Sonic Spindash RP is closed.

Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.

It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

"I, uh.. well... maybe...?" Fenn raised his head to look upon their resident pirate, mild perplexity covering his features. "Theoretically speaking, something like an AI could lie if it were programmed to do so under certain circumstances, but... then again, it may not be possible to do so, as to lie would be to suggest facts that contradict the knowledge that they do possess, which may cause them to start fact-checking -themselves- to ensure that -they- know which facts are true, and which are false, in order to preserve the perfection that is an AI..."

...

"... um." He cleared his throat, shifting his gaze to one of the abundant monitors in the room as he ceased his ramblings. "It... we could just ask it, but, I dunno. We're a capable team of awesome somebodies, right..? Even if there's a potential trap, we can handle it. We've got the dude with the coolest gun for an arm. What could go wrong?"

He shrugged, and turned to the hedgehog with a hint of a smile upon his lips. "I think it's worth going along with it, anyway."

With everyone appearing to debate over the value of trust they should bestow on the A.I, Desmond's thought's led him to only one real conclusion on the matter. With a shrug, Desmond put down his two cents considering this back and forth talk seemed to be getting them nowhere.

"I dunno" the ferret continued after the panda finished giving his preference of action. "We either got a lead or we don't. I mean, even if we don't trust em' what are we gonna do after this?" He stopped while giving the view outside a short glance. "Wait for G.U.N's next order?"

Stopping himself before he continued any further, the ferret let out another short sigh as he gave his conclusion. "But it's basically Pax's choice here unless someone's gonna split ways." Looking over at the canine he simply waited for the agent to answer the question he threw at him.

"What's the plan boss?"

Geoff was finding himself placed at some major crossroads; that is, if what the AI said was true. Anything even related to Rock at these times felt tainted and to participate with the robot just felt foul... but maybe he was narrowing his view on things a bit too much? His mind was always becoming muddled with the slightest thought of the primate. This was a time to focus on what was actually being placed before him, not to throw distrust around at the slightest association with the monkey.

He exchanged glances quickly with most of the other members of the group, taking in their separate judgements.

"Well, what we did here is only puttin' a chip in the armor, I suppose," he said, sounding a bit more sure after a slight bout of hesitation. "But this? Sounds like a straight shot at just swipin' the damn thing's head right off. Not like we're going to get a better offer."

He nodded to Pax. "I'm in."

The AI refrained from proffering any data on its own capacity for lying and deception, and instead maintained respectful silence as they debated. Chances were it would speak again when addressed.

Jack frowned watching the monitors in the control room, She liked CT's and didn't want to harm them should she be able to avoid it. So she gave up her pursuit and listened to their conversation with the AI. Yet again, she didn't dare touch anything, crossing her arms to resist the temptation.

"I reckon that's the right call." she agreed with Geoff, offering him a smile. Glancing to Pax with a nod. "This ain't the sort ah offer that'll come around more then once."

There was a light lurch from the ship. A burbling, bubbling noise followed the sensation of gently descending, comparable to an elevator. If one turned attention to Casey at the helm, they'd find that he was paying little visible attention to their conversation, and was indeed up to something.

Cutting off any what-the-hecks before they were spoken, he leaned around his seat and waved.

"Don't worry—just dippin' us under the waves before any patrols spot us! Figured it'd be safer."

True to his nature, he stayed out of the conversation. Pax was the commanding officer, and military operations weren't democracies, so all he was concerned with was hearing the big man's order.

The panda appeared to know what he was going to do, at least. Making his way back to an unoccupied chair, he took his seat and idly began to examine his handheld to see what other options and menus it may have held - merely to pass the time, anyway. Fenn's current plan in mind was to keep goin' down the rabbit hole, and see where they'd end up. After all, for the first time in his life, he was given the chance to do some real good, even if it was under G.U.N. Not to mention the fact that such an opportunity made it that much easier to collect new tools and supplies.

Looking up briefly, Fenn nodded towards their team leader with a smile. "Right, yeah, I'm still in. Happy to help! If this is a good lead to go on, I'm right there wit'ya."

Pax looked across the room at all the members of the group. Though some didn't seem too thrilled, seeing so many smiles and nods instilled a sense of optimism in the agent. There was still a lingering feeling of unease with the situation in the back of his mind, but seeing so much support from the others made it hard to not feel more positive about everything.

With a grateful nod to everyone, Pax turned to face what he assumed was one of the microphones the AI was listening to them with. "We'll be grateful for any help you can give us. What can you tell us, what do we need to do?"

The AI answered without delay.

"The leaders of Chimera utilize a network of 'teleporter' devices to travel quickly between Earth and the XSV Typhaon. With the correct supplies, it would be possible for you to construct one of these devices and connect it to the network, enabling direct and immediate access to the capital ship."

An image came up on the floating, volumetric display in the middle of the room, showing several devices. One, a sort of mechanized-looking circular pad, very technical, with a couple variations, and another, much more ancient-looking pedestal with a large, red gem.

"Most materials necessary may be obtained or fabricated through conventional means, but the most crucial component will require... clandestine appropriation." From the sounds of it, that was a polite and bureaucratic way to say theft. "All Chimera airships containing these devices are too heavily guarded to consider another direct assault such as this one. I believe I have successfully located two such devices in considerably more remote locations, however, where they would be easily appropriated."

