The overtly hostile nuisance stopped and gazed haughtily at the approaching, wading hedgehog. He put his hands to his cheeks and twisted daintily at the waist.

"Oh no, oh no! Your secret power is glitter, whatever will I do n—" *SLAM.*

The metal door closed with heft and force just before anyone could quite get to it, and made a chunky, clunky latching sound. It was a sturdy door, albeit an old one; strong, but not impenetrable. And, if one listened hard, he or she might hear laughing coming from the other side. Just in case they couldn't hear, though, one of the rustic old PA speakers on the ceiling crackled up with his voice.

"Hey, guys! So, I'd like to know—What's your plan now? Get Power Flab to hat dance the door down? Yeah, I figured that was it. I'm just saying this to be a good sport: Don't even bother. Not only do I have the vault open, buuut, keep messing with me and you just might get yourselves hurt even worse, y'know? Oh, wow. Also! This thing is really shiny, just for the record."

Sheffer paused midway up the stairs, examining the new barrier.

"...coward..."

Hearing the distorted voice across the speakers and its mocking tone, Sheffer threw a quick glance back to his fellow companions. The electrocution seemed to have stopped, the crew recovering from what the hedgehog could see. Listening to some of the kid's words, his eyes darted to Tank for a moment, but he turned back to the door. Whatever the brat may think, he wouldn't need the tortoise to get through to him.

Letting out a small sigh, Sheffer allowed the crystal that covered his body to expand past his neck and across his face. It crept along steadily, moving to his quills, making them sharp spines of rock. His eyes peered through the thin sheet of crystal that coated them, studying the door one last time. He'd been wanting to try something for quite awhile now, not knowing if it was possible, but it seemed the opportune moment had come.

He suddenly crouched, then rolled, beginning to spin in place. Rock ground against metal, a high pitch whir occurring over the sound of him ravaging the steel beneath him. Sparks flew, his velocity increased, and in a spinning blur of green, he rocketed forward. Now a revolving cannonball of rock, the stairs shot him in an upward angle, slamming into the door dead center.

The door at first caved in, a resisting creak coming from it, but only a second later, it completely lost its grip, shooting forward into the room beyond as it was blasted off whatever hinges held it in place. Sheffer followed it for some distance, pulling out of his spin, only to grind belly down across the ground in a failed attempt to land on his feet. His maneuver may have been a success, but he still lacked any elegance.

Shaking his head a bit, he pushed himself to his feet, muted behind the layer of rock as he looked about, his eyes searching for the kid.

Sheffer and any who followed him would have no trouble finding their target. It was quite dark in the moderately large chamber (lit only by a big set of computer monitors), but the kid had more than a few screens, panels, and meters decorating himself, on his shoes, gloves, eyepiece, and headset, and that made it easy enough to see him standing there next to the huge, open vault door in the floor. Subtlety certainly wasn't any concern to him, from the looks of things. There was one difference from a few seconds ago, though: He now wore a backpack. Badge's sensor would sure enough show that it had an emerald in it.

"You're in so much trouble," he stated matter-of-factly, smiling like the cat that ate the canary.

At some point, the shark had leapt from Tank's back; a few moments later, Mako seemed to have dragged himself into the next room using only his hands, as his legs were twitching quite a bit as he walked, having wound up quite electrocuted en route. He got to his feet after a moment, a bit shakily.

"You know, I'm getting a bit annoyed," the shark remarked, one eye and the side of his mouth twitching.
Yes, children, Mako had officially reached the point of anger. Or at least the point of really, really wanting to punch the kid in the mouth. Whichever point that had been reached, it couldn't have been a good sign.

Even less of a good sign was that the fish then bowled straight past Sheff in a beeline for the kid, yelling something that may or may not have been a primal war cry (either way, it sounded like "YIYIYIYIYI!").
... Of course, knowing his luck, he'd probably trip halfway there, or perhaps tripped by a side-step and a foot put in his way, especially considering his newly-spastic legs, but the spirit was there.

Before Mako could rush off to his inevitable doom, Sheffer's hand darted out, grabbing the shark firmly by the tail, shaking his head at his actions. The guy looked still half-shocked as it was, and knowing his capabilities on foot... well, that kid must have some trcik up his sleeve, and the last thing Sheffer was going to was let Mako run right first into it.

After what appeared to be some concentration, the rock across the front of his face fell away, now exposed.

"Sit tight, Mako," muttered the hedgehog, now capable of speaking, looking over to the cause of their troubles.

