The hectic chaos was bordering on the comical, in a horrible kind of way.
"It wants— I don't know it's— I don't know, it wants a password or somethin'?" blurted Casey desperately in between Pax's own ramble as he flailed his arms in the air and tried to get his woefully big body out of the seat and out of the agent's way. "It says it needs authenticity! I mean identification! I mean authentication!"
He was a little frazzled.

Ivan was sure to get out of the way when the robot before them fired that huge beam of chaos energy. Luckily for him, he had dove in the opposite direction than the beam was dragged, seeing as Geoff was the target. Not so luckily, for any of them, they were in a hallway. Not the most efficient places to fight when you can't fire huge beams.
Ivan drew closer, flanking as best he could in the small corridor. He unsheathed his sword, hoping to close in before it redirected it's attention, and swung his sword down on it's main beam-shooting arm.

It was a bad day to be a hedgehog. In fact, when wasn't it when facing Eggman creations? Through rocket launchers and dim-witted Egg Pawns, Geoff had learned that lesson the hard way. If one had quills and a tendency to spindash, you bet those things would come running.
That didn't distract him from the fact that he was promptly slammed back even flatter against the wall the second the beam came swinging around, the fully notable noise of cracking crystal shooting through the confined space of the hall. For whoever decided to watch the spectacle, all that could really be seen was his armored form being pinned against the wall for the few more brief seconds that the beam existed. When it finally disappeared, he slumped to a floor in a heap of rock and rubble, what was actually seen of his face looking quite dazed.
What injuries he now sustained would yet to be determined, seeing how the hedgehog didn't make any hasty attempt to get a move on.

Ivan had a pretty stellar track record for dealing with robots that day, but in this particular case, his attack was met with surprising grace and brutality on the machine's part. Just as in the stereotypical scene of one crossing a street only to get broadsided by an offscreen truck, the rabbit's jumping slash was interrupted by a side-swiping shield as the robot ceased firing and instantly turned and swatted with its big, heavy metal shield-bearing arm. The motion was crisp, powerful, and fluid; an Egg Hammer this was not.
It leapt back a quick rocket-assisted hop while its gunarm hissed and cooled, heat distortion appearing in the air above it. It did not yet make any aggressive movements; it was just waiting to cool and recharge so it could blast them with another beam, all the while keeping its shield held in front of it.

Fenn kind of stared at the little handheld, biting his lip as he mulled over the options he was presented. Calling off the robot appeared to be a no-go, as the returned response was essentially "I'M BUSY". As he scrolled about, though, he did take a gander at a couple of the Tactics options, and one of the diagnostics as well...
He decided to give the 'Withdraw' command a try. If this didn't do anything to help out, he would actually make the attempt to utilize the reboot commands instead.
While he was doing that, he looked over to the frantic canine and the hog as they struggled with the controls. "Don't forget about my hacking tool..! It'll be fine, don't panic! Save the energy for the dance floor for when we complete our mission, 'cos we are gonna complete our mission!"
...
"...And we are gonna dance!"

Relieved to see herself uncooked, Tyra picked herself up off the corridor floor, hoping to walk off her injury. It wasn't that it felt like she was really hurt, but it was definitely a pain. And pain never helped anyone's judgment. "Alright!" she shouted to no one in particular, once again withdrawing the luckily unscathed grenade from her jacket pocket, "I'm usin' this now and you ain't gonna stop me!" This time, the giant robot wasn't surrounded by people she didn't intend to blow up. If you have a bomb, and you're fighting a giant robot, there's no real reason not to use the bomb--especially one that she'd been itching to use for weeks.
Pulling the pin, the wolverine adopted a very deliberate form as she prepared to chuck the now-armed explosive. Anyone looking closely could have recognized it as an overhanded pitch; she was throwing the bomb like it was a baseball, and Tyra was pretty good at it. With a fast and powerful swing, she launched the grenade high, aiming for above the robot's shield. However, a sudden sharp pain from her fresh injury protested the act, skewing her toss and sending the bomb flying directly at the shield instead.
With little time to contemplate dancing, Pax quickly degraded to spewing panicked stutters and mumbles. But Fenn's urging did spark the dog to retrieve the "Mad Gear" cracking program. Unaware of how many seconds they had left to live, Paxton spared the panda an extremely quick nod and outright dove back to the comms console and scrambled to grab the panda-head-shaped flash drive. At this point, his hands were shaking and he was nearly hyperventilating as he returned to the helm seat. "Wheredoesitgowheredoesitgowheredoesitgowheredoesit--HERE!" he loudly and shrilly declared as he yanked open an access panel on one of the computer's sides, revealing a number of ports beneath. Without hesitation, he jammed the device in, and hoped it was the right one.

