Updates Sonic Spindash RP is closed.Founded 05/25/2002 by three friends; ended 09/19/2012.
It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.
Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.
I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.
I love you guys. God bless.

Casey had just started to actually grasp the ladder and move to descend it when all the unrest began. He paused, changed his mind, and turned back again, gun at the ready. He was stepping sort of slowly to the door, but he paused before he passed by Pax and Tyra.
"Shut'cher mouth, Gulo!" he barked suddenly, reverting to Military Mode, pointing vigorously. "You signed the papers yesterday, so get on the threat and respect your superior or you're gettin' a trial instead of a paycheck! Move, move!"
He then pointed at Fenn. "Th' lieutenant's busy enough! You handle it!" He then hastily wheeled around toward Ivan. "Ivan, Clarke: help us out—keep'em from gettin'emselves killed out there!" And, to Geoff: "Hawkins, don't let anything get in here! We need time!"
Pax may have been the commanding officer, but Casey must have felt a strong need to be his backbone and support. Pax was very green, very new, and seemed very easily shaken; it was Casey's job to be that grizzled, rock-steady foundation.
"We'll worry with the trouble, just do what you can from here, a'right?" he reassured, or perhaps requested, looking very... intent. "Quickly..."

Latika had helped herself to an efficient, but comfortable task chair, and had contented herself to pretend to ignore all the dissension with the novelty of swiveling back and forth, while watching the ancient game idle in front of her on demo mode.
It wasn't that she was bored; the bridge was far too much a wonderland of new experiences for that -- it was more that she didn't really know what to do with herself while the people who did have specific tasks set about them.
That being said, it came as something of near-relief (or at the very least, an alleviation of pressure to find something productive to do) when the crass and cranky fish girl called reported in with strange noises... along with her intent to check them out solo. The porter sprung immediately from her seat sans orders, and departed the bridge in as much a hurry as she was capable of (which, lamentably, in present company meant she'd easily be the last on the scene). Her demeanor transitioned appropriately from one of awed curiosity to a primed alertness, as tugged loose her meteor hammer from the back of her sash.
"Someone will try to give generous warning if we are unable to contain threatening," she told no one in particular just before she left.

Casey's barking commands managed to spark something in Geoff; not annoyance from abruptly finding himself being under orders, but a flare of purpose when the ominous, metallic thumps of hidden feet started clanging their way up from the last hall. His own relaxed posture soon disappeared as he strode forward back the way they came, his face like one ready to take on a major client, the business being robot dismantlement.
With only a brief nod to Casey, he exited the room, hastily catching up with Latika with determined steps. Crystal glinted already across his form in his preparation for battle, a fighting flame in his eyes. This didn't sound like the typical Egg Pawn at all.
"Can't be much worse than that last one," he decided to mention to the loris as she wielded her weapon. He actually managed to offer a grin to the girl, a drop of confidence falling into his tone now. "And if it is... it's sure in for a nasty surprise from the both of us."
No matter what her response consisted of, his stare would settle forward again, layers of determination dwelling in it.

