Rock didn't react visibly or audibly; even if she had been able to see him, his face, hidden behind a reflective, gold visor, gave no clues.

"That so," he more stated than asked. Perhaps thoughts of Tracer going after his accusers and detractors were fluttering through his head in that brief silence. It would be poetic, in a way. Furthermore, it was exactly the kind of task he wouldn't want to endanger his own people for, and that he could never trust someone like Ace to faithfully carry out.

"You do know who took it, right?" he queried with tone most dry, as if the truth of the matter was a very irritating one.

Again, not a sound from her end of the line, just static every now and again as she waited for his question. Never a comment or one of her own.

"Of course."

"Alright, then," said Rock, thoughtfully, "you can expect a two billion ring deposit as soon as it's back in my people's hands intact — half if it's busted. I'll forward you a small sum on the front for operational expenses. That sound fair to you?"

Any gunfire and noise she heard before had stopped. Cleaning up what remained must not have taken too much longer. Rock set his heading as he'd directed the others before, and kept cruising.

The mercenary was elated to have something to occupy her time with, and of course, people she'd get to murder. Even as pleased as she was with the prospect of work, her tone remained the same.

"Yes."

Rock smiled inside his helmet. Something bad was going through his mind. It had to have been.

"You'll have a Chimera account set up with a safe deposit box in Spring City." Chances were he was talking about a so-called "World Bank" account, but without the BS. "Just a couple stipulations, though: If Sheriff Clarke's on board, don't kill'er. And if Hawkins is there..."

He paused.

"Leave his face lookin' the same way you left mine on ARK — 20% bonus."

This actually managed to prompt a bit more of a reaction from the mercenary. She let out a single chuckle, either the thought of what she did to Rock or his wanting that done to someone else seemed to bring her some entertainment.

"Heh. Neither should be a problem. Have my pay ready." She said before the line disconnected. Her business with the monkey concluded.

As Rock's communication link ended, he'd be returned to the chatter of his squadron--which had likely been on in his background anyway, though they hadn't said much for the remaining duration of the battle, if anything. Now that it had concluded, though, they were back to their old selves. The general's men seemed to enjoy the rather continuous sounds of their own voices almost as much as the sound of... well, lots and lots of things exploding.

"Did you guys see that? I hit the brakes and he flew right by. Let me say again: I hit the brakes and--"

"Yes and then you almost stalled out. I saw that part."

"No, I... I did that on purpose."

"Hiiiighway toooo theeee--"

"Enough," came the order that silenced them all.

Green's aircraft made small adjustments in its course and within seconds he was some distance off Rock's right wing.

"Yo, buddy. Still alive?" Whether or not he'd been able to hear Rock during the primate's discussion went unsaid, but if needed, that whole course of action could be gone over later.

Rock's gold-domed helmet glinted as it turn to look at Green through the canopy. He'd likely be able to see it from that range.

"Yeah, sorry," replied Rock, his video feed from the cockpit popping back up on Green's HUD. The visor snapped back, showing the white primate's face. He looked alright enough—just very intently thoughtful. "Bad time for a business call, but I couldn't put'er on hold," he added, with a bit more humor in his voice.

Several seconds of silence passed where Green seemed to dwell on that. "I suppose that would have been rude," he said eventually. Whether or not the call had been important enough to take in the middle of a dogfight of all things did not appear to concern him very much, likely since they'd won regardless, and won hard at that. He wasn't going to make a big deal about it. "I hope it proved fruitful, whatever it was about."

"I think we should be mercenary fighter pilots," said Zesty.

"You can fill me in on the details later, if you like. Otherwise--"

"General."

"No, we shouldn't, just stop."

"..." One could almost feel the sadface emoticon flowing throughout the whole cockpit some distance away.

...

It seemed he'd lost his train of thought.

"I need more things to destroy."

Sorry for being so slow. Was waiting for another post but it didn't come to fruition.

"Ugh," grunted Rock. "I think you're gonna have do without for now, bro. Zoom your radar view out."

The multitudinous triangles visible on radar all had vector lines pointing back toward the United Federation. The ploy to lure GUN into a bullet-storm of airship-delivered death had been seen through, and so the incoming forces aborted rather than flew for the trap. While this meant they were in the clear and wouldn't have to deal with any more pursuers, it also meant that there wasn't any more "fun" to be had.

Rock lulled his helmet back against his headrest and shot a glance off his right wing at the nearest wingman. "Guess they aren't that dumb," he sighed.

Tau's voice spoke up over the deployed Chimera combat forces primary coms in the area.

My intel indicates G.U.N. has canceled its deployment orders for the bulk of its air assets and is showed to be withdrawing it's deployed forces back to United federation territory."

There was a short pause before he spoke to Rock and Green's cockpits only.

"G.U.N. may have been attempting to bait Chimera into a trap, or believes Chimera was doing the same. It is unclear at this time."

The radar said all that needed saying. A quiet breath of a sigh escaped Green's speakers, a strangely realistic interpretation of one despite a lack of lungs, and such sigh-necessary things. "How very droll," he mused, "but not every fish will fail to see the hook that hides the bait." Perhaps through their sheer dominance of the Blue Eagles they'd elicited the retreat from the enemy forces. If they had feigned disorder and at least kept the fighting even, who knew how things might be going at that moment.

But better they be in one piece, nonetheless. Green couldn't blame themselves for that outcome.