"Alright, kid!" he began, letting go of Mako's appendage and taking a step forward. "You really don't want to know how much I want to give you the good one-two right now, but let's try to bargain, okay? Just give us the emerald, and I won't shove a pillar of rock so far up your ass that you'll be puking up diamonds for the next two weeks. Deal?"

As if on cue, one hulking tortoise-shaped frame stepped in (ducking his head to walk through the door!). He seemed to take it with a business-as-usual approach, even if he was sighing through irritation as he stood behind Sheffer and his sharky friend. For some strange reason, his height and girth really seemed to shine through right then, towering over the already reasonably tall hedgehog. His amber eyes peered forward, crossing his arms and sparing a liberal frowning at the young opposition.

"Eet would be prleferred... if hwe did not haff to rlesort to violence."

It took Badge a little while to recover from the water-shock. He stood up straight, and shook his head. His HUD having gone haywire for a bit. Luckily, the surge was over, and once he got his barrings, he headed toward the door that Sheffer managed to bring down with a well-placed spindash.

To say the least, this kid was annoying. Nothing worse than a kid with an agenda. Except maybe a "mysterious" one.

"Ugh...Sheffer is terrible at negotiating." He said absently. It was about then that his HUD was starting to work properly again and he noted that the emerald was in that backpack.

He stepped into the room, looking around for alternate exits, switching to Night Vision once inside the room. Surely, the boy wouldn't have backed himself into a corner with no hope of escape. While he was at it, any evident traps laid out for brazen muscle-heads?

Jacks progression through the water was slow, it may of had something to do with how deep it was and how short her legs where, but by the time she reached the door a hedgehog, shark, raccoon and giant turtle where taking up all of the available entry space. She couldn't even see into the room, She shuffled around behind the group but couldn't see an opening large enough to push through or get around all the bodies.

"Will one'ah yall just take 'im out already?! Or did ya'll decide we was just takin' this dip for our constitutions and the kid could have the emerald?!" She snarled from in the back. Being both short and irritable rarely seemed to work in the griffin's favor. As angry as she was though the thought of this obnoxious kid blowing himself up with that rock was terrifying.

Badge was well-equipped to discern the room's nooks and crannies; a little nightvision would reveal to him that the chamber was about a hundred feet across, had one other exit at the opposite end of the room, and the open, round, vault hole in the floor, though it likely led nowhere. Meanwhile, a little infrared could show that puddles of cold water were all over the place, leaking in heavily from the ceiling, but otherwise, there were no anomalies; only heat from the various computer systems and ventilation, and something down in the vault, though it was very small.

In short, there was nothing apparently fishy in there except Mako, and yet still, the charming young man looked as confident as ever. He only grinned at the hedgehog's threats.

"It's really too bad we don't have time for this," he mused almost bitterly. "I know that makes it sound like I'm running, but, well." He raised an empty hand as he spoke and made a gesture in the air as if he was manipulating something on an invisible touchscreen. His glowing headset display shifted and changed, not very tellingly from an outside perspective, but it apparently gave him some sort of different HUD view.

"You'll see in about... fifteen seconds. You can still waste that time trying to get the emerald back from me if you want to, though. I think it'd be pretty funny if some bunch of doofy heroic strangers tried to call me on a bluff and died for it."

The shark had lost his composure by this point. Well-reasoned or not, he had come to the conclusion that the shark torpedos were this kid's fault (possibly beacuse he really, really wanted to blame him-- even if he was right, he wasn't basing his accusation on solid evidence), and the electricity had been the final straw.
Screw him over in the one place he had some level of proficiency?
Oh no he didn't.

As such, Mako was... well... hopping mad. Literally, as he was hopping up and down like a child having a temper-tantrum as he voiced his assent with Jack. "We came this far! We dealt with the crazy old moth! I got attacked by TORPEDOS! We got ELECTROCUTED!" He paused, breathing heavily for a second, before he flailed his arms wildly, his feet now planted on the ground.
"I'm not leaving until we get that flippin'* emerald if I have to break out and swim after wonderboy myself!"

Oh yes, mister sharky was frustrated.

"... so what are we gonna do?" he asked in a less... irate, loud... tone.

*What Mako said, rather than "flippin'", was actually a string of things, quite a few degrees more obscene than what is printed.