The panda stood up tall, giving the hog a quick salute, as if he was just fresh out of boot camp. Casey issuing his orders with such vigor seemed to encourage Fenn to work harder, and while the offensive cavalry headed off to intercept the new threat, the monochromatic bear set to work to find a way to either call it off, or at the very least stall it somehow.
Fenn turned to their leader, and gave him a hearty pat on the shoulder. Hopefully, his toothy grin would've been enough to at least make the poor canine feel a little better about the situation - it was time to get back to work. "C'mon, dawg." Did he really just say that? "Let's try to crack this thing, quickly. Gonna hopefully make a 'bot hit itself a few times. Ooh, or maybe even dance, with th' top hat'n everythin'..."
It is possible he was just trying to ease the mood around Pax a bit.
He rummaged around in his coat, before pulling out a stylish-looking flash drive, and handed it over to Pax with a grin. The drive itself seemed to be shaped like the silhouette of his own head, red dots where the eyes should've been, complete with tiny print that read "MAD GEAR" along the bottom. "Find a place fer that beauty, plug it in, and you'll be able to run one hell of a pass-cracking algorithm, designed by yours truly! I've... used it quite a bit, while on the job... We might have ourselves a cleared authorization in minutes! ... But, given we're dealing with EggTech, it... might take longer'n that..." His eyes trailed back down to the handheld he was wielding. "In which case, I need t'hurry up and figure out what to do about big-n-baddie that's down the hall... Anything that can stall it while we work, maybe give our team an advantage..."
The panda's attention turned back to the little device as he took the gunner's chair, and began to explore the available options held within - if it was possible, his aim was to try to send an order of retreat, and send the E-2000 back to whatever hangar it had crawled out of. Barring that, he considered to himself the possibility of, perhaps, getting any nearby robots to intercept it and treat it as a hostile. Though, this could potentially put the others at risk, or possibly even the ship itself... Fenn mulled over his options as he continued the examination.
Though, he really did look for the option to make it dance, if only for a second.

Jack had gone into standby mode in the bridge, not willing to get NEAR any of the complex controls given how likely she was to break something. So when Casey gave her a job she was already heading for the door. She unholstered her weapon without a word, her features setting on grim seriousness. If this was another robot like the last, she might not be able to do much more then annoy it. So down the hall she trudged towards the noises, not sure what to expect.
"Careful, Hoss." She cautioned Avatar as she came up beside her.

Ivan's ears perked when he heard some thumping footsteps from where they came, followed by the piranha girl darting into the soon-to-be-fray. He hesitated for a moment, looking around at the others. He didn't really need to be told to head out, but Casey barking orders reinforced that it definitely needed to be done.
He was off down the hall, following close behind the revolver-weilding ex-cop.

Tyra wasn't expecting such a fierce reaction out of the hog. She actually flinched at his verbal lashing. As soon as he finished outright ordering her, she raised her hands defensively and walking towards the corridor everyone else was heading out of. "Alright, alright, I'm going, I'm going," she said, sounding like an annoyed scolded teenager. But as soon as Casey turned his back on her, the wolverine started glaring holes in his head, as well as Pax's, before heading down the hall with everyone else, jogging to catch up to the front.
For most of the moment, Pax just stood and watched Casey take control of the situation. Having his help was a great relief, and seeing people actually moving around to handle the encroaching problem was the most reassuring thing he'd seen. When Fenn approached him, all the panda got for a while was a bemused, almost blank stare. But when handed the flash drive, he looked at it closely and couldn't help but crack a smile. It seemed the friendly pat on the back was something the dog needed.
Paxton nodded to Fenn and Casey. "Yeah, yeah, I'll get this handled," he said, his mumble rising back to normal speaking volume, taking on an excited energy. "Y-yeah, alright! You take care of... whatever's out there, and I'll take care of the computer systems. One way or another, I'm breaking into that thing, all I need is a little time." He turned back to the computer he was using earlier and lowered himself to a crouch, starting his search for some kind of access for Fenn's program. There had to have been a port somewhere, the canine knew there had to be. His examination took on a quick, almost frantic demeanor. He must have been getting caught up in the moment, because he noticed his heart was racing, but it didn't feel like panic.
He snapped back up from his search and turned to the others again. "Oh, um, and thanks! And be careful out there!" he blurted.

As bewildered from the commotion hailing only a few rooms down, the ferret had already armed himself with his pistol while finding himself almost following the piranha girl who seemed to be brimming with a sense of curiosity. "Wait a-" he had called shortly before the girl was off on her self appointed search. "minute...". "Wow... is this how Pax feels all the time?"
Truthfully he would have gone after her to make sure she didn't do anything stupid, but instead he let her go play scout. Casey's sense to bark orders had the rest of the group already following the piranha's tracks while Desmond could only halt where he was. "Maybe she had a point". He looked over at Pax and the new guy (Fenn right?) unsure if they were safe by themselves with the rest dispersed towards whatever was coming their way. Looking over at the boar, he tried giving the boar his suggestion.
"Hey Case' who's gonna watch those two if somethin' happens back here?" He inquired while pointing at the two standing at the console. He wasn't too sure himself, but there was an uneasy feeling he had, as if something else was going to show up and possibly take on or take out their two tech guys. Hopefully it was prove false and they would find that thing down the hall the only problem for now.

