It pains me to say this, but we're done. Thank you to those who have participated and followed along these many years. We had a lot of fun, and your contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

Strangers and visitors of the future, please respect what is ours. If there is anything in the form of writing or rules you'd like to borrow for your own RP, please e-mail me on the gmail account "onsoku" for permission. Chances are I'll grant it if you are a nice, intelligent person, and agree to just a few small stipulations regarding proper crediting method. But please, leave our characters alone. All fan-made, original, non-SEGA characters, character art, and concepts remain property of their respective creators. Please show respect and don't try to take any of them for your own use.

I hope that some of us will be able to move on and have some more fun writing hobbies in the future. No matter what, we'll stay in touch, and this group will live on, even if it has nothing to do with RP.

I love you guys. God bless.

With a weak smile that desperately attempted enthusiasm, Latika lifted her head heavily, inclining it in Casey's direction, but said nothing, as Pax soon began to speak. For all the loris reacted, however, he might as well have been speaking a foreign language (and, hey, actually, he was).

She blinked with questionable cognizance as though either not comprehending, or not caring to, and addressed each of her ears with a befuddled rap of her palms, mistakenly crediting the GUN agent's volume issues to the previous night's festivities.

She cast a furrow-browed stare onto the newly recovered serval, which quickly segued onto the canine operative. Suddenly, the porter looked a lot more lucid, as she inclined her head in Pax's direction, evidently interested in the answer to the cat's query.

Paxton stared at Ace blankly. He opened his mouth to speak, and froze, thinking his words over carefully before continuing with his answer. "We would be a part of anti-Chimera activities in the South Island area, doing our best to interfere with their operations and removing their influence when possible. There's already a mission lined up for us, but...I'd like to save that for later..." Talking to the serval was an awkward thing, as the agent hardly knew him until yesterday, not to mention last night's occurrences.

"...Any, uh...other questions?"

"Why did we have to do this on the roof?" the wolverine droned, not looking up from the table to question the agent. Tyra was audibly holding back her aggravation for once.

"Uh...well, it was secluded, far from prying eyes, and...it's kinda pretty up here, isn't it? Refreshing?"

"...Hmph..."

"...Er...anyone else?

"Kay, jus' hold on a minute here. You need ta' clarify something here for me. GUN wanted ya ta grab a bunch'a people that you hardly knew and make some team to take down another military? Dude, you can't say that makes sense."

Though the piranha was inwardly ecstatic over just the thought of helping to take down Chimera, she had to wonder why GUN would trust a bunch of misfits to cover an important mission like this. She didn't know much about the others, but she knew that her criminal record alone would be enough to get her sent to GUN's personal prison. Not to mention she was - and still is - part of a gang.

I doubt this person even thought about doing a background check, She thought. Why would GUN trust a mission like this to someone this inexperienced and naive?

Ivan opted to ignore the question regarding why his liquor flask had the name Louis on it and just smiled and nodded to Jack, taking another sip from the paper cup. Pretty soon as everyone arrived little by little it became time to hear what it was that PAX had to say. It was something, alright.

Officially join GUN? Ivan wasn't sure how he felt about that. He shot a glance toward Ace who appeared to have reconciled with the leader of Chimera. He then looked at Pax again.

"Ya didn't really explain who it is you'd be hirin', didja?" Ivan asked with a grin before adding, "Not many military establishments be jumpin' at the chance to add a pirate to payroll."

Casey sat up and leaned forward, resting his elbow on the table as he assumed a little more of an obvious presence for a moment.

"Well, see, that's just the thing," he intervened on Pax's behalf for a moment, since the guy seemed to be getting... rattled, to say the least. "This work we're about to do is actually more up your alley than you might think. You could almost say this'll make you less of a pirate, and more of a... privateer."

He glanced around the table.

"It's also a good opportunity for anybody with a rapsheet in the UF to get a clean slate, and get paid doin' it."

Pax stared at the fish and the pirate, mouth open but no words coming out. When Casey spoke up for him, he couldn't help but smile. Giving the big guy a grateful nod for the support, he continued, "Yeah, he's right, everyone will get appropriate compensation for their help. I know that...some of you have a...bad history with GUN...not as bad as your friend maybe but... Well, as he said, if you all lend us your support, GUN will just pretend it never happened, for good. We'll never trouble any of you over it in the future..."

As he spoke, his eyes couldn't help but linger on the green hedgehog and yellow serval, though he tried his best to hide his focus on them.

"...If you don't believe me, I can put you in touch with my superior, and she'll assure you the same thing. Honest."

Geoff had appear less than enthused with the majority of the current conversation, his attention really only perking at the mention of working against Chimera. Other than that, though, the prospect of being under the employment of the major military organization didn't thrill him all too much. Working with their people was one thing, being asked to present the uniform as his own was another. The only other incentive was the potential erasing of the 'rapsheet'... and if the hedgehog's assumptions were true, G.U.N. knew of the major crater he'd help make back in Empire City.

Pax's particular glance wasn't lost on him either, Geoff only returning it with a narrower stare.

"...I'll say it's at least tempting," he managed to mention after a few seconds pause, suddenly motioning to Avatar. "But she has a point; why us, exactly?"

He looked pointedly at Pax.

"They already got you onto South Island without any harm done. Why not just sneak in some more of their men than dealing with... well, us."

He raised his arms as he acknowledged the group as if trying to exemplify the presence of the members armed to the teeth with CE, foreign fighting abilities, gun arms and other assorted weaponry that mixed into an unstable combination for any mess of misfits.