The sinking feeling Desmond had in his gut would then be taken into a literal sense as the voice warned the smaller crew of the ships suicidal dive into the depths. Things immediately went from good to worse this time around as the countdown started and those responsible for turning that around where freaking out and collectively babbling at each other in confusion (save Fenn who seemed to taking the certain doom scenario quite well).
With the frantic scene taking place behind him, Desmond's attention veered from whatever he was looking at before towards the highly stressed agent who would have possibly passed out already if their lives weren't on the line. The canine's panicking didn't make things easier, so much to the point where to ferret hurried over to the ferret and attempted to calm him down. To say the least, doing advanced work like that while as frightened as he was would probably lead to a few unforgiving errors.
"Hey, calm down", he spoke to the agent with as much composure as he could muster "You've got this under control, now just unlock this ships control and let Casey do the rest."
Letting go of the agent's shoulder, he backed off and let the dog finish the authorization process without disturbance. Taking a a quick look over at Casey, he gave the boar a small grin while he went away to continue watching for anything unusual.

When the giant laser beam finally subsided, Avatar thought it safe to stand up again. She was mostly unharmed - mostly. Her tail was another story. It being so large, it was hard to move it completely out of the way, and it got the worst of the hit. The piranha winced as she stood up, but it was nothing she couldn't handle.
When she turned to look back at the laser-wielding-robot, Ivan was already going at it with his sword - again. This time, it didn't seem to work out as well. She was about to say something, but Tyra beat her to it. Something about.. a grenade?
...Oh god.
"Dude!" She she yelled to the wolverine. "Ivan is right there!" It was too late though, the bomb was launched. Avatar hoped that the rabbit was hit away far enough that he was no longer in the blast-radius. Not to mention it was a completely horrible throw. That shield would probably get the worst of the damage - which probably wasn't the intent. The fish thought quickly and jumped toward the bomb, twisting her body just enough so her tail would hit the grenade hard enough to shift it's trajectory to hit the robot and not it's shield.

Ivan was in fact smacked far enough away that the incoming grenade probably wouldn't hit him. At least, not with the explosion. But with frag grenades like that, it was the shrapnel you need to worry about. And none of them were terribly safe, with that in mind. Ivan scrambled to his feet, backing away. He reached into his pocket, pulling out one of those shiny rings he'd hoovered up.
Based on historical accounts, luck always seemed to shine on those who held at least one of those glistening dimes. Time to see if there was any truth to that.

Being in the front of the group, Jack got to see the robot first, and his rather neat transformation. Less then awesome was the energy beam, She dove away as well, but when the CE flashlight moved to meet the hedgehog it was hard not to get hit as well. Her angle had her tossed against the wall with a bang, an entire arm and shoulder consumed in a burning pain, and the other stung from the strike against the wall. Jack had to take a moment to steady herself before stepping back out, she was uncomfortably close to the thing, and watched as Ivan get smacked back like an insect.
Then there was Tyra, and another grenade. Jack was going to have to lead a safety course before anyone else was allowed to have one of those. With a grumble she scrambled back up the hall away for the robot, this wasn't going to be good. And she was sure it wouldn't do much more then farther anger the bot.

"Warning: Current depth: 275 meters. Hull pressure is at approximately 28 atmospheres. Maximum operating depth is 290 meters. Rate of descent: 1 meter per second."
Unfortunately, the E-2000's shield was huge, coffin-esque, and made realtime adjustments with computerized speed. Fortunately, grenades aren't all that bouncy and rubbery, so it didn't make a world of difference whether the grenade struck robot or shield, as it just went "clank" either way and fell heftily to the metal floor before exploding.
The sheer explosive force actually managed to knock the robot back several steps and scar its shield, but, as Jack predicted, it didn't do a whole lot else. Truly, if Tyra hadn't been injured and her original toss had gone where she wanted it, she'd probably be getting a medal rather than the Fun and Safety with Explosives class.
In the meantime, the E-2000 suddenly shifted posture. It discreetly raised its gun arm behind its shield in preparation, then lifted itself off the ground with the boosters in its feet and essentially shield-rushed through the small corridor like a flying battering ram, headed straight for the door they were supposed to be defending.
But what about Fenn's actions? The "withdraw" command?
Computers were frustrating, and just plain difficult at times. It affirmed the command, but didn't seem to do anything. If he hit it again, it would return an error stating that the E-2000 had already returned to its facility of origin. Apparently, the Orca was its "home" and, being that most Eggman robots had little sense of self-preservation, it was not programmed with any further concept of retreat beyond "return to base."
At least Pax's struggle went a little bit more easily. Much like the other console, the helm interface (which, besides the myriad controls, also consisted of a large touchscreen) unlocked after just ten or so seconds' password cracking.
"Warning: Never-exceed depth has been reached! Current depth: 290 meters. Hull pressure is in excess of 29 atmospheres! Rate of descent: 1 meter per second. Continued hull integrity cannot be ensured at this depth. Approaching crush depth."
...
The password turned out to be the same one that had just unlocked the other console! They could have skipped the process entirely. The ship began to groan. As the windscreen cracked, visibly and audibly right in front of them, a set of metal blast doors snapped down quickly. Even still, water began to leak through them profusely, running all across the floor of the ship's bridge and over Casey, Pax, Desmond, and Fenn's feet.