"What else? Get that kid before his little timer is up," said Sheffer, and, true to his words, immediately sprinted forward, or sprinted as much as a moving pile of rock could. It was a hefty load, carrying all that crystal, but it didn't impede that drastically on his forward momentum. If the brat was truthful, and he really did have some sort of fifteen second magic countdown, the hedgehog only be making it by the end.

Of course, the kid would probably be off and running like the coward he already had appeared to be, but it still didn't stop Sheffer from charging head-on like a spiny battering ram.

"That works!"

And with that, Mako followed after Sheff in a sprint for their current lightning-rod of hate, resuming his rather bizarre little primal battle-cry. After the rather shiny combatant, there soon followed one with a large tail, too many teeth, and the strangest battle cry this side of South Island.

Well, as things were going, whether or not the boy had something sinister up his sleeve didn't really matter. He was going to get away if they didn't do anything. And no scans showed hazards that were readily apparent.

In short, he was ready for action. Sheff wouldn't be charging head-on into the fray. The scarved hero, sure to regret it, leapt forward towards the emerald thief of sorts after a 3-step sprint. He tucked into a flip, leaping over Sheff's head and threw his feet out at the apex of his jump, his right foot extended in a dropkick with a glow engulfing his foot, and igniting into flame, and propelling him toward his target at a downward angle.

"WILD KICK!"

He shouted the name of his attack. The fact that their opponent was relentlessly condescending didn't really deter him from being as ridiculous as possible.

Hit or miss(not accounting for unforeseen variables), he hit the ground at a low crouch, hoping the hedgehog had the sense to jump over him.

He just stood there as the hedgehog and shark charged from afar. Their (less than fast) approach was soon solar eclipsed by the blinding panache of Wild Badge leaping in a huge, noticeable, fast, aerial kick. It was telegraphed, but executed speedily and wildly enough that it should have been really hard for any human to easily avoid. That's when things got ridiculous beyond any craziness, flash and flair than the would-be superhero presently brought to the table, though.

The boy twisted and did a sudden, low-to-the-ground barrel-rolling motion that put him behind where Badge's kick was going to impact only a hair of a second later. In a maneuver that was short-lived and outright difficult to discern, he spun like a top on his head and hands, legs out, to instantaneously snap a whirling kick of his own out at the crouching raccoon's back as he landed, before hand-springing and doing some sort of rubber-man-looking triple-axle twist-flip back onto his feet and into a full-tilt run. (The attack against Badge wasn't that devastatingly hard, though—Perhaps it was more a besmirching of his acrobatic hero honor than a real bodily-harm attack.)

Entirely contrary to what Sheffer had expected, the boy was coming for him rather than running away, and there wasn't a bit of warning for it. One second there was something blurry-fast striking at Wild Badge, and the next, it was in the hedgehog's face as quickly as if a major league pitcher had hurled a baseball at him.

But he didn't strike. Instead, his foot stomped the ground meters before impact, and he soared overhead in nothing more than streak of color, light, and noise. He had unfurled his weapon from his pack in that second-long sprint, and used it to recklessly spray a full-auto barrage while flipping twenty feet through the air at ninety miles per hour overhead, directing the bulk of his voluminous, but wildly scattered fire in the general direction of the tortoise and griffin. He'd soon enough hit the wall above the door they'd entered from—Still firing nonstop—and kick off to gain yet more altitude, slugs and brass raining seemingly perpetually.

From first impression, he didn't seem like a hard hitter or a precise killer, but he was very much an aggressor, very much not merely human, and very much not bluffing. They only had seconds more to deal with him, for better or worse.

As it was, Tank was very much caught off guard by the human's display of acrobatic ass-kicking. He kept his composure though, but that wasn't enough to find an opening in the speedy barrage of feet and gunfire. Power Mask was not the speediest fighter, and more often relied on technique, or careful set-ups to capture his quarry. But this time he found himself caught in another's trap. In fact, it was only when he noticed the spray of bullets at his and Jack's feet did he decide taking immediate action was a good idea.

Picking up and carrying his smaller teammates seemed to be becoming a habit, but at least this time it was for good reason. His thick arm immediately went out to scoop the winged gunslinger whether she liked it or not, and just as quickly twirled his back (and therefor his sturdy shell, already having soaked a few stray shots) to their aggressor, before setting her right back down.

He lamented the options given to him right now; he had a number of gadgets that might have helped greatly any other day. Smoke pellets, flashbangs, and the like, all of which would also impede his partners. For now, he merely acted as cover (and hopefully, a distraction?) until someone else could find a more direct means of attack.