"You're assumin' they got men left," snorted Casey insensitively. He shot an apologetic glance to Pax immediately after, with an under-the-breath "sorry," then added: "The kind of work that needs doin' ain't the kinda thing you send uniform-wearin' squads an' fireteams into. I mean, not to be specist or anythin', here, but, yeah, humans are good at all that delicate tactical work and subterfuge an' all, but goin' up against the likes of Chimera and the Eggman is somethin' that takes not only some smarts, but a lil' elbow grease to go with it. Y'know, a lil' more... hedgehogs-in-crystal-armor, an' big-ol'-pigmen-with-machinegun-arms kinda stuff."

At least he was honest with himself.

Avatar was pleased that the hedgehog agreed with her. She was glad someone else saw how odd this seemed. As far as she knew, no military force asked random people off the street to go on super-secret missions. Clearly, she didn't know much , because here she was in that very situation.

The explanation given didn't set her mind at ease either.

"So, what'chr sayin' here is that humans are too fragl' and delicate to fight Chimera so they decided to hire help from our species? Don't get me wrong, I'll help out, but that still doesn't answer the question of 'why us'. I mean, if they really needed more muscle, couldn't they send in Shadow, or Sonic, or one'a those popular guys?" She paused for a moment, trying to sort out the mess of thoughts passing through her head at the moment. The piranha's thoughts seemed to be at war. One side of her wanted more details on that was going on, and the other was telling her just to shut up and go with it, this was the adventure she was waiting for. She didn't want to ruin her chance.

Ultimatly though, her curiosity - as usual - won over. Avatar shook her head slowly, then focused on Pax. "Seriously, you just met us. Hell, I just met all of you. What makes you think you can trust any of us. I don't mean to say that you all aren't trustworthy, I'm just sayin' this is a pretty important mission you're throwin' in the hands of some strangers."

As Casey and Pax continued to try to sell the idea, Ivan nodded. Everything started to come together in a way that made perfect sense. At least, it seemed to. Other people seemed to still be weary of it though. He finished off his spiked coffee and set the paper cup down.

The piranha continued to question why he was forming a task force of strangers. Not necessarily an invalid concern, but it was fairly uncommon for a task force such as this to be formed solely from the leader's BFF's. At least from his understanding. He let out a hearty laugh when it came to them being trustworthy.

"I be a pirate, lass! A'course I ain't trustworthy!" He said without a hint of doubt in his voice, but he also had a big grin as he said it. Was he messing with her?

His gaze then fell to Casey again, then at Pax, "If ol' Casey here is right about this, it sounds like it might be fun. I'm in." He said, just setting it out there. Casey promised that it was up his alley, after all.

Jack listened carefully, her expression was fairly blank as her mind processed what this would mean. A lot of the math made sense, from GUN's stand point. They where desperate, pure and simple. And it wasn't nothing that a rag-tag group like themselves dethroned Eggman in the first place. Finally she looked at the Piranha, stepping in to answer for the pig and the dog.

"Eggman, is why it has to be us." Jack said glancing at Pax, for confirmation. "He's got just 'bout everyone else wrapped up in Central City. That, and some of us have a record'ah doin' things like this anyway."

She took a deep breath and let it out in a slow sigh. "There's plenty about this I don't like, Pax. But I reckon if we do nothin' then Chimera will just get stronger and bolder. I'm in, but I don't want the money."

Casey's comment on GUN's lack of personnel gave him a dour stare from Pax, and as he watched the banter between the group, he visibly cringed and bowed his head at the mere mention of Central City. But he continued to listen, and when Jack began to speak directly to him, he looked up to face her. Despite her clear uncertainty, her agreement did seem to lift the agent's spirits somewhat. The dog gave the griffin a grateful look before he started to talk again.

"Jack and Casey are right," he sighed. "GUN is mostly focused on on the UF, primarily...Central City." He lingered on the town's name, a troubled look in his eyes. "...I only got here because I'm an inconspicuous guy, I guess. It's hard for GUN to operate in South Island because of the constant surveillance, but the mission that's lined up for us--those of us that accept our proposition--may be the first step in picking apart Chimera's control over South Island. That will definitely alleviate some of the pressure on the UF, and show everyone that Chimera isn't as in-control as it looks."

Paxton looked long and hard at the group assembled before him.

"I know you've been through a lot, but with your help, we can put a true end to all of this. Chimera will be dismantled, and your...'friends'...well..." he weakly trailed off, awkwardly shifting in place, "...it will get handled..."

For a moment, Avatar drummed her fingers against her arm - just letting the new information sink in - but once the dog had finished his explanation, she nodded. That made more sense. They wanted people that didn't look like soldiers. People no one would recognize as the 'heroes'.

"'Suppose that makes sense. Like I said earlier, I'll do it." She replied, letting a small smirk slip from the corner of her mouth.

And near the back, on his laid-out lawnchair, Ace rose with a stretch, as if coming from a long nap. "Hweeelp," he yawned. "Sounds like y'all got a pretty sweet gig there." The cat slumped himself off and stood himself up, sparing glances to each of the party around him. "Don't be strangers, now. Maybe send me a postcard from the president's office sometime, yeah?"

Even though the hedgehog just remained still and unresponsive as the various reasons of their employment became clearer, he at least remained attentive. That, by no means, wiped the uncertainty from his face, something that probably would remain in his mind with either decision he could choose. Speaking of which, however, Geoff was finding himself particularly convinced when the others began to toss in their support of the offer; perhaps this was for the greater good, despite the employers.

Yet when he was about to reluctantly give his own agreement, Ace began to dismiss himself from the group, causing the hedgehog to pause. Slowly, he turned in his seat, an arm perched on its back as he delivered a hard stare towards the serval.

"What else are you thinkin' of doing?" he asked, oddly forward with the question.