The first thing Avatar would see racing up toward her was a strange, small aircraft, red and yellow, and a little on the boxy side. "Small" was of course relative; it took up a good portion of the hallway, but, still, it was at least capable of fitting in the hallway. As soon as it saw Avatar and the others, it reacted by immediately altering its form. In just a blink of an eye, it went from being a slightly doofy-looking little hover-vehicle to a looming, bipedal, sharp-armored killbot, and immediately let loose its main weapon at at the first to approach it. A tremendous, six-foot-wide, continuous energy beam from its right arm nearly consumed the hallway, and put a huge, smoldering, concave impression in the wall where the ray eventually terminated. The beam, comprised of some sort of repulsive, thermally-charged chaos energy blast, would be survivable, but quite injurious—anyone caught in it would suddenly feel as though they got hit by an 18-wheeler—speeding, and on fire. If indirectly struck, they may have simply tumbled to the side after suffering the blow; if squarely and directly, they'd probably have the misfortune of riding it all the way to the back wall, where they would become a fixture in the dented steel. Additional image, just for reference:
Meanwhile, Fenn would find that there was indeed an option to cancel the call for the E-2000. However, if attempted, it would acknowledge, but report back that the unit was "presently engaged with enemy." Additional options he would find included... - Tactics (sub-options included Attack Mode, Aggressiveness, Intercept, and Withdraw) - Diagnostics (mostly troubleshooting and maintenance software, from the looks of it, including Servo Calibration, Memory Check, and Reboot functions, among others) And so on. It was a lot of menus to thumb through, for sure. Over at Pax's station, progress would go pretty well with bruteforcing through the password prompts. Again, Eggman did not built his systems with much concern for "hacking," and little had been done by Chimera to upgrade each and every ship, so it only took seconds to get through. Communications arrays were soon disabled, and with a little more effort, it'd be easy enough to ensure that reports would no longer be sent back to HQ once they were reenabled, nor commands received. A hangup came in another form, though: a synthesized voice. " Warning: Current depth: 250 meters. Hull pressure is at approximately 25 atmospheres. Maximum operating depth is 290 meters. Rate of descent: 1 meter per second." If Pax didn't turn things around quickly (a little math revealed 40 seconds), the robot in the hall would be the last thing any of them had to worry about.

"I will!" responded Casey to Desmond. Then, the alert sounded. If Desmond started to leave, he'd find that his shoulder was grabbed.
"Cancel that, you will!" blurted the hog, before he made haste to take the helmsman's seat. Could Casey fly an airship? Or... pilot a submarine? Or... well, control whatever the heck it was? That remained to be seen, but as he scoured the controls, he at least looked like he knew what he was doing.
"Lieutenant, helm controls are locked!" he shouted in brief report, probably in hopes that Pax could do something about it.

The fish looked curiously at the ship, and was about to sneak a bit closer when everyone else showed up. Right then, she knew any stealth she had, was gone. Avatar was a slight bit annoyed, but mostly relieved. Even she wasn't thick-headed enough to think she could take this thing on by herself.
Then, it transformed. Into another giant robot. This one looked much more balanced then the first - and much more deadly. The giant laser beam proved that all too well.
The piranha scrambled to get as close as possible to the wall, but the beam still managed to narrowly hit her tail.
"Nugh." Avatar winced in pain as she stumbled to her knees.