"Git-git-GIT-GIT I got this!!"
If Pax was not out of the way, he'd probably get half-sat-upon by the big boar, who occupied the seat as if his life depended on it, which it did.
The process looked a little clumsy with one arm, but he did the best he could with it. The sweat rolled off his brow as he struggled to read the tiny labels on switches and levers and navigate the touchscreen interface to find what he needed.
"Ballasts, ballasts, ballasts," he muttered breathlessly. "This ain't like any submarine I ever been on!"
Maybe he did something right, because there came the sound of a great rushing of air, and the ship lurched and bucked, and groaned even louder under new strain, as it seemed to change direction. Given that they had no visual of the outside world and no point of reference, though, it was hard to tell if they were going up, or rolling over, or what just yet.

If there was one thing Fenn had learned about the technology he loved so dearly, it was that it had this nasty habit of being about as cooperative as a stubborn child. When the error returned explaining that the E-2000 couldn't withdraw back to base when it was already back to base, the panda couldn't help but take out what appeared to be a pencil, and began chewing on the eraser end. As he gnashed the poor thing between his teeth, he furrowed his brow and continued to look over his options.
Well, he certainly wasn't going to get the stupid thing to go away, so the only other alternative was to find some way to lower the difficulty. As the ship rocked with a slight jolt, per Casey's actions of finally taking control of the ship, Fenn held fast to his seat to keep from accidentally falling forward onto the floor.
He explored the Aggressiveness selection on the Tactics bar, hoping to find some way to maybe tone down the fierceness of its attacks on his teammates. Because, from the sound of things down the hall, it was getting pretty messy already. ... Was that the sound of an energy beam? And a grenade explosion...? He could only wonder just what on earth they were fighting in there.

Jack turned out of her cover with her gun in hand as the robot changed position and prepared to charge them. Jack held the gun in her left hand, her right still stung too badly for her to trust it to hold the gun steady. She was in its path either way, so she had to act, immediately. She took aim, and let out a breath in a quick sigh then fired off four shots.
Not a one of them were aimed at the robot. Each shot was aimed to hit the hard floor in front of her and ricochet into the feet thrusters of the robot as it rushed them. If she was lucky she'd bring his charge to a halt, if not she might just get smacked by the robot as it continued on unimpeded.

While Jack's revolver rounds may not have had robot-armor-punchin' power, she was able to place them with a great deal of accuracy and, in this case, creativity, and it paid off in spades when several of the shots went up the E-2000's thruster exhaust.
Sparks shot out, and there was a pretty nasty sound as the robot suddenly dropped to the floor. One of the thrusters she hit seemed okay after the initial sputter, but the other one immediately flamed out. This actually made matters worse as the one continued firing, sending the robot wildly off-kilter and into a mean-looking, loud-clanging tumble across the floor.
It crashed and clattered out of control for a good fifteen feet before righting itself and finishing out the rest of the stop in a surprisingly graceful-looking backward skid on both feet, facing the way it had come from, both thrusters deactivated. The instant it stopped, it evaluated the nearest threat. If anything was drawing too near, it'd move to swat it away with its shield, and then aim to let loose another enormous, six-foot-wide beam down the corridor, this time back at Jack, who had successfully earned its ire.
On the handheld computer, Fenn found that the "Aggressiveness" settings would adjust whether it would take a defensive (zone-protecting) stance, or an offensive (pursuit and interception of hostiles) approach. It also included a preference on range of engagement. Perhaps helpful, but nothing super game-changing just yet.