A map appeared, displaying two separate islands. The three-dimensional map rotated to show that one of the islands was actually in the sky.

"Several ancient examples of this technology are believed to be on Angel Island, in what is known as the 'Hidden Palace.' This area is thought to be undefended, but has shown signs of volcanic activity, and may be home to unknown natural hazards and even some robotic sentries left abandoned after Dr. Eggman's last campaign there."

"Alternatively, my records show that the first modern examples of this teleporter technology were constructed at a remote location known as Carnival Island. Carnival Island has long been abandoned and is included on few maps, but seems to be of great importance to the Capsule Trooper Army; there are many heavily-encrypted files pertaining to the location in CTA databases that not even I have access to, and, prior to your successful hijacking of this craft, it was under constant radar surveillance."

"Neither option is safe nor guarantees success. It is up to you to select at your own risk which option you wish to investigate, if either."

Sticking with his eventual decision, Geoff was allowed to listen to the AI a bit more freely than he would have been capable of only a few minutes prior, letting the long stretch of information and map-showing go along with studying eyes watching intently. There was an obvious raise of the eyebrows at the mention of the floating island — a geographic oddity that he'd only glimpsed in the distance — but beyond that, he was stoic. Finally, when the voice finished with the pile of information, he looked around to his companions yet again, maybe trying to discern their own reactions.

"Angel Island sounds like the best bet," he decided to begin. "All that'd be in our way is some old 'bots and a couple of curveballs from Mother Nature; nothin' we can't handle. Not to mention it'll keep Chimera from figurin' out what we're doin' in the long run."

"Angel Island?" repeated the previously reticent porter, swiveling in her chair. She frowned beneath steepled brows, addressing Pax more than anyone, since it was his call to make.

"That is the home of the guardian, Knuckles, friend to Sonic," Latika hedged, concern coloring her tone. "I read him as very territory protective in biography on reverse side of travel brochure; will he be kindly to strange people taking from ancient artifact of his land?"

Latika surely knew her Earth's Mightiest Heroes. Which was more than could be said for Ivan. He was never much one for studying. Granted, you'd have to be living under a rock not to know of someone like Knuckles. Ivan knew the name some of the stories of his exploits with the blue blur, but he certainly didn't know about his...home life, per se.

"With Pax as our diplomat, be there any doubt?" Ivan grinned in response to Latika's query. Was that a burn? Don't be silly.

Pax sat in his seat and listened to the AI's plan with the same quiet focus as Geoff, eyes darting between chunks of displayed information, picking it apart for anything notable, but the constant flow made it difficult to decipher much of it, and there truly were more important matters at hand that required his attention. As soon as the AI finished, Paxton stood from his seat and turned to face everyone, a hand resting on top of the chair's back, idly tilting the seat around as he spoke.

"I do have to agree with Geoff. Discretion here is very important, and I prefer Eggman remnants over the Capsule Trooper Army. Crazy as it might sound, though lava definitely isn't safe, at least it doesn't try to shoot you."

He turned his head towards Latika to answer the loris, "There wouldn't be a guarantee we'd even meet him there, but on the off-chance we did, I'm sure we could negotiate something, provided somebody doesn't draw a flintlock pistol at the first provocation..."

The dog did not look at Ivan as he emphasized 'somebody'.

"...And in the event negotiations don't work...we'll just have to work around it. Regardless, I think it will work out fine--much more fine than going to the mysterious island that every CT in the world is staring at. So, unless anyone has objections, we should go to Angel Island."

"Angel Island..." the name ran a lap around the ferret's mind until he could correctly pinpoint where that gravity defying habitat was located. "That floaty island right?" he asked aloud, with most intentions to solve the question himself. "My helicopter almost crashed into that place once..."

Minor inquiry aside, the ferret put two and two together with something the A.I mentioned about the group's chosen destination. Volcanic activity. Raising a hand in turn to start asking the artificial intelligence his own set of questions, Desmond only hoped that he would in turn get a positive response to his little issue.

"What we're lookin' for." he began slowly, "Will it be close enough that we have to worry about getting burned to death? I mean you mentioned volcanic stuff, and I don't really want another countdown segment like we had here a second ago just to check if this thing "might" worked."

Finished, he folded his arms as he mentally braced himself in case the worst of the two possibilities was laid out for them.

"Only one way to find out," blurted Casey back to Desmond in jolly repose of the topic as he took to the controls and started makin' it happen. "Settin' course!"

The engines whirred and the water burbled as the airship-transformed-sub accelerated, made a gentle, sweeping port turn, ascended, and burst free from the waves, the blast shields opening just in time to see the foamy, roaring ocean spray across the windscreen.

"Let's see what this baby can do!"

And up, up, up crept the throttle in the hog's grasp. Much to his surprise, the harder he pushed it, the more response it gave; he soon found himself pressed back in his seat. He refrained from giving it any more steam too abruptly, lest it bowl his passengers off their feet.

"Not b-b-bad," he stuttered with jowls all a-quake, powerful engines rumbling the whole ship.