Heat blazed over Geoff as he was forced to dive to the side, plastered to the wall so tightly it appeared that there would be a need of some leverage to rip him away from it. The beam was barely a foot away, having managed to melt the hedgehog's confident grin into a wide-eyed "holy $%@& that's a big laser" stare, hands and back flattened as far as possible from the ridiculously spacious attack. He ended up hiding behind a shell of crystal for an extra measure, the rock reflecting the light like some faceted shard.
A little shocked from the scope of the beam, it took him a moment to peel away from the wall when it finally dissolved. Regaining his jolted senses, he wouldn't waste anymore time, remembering the task given as he charged forward down the hall. The whole trip, his eyes remained locked on the source of the glowing behemoth of energy, waiting for the slightest flicker of red in preparation to throw himself to the side again. On any lack of lasers, however, he would hastily be leaping at the sharp-angled robot, the angle more horizontal as he spun for its chest.

Much to the party's misfortune, the huge beam did not behave as they might have anticipated. That is to say, even though they breezed to the side, the damned thing sustained for several whole seconds, and the robot steered it into their dodging path, as if turning some sort of flashlight beam of destruction onto them.
There were two fortunate things, however: It stopped after just a couple seconds more, and it was not a laser, or they would have already been dead. (Here, "dead" means "turned into a steamy vapor formed from the various fluids and solids that used to be their bodies.") It was but a CE-variety beam weapon (but a darn big one). It seemed to prioritize almost entirely on Geoff, which was extra bad since he'd just thrown himself defensively against a wall. It probably involved the fact that he was a hedgehog, and this thing was an Eggman robot. That, and maybe some remnant of his identity confusion from back in the Eggman Empire days not so long ago...

Being so intent to catch up to the others, Tyra was one of the last to notice the threat, and unfortunately lacked the reflexes to dodge out of a laser she didn't notice until the last second. She tried her best to plaster herself against the wall of the corridor, but the beam clipped the right side of her torso, sending tumbling into the left metal wall hard, and leaving her right side feeling like it had just been microwaved.
"Fuuaaaaaghhghh...!" she hissed through her teeth as she clutched at the scorched spot, climbing back to her feet--though she did struggle with her balance. Today, she felt like a ping-pong ball from how much she'd been thrown around, and it was starting to daze her. But then the wolverine realized the beaming was moving uncomfortably close to her face. Snapping back to attention, her first impulse was to duck down and try to roll under the beam if there was enough room to fit. Tyra wasn't willing to cling to the wall and hope it didn't barbecue her too much.
Paxton's positive mood at their progress seemed to flash-evaporate upon hearing the synthesized warning, the hopeful smile he was sporting almost instantly sinking into a grimace of teeth-clenching panic. "Who-who leaves the sub controls stuck in a dive?!" he growled with distress.
Upon hearing Casey's report, the agent was quick to ditch the comms station to come to the hog's aid. "What do you mean by locked?! Are they unresponsive, or just plain stuck? Is-is there a switch or something!?" He shot the questions off like a gun as his eyes leaped between every button and lever and screen in front of him. There had to been some sort of solution, but Pax certainly didn't know how to pilot Eggman-designed airship-submarine-things. "Oh no, oh no, oh no on no..."

It was all Latika could do to grin feebly in reply to the hedgehog's comments as he fell back to her pace and then left her in his dust, as he would have had to do in order to arrive along with everyone else. That wasn't to say she was taking it easy -- On the contrary, her strain left little room for much anticipation, quipping, or any of the other standard pre-boss fare, as, well. You know. Slow loris is slow.
Generously after the first wave of the E-2000's assault, Lattie emerged at the back of the pack, trying to sum up what they were dealing with without having been present to see it for herself. The only things apparent were that team mates were injured, the hall wasn't made for the kind of abuse its guardian was subjecting it to, and said energy beam-wielding robot seemed to have a rather tenacious sweet tooth for Geoff.
Between the potential for friendly fire, and the rapid pace of the environment (to say nothing of their foe's offensive), Latika wasn't really certain what to do, or if there even was anything she could do.
