group was literally trying to sneak out of the station, anyone could probably care less. As Sheffer brushed past Jack, and seeming to have ignored Rekk's words, he attempted to put a comforting hand on her shoulder (the rock ending up making it feel rough), he fell back onto his only means of communication, giving her a thumbs up. If she had looked closely through the crystal, she would have seen a small grin on his lips beneath the rock.
As he pushed himself out the doors into the morning light of the desert, he took a moment to look around at the surroundings before stepping out. Taking a few steps forward, something suddenly changed, the smooth motions Sheffer had been performing within his rocky suit disappearing, being replaced with staggering steps. His body was now shaking lightly, but yet he continued onward for a few more feet before collapsing, laying face down on the ground in a jumbled heap. The emerald fell from his hand, sliding across the ground to rest a couple of feet away.
What happened next was moderately surprising. The crystal encasing his body began to crack, forming fissures and lines all across the shell, crisscrossing across the surface. As it reached a certain point deterioration, the rock began to fall from his body, forming a pile of chunks of crystal around him as his body became exposed. Soon, he was ridden of his suit, struggling to his knees in the pile of crystal.
His body shaking almost feverishly, he managed to speak in panted breaths.
"W-what... the hell... is happening... t-to me....?"

Letting Jam off her leash was just about tantamount to telling a normal girl she looked like she'd lost weight. Beaming like Christmas had come early, she twirled about in a 540° circle, and all but danced out the door, skipping buoyantly to the urban clearing in the midst of the local media corral.
Landing a final jump with excessive gusto and a preemptive shower of sparks, her previously bored Lightning Ring lapped eagerly at the prospect of prey, while she cast a glance back over her shoulder to see if she had any kind of an audience.
Then, for all her build-up, the execution was succinct and clean. A staticcy charge crackled about the salmon simian for less than a second, before a flash that could've put the sun to shame burst outward from her. The inconspicuously no-longer-electric monkey left only a faint burning smell in her immediate vicinity as she skipped innocently away with her hands behind her back.

As the lights went out, and Rekk spotted a bunch of little red lights on film equipment turn off, he let out a sigh of relief. I owe ya, Jam. "Alright, looks like you folks are all having some technical difficulties, so I'll just restate - there'll be a press conference in Central City later today explaining everything! Now if you'll excuse me..." He darted off.
A few seconds later, the back door of the station was being kicked open and Rekk was storming out. If Jack was indeed waiting for him, he wouldn't waste any time laying in to her. "Hey! You idiot!" He snapped, tearing off his glasses. "You almost exposed the emerald to a room full of reporters just to get away from me!? What the hell is wrong with you?! This isn't some Hoedown with the mean ol' Feds from the big city, this is national security! I have to ask - is that hat cutting off your circulation, or did you just fall on your head the first time you...tried to-" He paused in his diatribe for a second, his glance turning to Sheffer.
"...what's happening to him?"

"Aw no..." At the worst possible time, the press decided to stick their collective noses where they didn't belong. Toby was very familiar with reporters, and when he got his time in the spotlight, he even tended to enjoy getting interviewed on and off the course. This, however, was a whole different animal. The boy's eyes grew wide.
"...Press swarm..."
Though it was a rarity they seemed to specifically dive on him, these mystical hordes of reporters were constantly hovering somewhere near the tracks at almost every race Toby had been at in recent memory. They blocked exits, ruined victory laps and made a mockery of you if you didn't stop and throw them a bone. Toby was pretty sure they qualified as a natural disaster.
"Not today you don't..."
Scooping up his board, bag, and chao duo, Toby ducked his head down as he wriggled his way through the pulsating crowd. "S'cuse me! Outta' the way!!" Literally having to resort to shoving reporters aside, the kangaroo rat finally slipped through the living river and out into the open air. He gasped, as if there were so many people inside the building there really hadn't been any room for oxygen. Cotton barely caught the end of the cat's question as he stepped outside.
"...He's had the rock in his pack since yesterday. S'gotta be radioactive or..." It was then that Toby spotted the hedgehog on the ground.
"Whoa!!" Releasing the two chao and dropping his stuff, Toby gawked at the newly emerged butter-hog. A few quick steps and he was bent down in the crystal next to Sheffer. "Here man, let's get you up..." Toby offered his arm to help lift the hedgehog to his feet.

"'Scuse me, pardonm-- gh-- MOVE it, asshat!" Was the sound of one Ace the alley cat attempting to wade through what felt like a pool of peanut butter, but was actually the swarm of press and newscasters that quite literally seemed to come out of nowhere. He wasn't terribly acquainted with the paparazzi in this life, but if they kept crawling out of the woodwork like this, then man, they probably were as bad as people said they were. So in that case, he found no guilt in booting one of them (conveniently bent over for some reason) square in the butt to clear his own path.
As he looked back behind through the cracks in that miserable pile of flesh and busted cameras, the cat was certain he'd seen Rekk attending to things on the other side of the room. And that meant only one thing-- Rock was here, too. It was probably for the best that he avoided contact with the sheriff right then, anyway... Although he did shoot a concerned glance at the hedgehog, before continuing the rest of his push through.
"Ohkay," he blurted as he emerged through the other side at the front door. "I am seriously regretting not coming with you guys."

Rock was sadly still not far from that aforementioned front door. After sending Jam on her merry task, the primate had tried to push his way through the crowds, or find some sort of alternate route to slip through and take advantage of the blackout, but he just couldn't find any way through the little office.
"Thought you might say that," replied Rock with a knowing grin. "Is the stone still safe?"

Ace probably wouldn't have much of a chance to answer before that same "thud" Rock had felt through his feet earlier struck again. The interior of the station rattled audibly. The ground shook again, then started to vibrate, as if someone was operating a jackhammer a block away. The sensation grew stronger.
Rock, looking like he was utterly expecting the worst, emerged from the front door of the station, and scoured the skyline.
There was nothing visible outside, but the pulsating, regular shaking grew stronger and stronger, as if there was some giant, unseen robot stomping their way. That sensation turned out to be wrong, though; instead, there was a giant, unseen robot tearing the Earth a new one beneath them.
Car horns blared, people screamed, pavement and concrete crunched, earth crumbled, and the nearby courthouse, with its quaint brick walls, weather vane on the roof, and little clock face on its steeple-like tower, split in half up the middle as the first drill, about the size of a moving van, punctured the ground. A second followed right beside it. The huge, mega-dumptruck-sized robot pulled itself out of the ground by its two drill-wielding arms, and trundled into the open with the locomotion of numerous insect-like metal legs. A huge, barbed tail flipped up over its back, and pointed down over the scorpion-shaped machine's head. There in the middle of said tail was a capsule-like cockpit that appeared to be formed of... you guessed it, an Egg Mobile.
"I knew I could take my time!" Eggman's amplified voice shouted in that unique, scornful happiness it always seemed to have. "Leave it to the heroic adventurers to swipe a gem of ultimate power, and then sit on it like an egg, defenseless in the middle of the desert!"
The robot clattered and crawled its way toward the side of the sheriff's office, veering toward the rear lot as it homed in on the emerald's signal.
"I'm feeling in an especially good mood, today, though! If you'd like to just hand the emerald over, I could spare this small town. It's ugly and dusty and hot enough as-is!"
